The Strength of Our Anchor

December 3, 2010

Psalm 121:1-2 AMP I WILL lift up my eyes to the hills [around Jerusalem, to sacred Mount Zion and Mount Moriah]–From whence shall my help come? … My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

***

Lift up your eyes, discouraged one,
The Lord your help will be;
New strength will come from Him who said,
“For rest, come unto Me.” -Anon

The storms of life prove the strength of our anchor
Jesus is the anchor that will always hold!

The storms of life
prove the strength of our anchor.

Athough the stress and strain of life
My thread of faith may break,
The cable of His faithfulness
No storm can ever shake. -Anon

Jesus is the anchor
that will always hold.
-Heb 6:19

***

Psalm 125:1-2 AMP THOSE WHO trust in, lean on, and confidently hope in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides and stands fast forever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about His people from this time forth and forever.

Lord Jesus, help us always to look up and place our hope in You, in Your unfailing steadfast love and mercy.

The Anchor Holds

The Anchor Holds

September 21, 2009

These words from this song encouraged me today!

THE ANCHOR HOLDS
By Lawrence Chewning and Ray Boltz

I have journeyed
Through the long, dark night
Out on the open sea
By faith alone
Sight unknown
And yet His eyes were watching me

CHORUS:
The anchor holds
Though the ship is battered
The anchor holds
Though the sails are torn
I have fallen on my knees
As I faced the raging seas
The anchor holds
In spite of the storm.

If you’ve ever been in a storm, you know its hard to see — especially when there is no light! On the raging sea its easy to become confused as your ship is battered, rocked and flung about. In the midst of the storm its hard to see that the anchor is holding.

Do you have an anchor to make it thru the storms of life?

Hebrews 6:16-20 Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.

Jesus is our hope — the anchor for our souls. He is the hope set before us — eternal life. He is also our present hope, available to us right now. Also note that this hope – this anchor of the soul — it’s deep within the inner sanctuary behind the curtain — a place Jesus has prepared for us…..

The death of Jesus torn this curtain (Mt 27:51) and gave each of us access to our present hope.

Why is this true? Because God does not lie; this is an unchangeable truth!

So when the storms come remember to anchor your hope in Jesus the immovable, unshakeable Rock everlasting! He is the one who sees to guide you safely thru any storm.

Matthew 7:24-27 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

To realize the worth of the anchor,
We need to feel the stress of the storm.

The storms of life prove the strength of our anchor
Jesus is the anchor that will always hold!

In the midst of the storm when its hard to see
Battered by the wind of the raging sea
Remember there is hope, an anchor for the soul
Firm and secure
Jesus the immovable, unshakeable Rock everlasting!
The One who sees to guide you safely thru any storm.

Jesus is the anchor for the soul
Firm and secure
The anchor that will never fail
So grab hold!

From Lyn McSweeney

Jesus our anchor through the storm

Jesus our rock when we’re reborn

Even though the winds will blow

Tall and stronger we will grow

Jesus our anchor through the storm

Jesus the one who made the way

Jesus by our side he stays

He is our strength he is our peace

He is the one who gives sweet release

Jesus our anchor through the storm

Jesus through all the firey trials

Jesus of whom there’s no denial

He is the gate he is the door

He was with Father way before

JESUS OUR ANCHOR THROUGH THE STORM!!!
