Cords of Love

January 31, 2009

Jeremiah 31:3    I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.

Hosea 11:4    I drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love, and I was to them as those who take the yoke from their neck. I stooped and fed them.

Psalm 18:33-35   He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; He enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; so my arms can bend a bow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.

As the Deer

January 30, 2009

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth — For your love is better than wine. Because of the fragrance of your good ointments, Your name is ointment poured forth; Therefore the virgins love you. Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers.” “We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will extol your love more than wine. The upright love you.”–Song 1:2-4

From http://net.bible.org/verse.php?book=Sos&chapter=1&verse=4

Quote:
*The verb (mashakh, “draw”) is a figurative expression
(hypocatastasis) which draws an implied comparison between the physical acting of leading a person with the romantic action of leading a person in love. Elsewhere it is used figuratively of a master gently leading an animal with leather cords (Hos 11:4) and of a military victor leading his captives (Jer 31:3). The point of comparison might be that the woman wants to be the willing captive of the love of her beloved, that is, a willing prisoner of his love.

The heart cry of an awakened heart desparately longing to be drawn away by her beloved in His cords of love.

[Joyfully the radiant bride turned to him, the one altogether lovely, the chief among ten thousand to her soul, and with unconcealed eagerness to begin her life of sweet companionship with him, she answered] Make haste, my beloved, and come quickly, like a gazelle or a young hart [and take me to our waiting home] upon the mountains of spices! –Song 8:14 AMP

Establish your hearts on the Rock –Ja 5:8
For the coming of the Lord draws nigh.
Surrender in complete abandonment
Fervently sing in the shadow of His wings
Rejoice and be glad
Set the Lord always before
Follow hard
Upheld in His presence taste fullness of joy
Drink deeply of His love
Let Him flood your dry ground –Ps 44:3
The path of life made known

At His right hand are pleasures forevermore. –Ps 16:11

.

My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Better is one day in your courts than 1000 elsewhere! –Ps 84:2,10

As the deer pants for the streams of living water
So my soul pants for you, O God. –Ps 42:1

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast.
I will sing and make melody.
Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. –Ps 57:7-8

Heart Cry

January 29, 2009

Psalm 42:1   As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.

What is the cry of your heart? How earnestly are you seeking the Lord? Does your soul thirst for Him as the deer pants for the living water in a dry and weary land?

I have loved you with an everlasting love;
… I have drawn you with loving-kindness. –Jer 31:3

Taste His love, a love better, more delightful than wine. Be drawn by His love better than life.

May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine. Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. Therefore the virgins love you. Draw me away! Let us run together! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. How right they are to adore you! –Song 1:2-4

Taste and see, you will be swept away, caught up in His love, you will sing His praise. Your heart cry “Make haste, my beloved, come quickly to me”.

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who trust in Him! -Ps 34:8

Psalm 63:1-8
1 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you,

… my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods;
… with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
6 On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.
7 Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.
8 My soul clings to {follows hard after} you; your right hand upholds me.

Make Haste, My Beloved!

January 29, 2009

James 5:7-8    Be patient, therefore, beloved, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord draws nigh.

Song 8:14    Make haste, my beloved! Be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices.

Small Seeds

January 27, 2009

mustardseeds

Matthew 13:31-33    He presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

He spoke another parable to them, “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened.”

A small amount of leaven can influence a large amount of dough in a positive way. Unleavened bread is flat, hard, dry, and unappetizing. Leavened bread is soft, spongy, warm, and tasty.

This is interesting because I always thought leaven was compared to evil, for example, in Luke 12:1, Jesus said, `…Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy’.

Evil and sin may spread like leaven; but take heart! Greater is He that is in you than all that are against you; the word of life which has been hidden in the world, hidden in believing hearts, is a leaven too. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds! With a small mustard seed of faith in Jesus, that which seems impossible is possible.

All things are possible with God. –Mt 19:26

A small seed goes a long way!

Matthew 17:20    And He said to them, “… for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

‘Lie Down’ Among Lions

January 27, 2009

Psalm 57:1-5, 7
Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
… For my soul trusts in You;
… And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,
… Until these calamities have passed by.
I will cry out to God Most High,
… To God who performs all things for me.
He shall send from heaven and save me;
… He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. Selah
… God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.
My soul is among lions;
… I lie among the sons of men
… Who are set on fire,
… Whose teeth are spears and arrows,
… And their tongue a sharp sword.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
… Let Your glory be above all{over} the earth.

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;
… I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!

David’s image in Psalm 57 is a blessing. Think of it, having such a trust in the Lord as your refuge — that even in the face of ravenous lions — you can ‘lie down’ among them and be at rest beneath your Savior’s wings.

Oh to trust like that!

To look at every ‘lion’ and know that
HE IS MIGHTY TO SAVE!

Psalm 46:10
Be still and know that I AM God;
… I will be exalted among the nations,
… I will be exalted in the earth!

Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is with you{in your midst}, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet{renew, refresh, bring into rest) you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing.

Lord, continue to draw us into the rest You have prepared for us beneath Your wings. Thank You that as we follow Your lead, our faith and trust will continue to increase, and we like David will be able to ‘lie down’ among the lions, safe at rest beneath Your wings.

Keep our hearts steadfast, O LORD, steadfast beneath Your mighty wings. We will sing, yes, we will sing praises, steadfast beneath Your mighty wings!

Mighty to Save

January 27, 2009

Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is with you{in your midst}, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet{renew, refresh, bring into rest) you with his love, He will rejoice over you with singing.

Do not be afraid
I AM with you in the midst of your circumstances
I AM mighty to save.

Even in circumstances which surround like lions
Ravenous beasts with sharp tearing teeth
Darkness ready to devour and swallow its prey
Do not be afraid.

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. –Isa 43:1

I take great delight in you
Come enter My rest
Be still and trust beneath My wings
I rejoice over you with singing
Be refreshed and renewed covered by My love
My mercy and truth sent forth to deliver.

Look at every ‘lion’ and know that I can deliver  you.

Be still and know that I AM God;
… I will be exalted among the nations,
… I will be exalted in the earth! –Ps 46:10

Be strong, do not fear! Behold!
I your God will come with vengeance,
With a recompense
I will come and save you. –Isa 35:3-4
I AM mighty to save.

Psalm 57:1-5
Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me!
… For my soul trusts in You;
… And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge,
… Until these calamities have passed by.
I will cry out to God Most High,
… To God who performs all things for me.
He shall send from heaven and save me;
… He reproaches the one who would swallow me up. Selah
… God shall send forth His mercy and His truth.
My soul is among lions;
… I lie among the sons of men
… Who are set on fire,
… Whose teeth are spears and arrows,
… And their tongue a sharp sword.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
… Let Your glory be above all{over} the earth.

Eyes That See

January 26, 2009

1 Samuel 16:7    But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

Do not judge by the natural sight of your eyes
Neither decide by the natural hearing of your ears
Do not look at outward circumstances.

Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually. –1 Chron 16:11

Let the Spirit of the Lord rest upon you –
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and fear of the Lord–

Delight in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord
He will then quicken your understanding
Righteous judgement shall spring forth. –Isa 11:3-4; Jn 7:24

Delight in the reverential and obedient fear of the Lord
Your eyes will see
To do justice, to love kindness
To walk humbly with your God. –Mic 6:8

Let justice roll down like waters and righteousness like a mighty ever-flowing stream.  –Amos 5:24

{LORD}Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the ocean depths. –Ps 36:6

Ears that hear and eyes that see
—the LORD has made them both. –Prov 20:12

On Guard

January 23, 2009

2 Timothy 1:12 AMP
12And this is why I am suffering as I do. Still I am not ashamed, for I know (perceive, have knowledge of, and am acquainted with) Him Whom I have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on), and I am [positively] persuaded that He is able to guard and keep that which has been entrusted to me and which I have committed [to Him] until that day.

13Hold fast and follow the pattern of wholesome and sound teaching which you have heard from me, in [all] the faith and love which are [for us] in Christ Jesus.

14Guard and keep [with the greatest care] the precious and excellently adapted [Truth] which has been entrusted [to you], by the [help of the] Holy Spirit Who makes His home in us.

Psalm 121 (The Message)
1-2 I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains?
No, my strength comes from God,
… who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.

3-4 He won’t let you stumble,
… your Guardian God won’t fall asleep.
Not on your life! Israel’s
Guardian will never doze or sleep.

5-6 God’s your Guardian,
… right at your side to protect you—
Shielding you from sunstroke,
sheltering you from moonstroke.

7-8 God guards you from every evil,
… he guards your very life.
He guards you when you leave and when you return,
He guards you now, He guards you always.

I AM Watching

January 20, 2009

glorys

2 Timothy 1:12   For this reason I also suffer these things, but I
am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced
that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.

I AM watching
My eye and hand upon My dove
My beautiful one, who trusts in Me.

Prepare your cistern –Jn 2:6-7
Make it ready to hold the pure living water
Water from the throne
Water which reflects the Son and brings life
The Sun of Righteousness rising with healing in His wings.

See this water turned to wine
Reflecting the victory and joy which comes with the dawn
See the light of morning’s triumph piercing thru the clouds
… over the darkness of the night.

The best wine saved till last –Jn 2:10-11
When the Son rises and His glory is revealed.

I AM watching over My word to perform it. –Jer 1:12

Entrust all to Me, My dove
I AM able to guard all you surrender to My care
I AM able, more than able to do immeasurably more
…  than all you could ask or imagine. –Eph 3:20

I AM watching
Trust Me, My dove.

Psalm 121
I lift up my eyes to the hills—
… where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
… the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
… He who watches over you will not slumber;
Indeed, He who watches over Israel
… will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you—
… the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
The sun will not harm you by day,
… nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm—
… He will watch over your life;
The LORD will watch over your coming and going
… both now and forevermore.

2 Kings 3:14-20
14 Elisha said, “As surely as the LORD Almighty lives, whom I serve, if I did not have respect for the presence of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, I would not look at you or even notice you. 15 But now bring me a harpist.”

While the harpist was playing, the hand of the LORD came upon Elisha 16 and he said, “This is what the LORD says: Make this valley full of ditches. 17 For this is what the LORD says: You will see neither wind nor rain, yet this valley will be filled with water, and you, your cattle and your other animals will drink. 18 This is an easy thing in the eyes of the LORD; he will also hand Moab over to you. 19 You will overthrow every fortified city and every major town. You will cut down every good tree, stop up all the springs, and ruin every good field with stones.”

20 The next morning, about the time for offering the sacrifice, there it was—water flowing from the direction of Edom! And the land was filled with water.

Make your valley full of ditches — the hebrew word for ditches means cisterns. Telling them to build cisterns is a dramatic way of leading into the announcement that He{the Lord} would miraculously provide water in the desert.
