Psalm 91:1, 4 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. … He will cover you with his feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Psalm 57:1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for in you my soul takes refuge {trusts}. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.
This cry arose from David when he was hiding from Saul in a cave. His cry for mercy is doubled showing his urgent need for the Lord’s intervention.
David put all of his hope and trust in the Lord’s mercy and grace. He trusts in the Lord with his very soul, his inner most being. His cry for mercy, his prayer itself placing him in the shadow of the Almighty; safe under the Lord’s protective wings.
Protective wings hover over the Lord’s mercy seat. –Exodus 25:20
For the Lord takes pleasure in those who place their hope in His mercy.
