Matthew 13:31-33 He presented another parable to them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field; and this is smaller than all other seeds, but when it is full grown, it is larger than the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
He spoke another parable to them, “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three pecks of flour until it was all leavened.”
A small amount of leaven can influence a large amount of dough in a positive way. Unleavened bread is flat, hard, dry, and unappetizing. Leavened bread is soft, spongy, warm, and tasty.
This is interesting because I always thought leaven was compared to evil, for example, in Luke 12:1, Jesus said, `…Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy’.
Evil and sin may spread like leaven; but take heart! Greater is He that is in you than all that are against you; the word of life which has been hidden in the world, hidden in believing hearts, is a leaven too. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ abounds! With a small mustard seed of faith in Jesus, that which seems impossible is possible.
All things are possible with God. –Mt 19:26
A small seed goes a long way!
Matthew 17:20 And He said to them, “… for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.
