Thirst

July 31, 2009

Judges 15:18-19    Then he{Samson} became very thirsty, and he called to the LORD and said, “You have given this great deliverance by the hand of Your servant, and now shall I die of thirst and fall into the hands of the uncircumcised?” So God split the hollow place that is in Lehi, and water came out, and he drank; and his spirit returned, and he revived. Therefore he called its name En Hakkore{Spring of the one who cries out}, which is in Lehi to this day.

Even the mightiest warrior gets battle weary sometimes.
Be of good courage fainting warrior.

It is the King of glory, the Lord of hosts who trains
your hands for war and your fingers for battle, -Ps 144:1
who arms you with strengh and makes your way perfect. -Ps 18:32

I AM will not let you faint or fall into the hands of the uncircumcised.

See, I AM doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I AM making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. -Isa 43:19

I AM makes a way where there is no way.

Ho! Everyone who thirsts, Come to the waters; -Isa 55:1

Come to the waters and drink the water of life
Drink water from the Rock and be revived.

If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink. -Jn 7:37

 I AM the One and Only who quenches your thirst
… and gives you all you need to endure to the very end.

They did not thirst when He led them through the deserts;
He caused the waters to flow from the rock for them;
He also split the rock, and the waters gushed out. -Isa 48:21

Carried

July 23, 2009

Psalm 107:25-30    He spoke and raised up a stormy wind, which lifted up the waves of the sea. They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths; in their peril their courage melted away. They reeled and staggered like drunken men; they were at their wits’ end. They cried out to the Lord in their distress; He delivered them from their troubles. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. What a blessing was that stillness as He brought them safely into harbor!

I AM sees

He who watches over you will not slumber -Ps 121:3

I AM sees the storm you are in
… that you are growing faint.

You may feel shaken, tired and weak
You may even feel like you are sinking
… overwhelmed by the waves.

Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. -Heb 13:5

Even to your old age I am He, and even to hair white with age will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry and will save you. -Isa 46:4

I AM sees and speaks

“Peace, be still” -Mk 4:39

You will be carried thru this storm and led into safe harbor.

Psalm 107:31   Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, and for His wonders to the sons of men!

Isaiah 35:3-4   Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble
knees.; Say to those who are fearful–hearted, anxious, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of  God; He will come and save you.”

Revived in the Eye of the Storm

July 19, 2009

Psalm 138:7-8 AMP   Though I walk in the midst{center} of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and Your right hand will save me. The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, endure forever–forsake not the works of Your own hands.

It’s in the midst, the very center of trouble that we are revived by the Lord’s hand. The very center of trouble is where He revives us, not the place He fails us. It’s in this place of delay, waiting for His deliverance that we are perfected.

Take heart if you’re in this place today; it’s in this seemingly hopeless place, this place of delay that His mighty hand is stretched forth to save.

The Lord is perfecting all that concerns you. He will bring it to full completion. Wait for Him!

He will revive you in the very center of trouble. He will carry you thru, thru to His peace in the eye of the storm. Just keep your eyes on His face.

What a blessing is that stillness, that calm in the eye of the storm.

Psalm 57:2 AMP   I will cry to God Most High, Who performs on my behalf and rewards me [Who brings to pass His purposes for me and surely completes them]!

Philippians 1:6 AMP   And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

THE EYE OF THE STORM

“Fear not that the whirlwind shall carry thee hence,
Nor wait for its onslaught in breathless suspense,
Nor shrink from the whips of the terrible hail,
But pass through the edge to the heart of the gale,
For there is a shelter, sunlighted and warm,
And Faith sees her God through the eye of the storm.
“The passionate tempest with rush and wild roar
And threatenings of evil may beat on the shore,
The waves may be mountains, the fields battle plains,
And the earth be immersed in a deluge of rains,
Yet, the soul, stayed on God, may sing bravely its psalm,
For the heart of the storm is the center of calm.
“Let hope be not quenched in the blackness of night,
Though the cyclone awhile may have blotted the light,
For behind the great darkness the stars ever shine,
And the light of God’s heavens, His love shall make thine,
Let no gloom dim thine eyes, but uplif t them on high
To the face of thy God and the blue of His sky.
“The storm is thy shelter from danger and sin,
And God Himself takes thee for safety within;
The tempest with Him passeth into deep calm,
And the roar of the winds is the sound of a psalm.
Be glad and serene when the tempest clouds form;
God smiles on His child in the eye of the Storm”.

Stir Up Your Heart

July 18, 2009

Someone noticed the coldness of the winter season in this picture and related it to hearts growing cold as the day of the Lord approaches. I wasn’t even noticing the coldness when I made this — I was actually thinking about being in the desert with no water. The Lord really encouraged me that I would make it thru this season. For the sparrow the winter season seems the hardest. I was thinking about the lack of food & water, but growing cold is just as dangerous!

Matthew 24:11-13    Many false prophets will arise and will mislead many. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.

As the darkness increases so too will the coldness of hearts
Do not fear this increasing coldness
Do not fear being swallowed up by this darkness
Hold fast
Refuse to allow the coldness of the season to dampen your desire
… to fulfill your calling
Remember your first love
Stir up the flames of hope in your heart
The flame of hope that pierces the night
Keep the flame burning, hold on to God’s promises, hold on tight
For we know it’s at this darkest moment that
… the bright morning star comes into sight!
When the enemy comes in like a flood
The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him
And put him to flight. -Isa 59:19

Hebrews 10:23-25    Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Glorious

July 16, 2009

Psalm 66:1-4   Shout joyfully to God, all the earth;
2Sing the *glory of His name; Make His praise *glorious.
3Say to God, “How awesome are Your works! Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will give feigned obedience to You.
4All the earth will worship You and will sing praises to You;
      They will sing praises to Your name.” Selah.

Psalm 16:8-11    I have set the LORD always before me;
         Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

 9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my *glory rejoices;
         My flesh{life} also will rest{secure} in hope.
 10 For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
         Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
 11 You will show me the path of life;
         In Your presence is fullness of joy;
         At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

A Place to Lay My Head

His Eye is on the Sparrow

July 13, 2009

His Eye is on the Sparrow
Words by Civilla D. Martin, 1905
.
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,
When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
.
“Let not your heart be troubled,” His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness, I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth, but one step I may see;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
.
Whenever I am tempted, whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing, when hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him, from care He sets me free;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
.
I sing because I’m happy,
I sing because I’m free,
For His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

SparrowMany

This popular hymn is based on the following scripture.

Matthew 10:29-31   Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

‘God’s eye is on the sparrow’. If not careful, we may be tempted to underestimate this glorious truth. God does not watch simply as a passive spectator. Seeing and taking notice of every sparrow fall requires omnipotence, but Jesus points past that mind boggling truth to something even more profound – God’s sovereign governance. In other words, not only does God’s watchful eye see the sparrow, but his hand of providence guides its flight.

Consider how the birds congregate in the autumn, ready for their flight across the purple sea. How do they find their way? The believer in providence holds that the wing of every bird has stamped upon it the place where it shall fly. Birds may whirl about, above, beneath, — east, west, north, south — wherever they please; still, it is all according to the providential hand of God. His hand guides their flight.

His eye and hand are certainly on the sparrow. Take heart, you are worth more than many sparrows!

His Care – Many Sparrows

From:    The Little Things Too – Our Daily Bread

Matthew 10:29-31   Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

SparrowSeason

If God sees the sparrow’s fall,
Paints the lilies short and tall,
Gives the skies their azure hue,
Will He not then care for you ?

Nothing is too great for God to accomplish,
Nothing to small for His attention.

Matthew 6:25-27   Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? 26Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Psalm 55:22 AMP   Cast your burden on the Lord [releasing the weight of it] and He will sustain you; He will never allow the [consistently] righteous to be moved (made to slip, fall, or fail).

As the sparrow survives the winter
So will you too survive this season!

Take heart
His eye and hand are certainly on the sparrow
I know He watches over you
Nothing is too great for the Lord to accomplish
Nothing is to small for His attention.

So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Trust in the LORD
For you are in His care!

Psalm 84:2-3    My soul longs, yes, even faints for the courts of the LORD; My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, And the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young–– even Your altars, O LORD of hosts, My King and my God.

The sparrow could not have picked a better home! Or a better place to rest or raise her young. 🙂

Oh the safety, refuge and rest found in the Lord’s presence.

How I long to be in the presence of the living God
How I long to be ever praising Him
Lifting my hands in His sanctuary
Singing for joy as I seek His face

Oh the fullness of joy as I am held in His gaze!

Better is one day in Your courts O LORD than a thousand elsewhere.

Yes Lord bring your sparrows home,  for the time of singing is come.

Psalm 84:1-5
1 How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty!
2 My soul yearns, even faints,
for the courts of the LORD;
my heart and my flesh cry out
for the living God.
3 Even the sparrow has found a home,
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may have her young—
a place near your altar,
O LORD Almighty, my King and my God.
4 Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;
they are ever praising you.
Selah

5 Blessed are those whose strength{trust} is in You,
who have set their hearts on pilgrimage
{in whose heart are the highways to Zion.}.

The King Speaks Divine Wisdom

July 12, 2009

Proverbs 16:9-10 (New Living Translation)
9 We can make our plans,
      but the Lord determines our steps.

10 The king speaks with *divine wisdom;
       He must never judge unfairly.

11 The Lord demands accurate scales and balances;
      He sets the standards for fairness.

**If one makes God’s glory their end, and His will their rule, He will direct
their steps by His Spirit and grace.

**If the ‘king’ judges unfairly, without wisdom or against the Lord’s
standards — he is not ‘with’ the Lord and speaks divination – witchcraft –
falsely.

From NetBible Proverbs 16:10
divine wisdom – qecem [07081]
1) divination, witchcraft
1a) of the nations, Balaam
1b) of false prophets
1c) in a good sense (king’s lips as oracles)

Waiting for the Hope

July 12, 2009

“For we through the Spirit by faith wait for the hope of righteousness”
-Gal. 5:5

There are times when things look very dark to me–so dark that I have to wait even for hope. It is bad enough to wait in hope. A long-deferred fulfillment carries its own pain, but to wait for hope, to see no glimmer of a prospect and yet refuse to despair; to have nothing but night before the casement and yet to keep the casement open for possible stars; to have a vacant place in my heart and yet to allow that place to be filled by no inferior presence–that is the grandest patience in the universe. It is Job in the tempest; it is Abraham on the road to Moriah; it is Moses in the desert of Midian; it is the Son of man in the Garden of Gethsemane.

There is no patience so hard as that which endures, “as seeing him who is invisible”; it is the waiting for hope.

Thou hast made waiting beautiful; Thou has made patience divine. Thou hast taught us that the Father’s will may be received just because it is His will. Thou hast revealed to us that a soul may see nothing but sorrow in the cup and yet may refuse to let it go, convinced that the eye of the Father sees further than its own.

Give me this Divine power of Thine, the power of Gethsemane. Give me the power to wait for hope itself, to look out from the casement where there are no stars. Give me the power, when the very joy that was set before me is gone, to stand unconquered amid the night, and say, “To the eye of my Father it is perhaps shining still.” I shall reach the climax of strength when I have learned to wait for hope.

Wings, Blossoms, Pomegranates Blooming!

July 9, 2009

This image linking wings with blossoms and the Lord’s word being sent and not returning void is very similar to one the Lord gave me in april from Song 7:12.

Arise Beautiful One, My Fair One

At first, I thought the wings were eagle’s wings. Wings being spread out while waiting on the Lord to be ’saturated’ with His presence.

I thought it was the eagle from Isaiah 40 — anticipating the wind to ’soar’ BUT it was the dove!!! The image of the bride — budding, blooming spreading her wings in anticipation of the union with the bridegroom!

The Beloved to Her Lover:
Song 7:12 Let us rise early and go to the vineyards; Let us see whether the vine has *budded{flourished} and its blossoms have opened, and
whether the pomegranates have bloomed. There I will give you my love.

From NetBible Song 7:12
*flourished – parach [06524]
a primitive root; to break forth as a bud, i.e. bloom;
generally, to spread; specifically, to fly (as extending the
wings)
; figuratively, to flourish:-X abroad, X abundantly,
blossom, break forth (out), bud, flourish, make fly, grow,
spread, spring (up).

This time of the bride blossoming and spreading her wings is also a time when the pomegranates are blooming!

From Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomegranate

the name “pomegranate” derives from Latin pomum (”apple”) and granatus (”seeded”) — the apple of many seeds. Jewish tradition teaches that the pomegranate is a symbol for righteousness, because it is said to have 613 seeds which corresponds with the 613 mitzvot or commandments of the Torah. So the pomegranate has many seeds — seeds of truth!

Song 7:12 puts these images together! The vine blossoming — spreading wings and the pomegranates blooming — seed of truth — arising –being sent!!! 🙂

Its here in the midst of these spreading wings and seeds of truth being sent {and received} that the Bridegroom promises to give His love — a beautiful union with His Bride….

Song 2:13   The fig tree has ripened its figs, and the vines in blossom have given forth their fragrance. ‘Arise, my darling{love}, my beautiful{fair} one, and come away!’

Be Strong

July 7, 2009

Be strong and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for and hope for and expect the Lord! -Ps 31:24

AND remember timing is everything 🙂

But I trusted in, relied on, and was confident in You, O Lord; I said, You are my God. My times are in Your hands -Ps 31:14-15

Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, does not faint or grow weary; there is no searching of His understanding. He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted;

But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. -Isa 40:28-31 AMP
