No Other Way

February 27, 2010

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way,

I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. -Jn 10:9

For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. -Eph 2:18

the truth,

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. -Jn 1:14

and the life.

For with You is the fountain of life; In Your light we see light. -Ps 36:9

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. -Jn 1:4

No one comes to the Father except through Me.

If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. -Lk 9:23

He who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. -Mt 10:38

No Other Way
Karen Holland … 3-6-2010

No other way
Is there no other way?
No other Rock?

“This is what the LORD says—
… Israel’s King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty:
… I am the first and I am the last;
… apart from me there is no God.

Do not tremble
… Do not be afraid[in the coming violent upheavals]
… Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago?
… You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me?
… No, there is no other Rock; I know not one.” -Isa 44:6,8

No other way except the cross?

Can you not bear the furnace heat?

Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
… I have called you by your name;
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
… and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
… When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
… nor shall the flame scorch you. -Isa 43:1-2

I bore the cross, I know its weight
I AM with you in the fire
Follow closely in my steps, follow my lead
Fix your eyes, follow hard and lean on me. -Heb 12:2; Ps 63:8

My feet have closely followed His steps;
… I have kept to His way without turning aside.
I have not departed from the commands of His lips;
… I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.

He knows the way that I take;
… When He has tested me,
… I will come forth as gold. -Job 23:11-12, 10

2 Corinthians 4:17
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
Chosen in the Furnace

The Shepherd’s Eye

February 27, 2010

Proverbs 15:3
The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.

1 Peter 5:1-4 AMP
I WARN and counsel the elders among you (the pastors and spiritual guides of the church) as a fellow elder and as an eyewitness [called to testify] of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a sharer in the glory (the honor and splendor) that is to be revealed (disclosed, unfolded): Tend (nurture, guard, guide, and fold) the flock of God that is [your responsibility], not by coercion or constraint, but willingly; not dishonorably motivated by the advantages and profits [belonging to the office], but eagerly and cheerfully; Not domineering [as arrogant, dictatorial, and overbearing persons] over those in your charge, but being examples (patterns and models of Christian living) to the flock (the congregation). And [then] when the Chief Shepherd is revealed, you will win the conqueror’s crown of glory.

Zechariah 11:4-5, 15-17
Thus says the LORD my God, “Feed the flock for slaughter, whose owners slaughter them and feel no guilt; those who sell them say, ‘Blessed be the LORD, for I am rich’; and their shepherds do not pity them. … And the LORD said to me, “Next, take for yourself the implements of a foolish shepherd. For indeed I will raise up a shepherd in the land who will not care for those who are cut off, nor seek the young, nor heal those that are broken, nor feed those that still stand. But he will eat the flesh of the fat and tear their hooves in pieces. Woe to the *idol shepherd, who leaves the flock! A sword shall be upon his arm and upon his right eye; his arm shall completely wither, and his right eye shall be totally blinded.

The eye and arm of the idol shepherd recieves judgment because the main activities of a shepherd are to watch over and guide the flock. A shepherd with no arm to guide nor eye to see is no shepherd at all. Idol[0457] in the above verse means something worthless(particularly as an object of worship). Shepherd[07473] comes from a word[07462] which means to pasture, tend, graze, feed.

How appropriate that the sword is the judgement upon the eye of the idol shepherd! It’s the delusion sent by the Lord to those who refused to love the truth.

Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they refused to love the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who refused the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Matthew 6:22-23 NKJV
The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good{single}, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

Matthew 6:22-23 NLT
Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. If the light you think you have is really darkness, how deep that darkness will be!

The Shepherd’s Eye
The Good Shepherd The Idol Shepherd
The eyes of the LORD are toward the righteous and His ears are open to their cry. -Ps 34:15 Woe to the idol shepherd, who leaves the flock! A sword shall be upon his arm and upon his right eye; his arm shall completely wither, and his right eye shall be totally blinded. -Zech 11:17
For the eyes of the LORD are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the LORD is against those who do evil. -1 Pe 3:12 And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast. … Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth, and he had two horns like a lamb and spoke like a dragon. And he exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence, and causes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.-Rev 13:3, 11-14
The eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. – 2 Chron 16:9 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. -2 Tim 4:3-4
Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope in His mercy. -Ps 33:18 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of you father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. -Jn 8:43-44
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever. -Ps 111:10 Transgression speaks to the ungodly within his heart; There is no fear of God before his eyes. -Ps 36:1
Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. … Because you are precious in My sight and honored, and because I love you … – Isa 43:1,4 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who listens to counsel is wise. -Prov 12:15
He will not let your foot slip— He who watches over you will not slumber … The LORD will keep you from all harm— He will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. -Ps 121:3,7-8 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He has put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the lowly. -Lk 1:51-52
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. -Ps 32:8 He who trusts in his own heart is a fool. But he who walks wisely will be delivered. -Prov 28:26

Hebrews 13:20-21 (NKJV)
May the God of peace … the great Shepherd of the sheep … make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Lift Up Hearts and Hands

February 21, 2010

Lamentations 3:40-41 AMP
Let us test and examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord! Let us lift up our hearts and our hands [and then with them mount up in prayer] to God in heaven.

1 Timothy 2:8
I desire therefore that in every place men should pray, without anger or quarreling or resentment or doubt [in their minds], lifting up holy hands.

Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord? Or who shall stand in His Holy Place?

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or to what is false, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation. -Ps 24:3-5

Let my prayer be set forth as incense before You, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. -Ps 141:2

I spread out my hands to You;
My soul longs for You like a thirsty land.
Answer me speedily, O LORD;
My spirit fails!
Do not hide Your face from me,
Lest I be like those who go down into the pit.
Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You. -Ps 143:6-8

Lift up your hands in holiness and to the sanctuary and bless the Lord [affectionately and gratefully praise Him]! -Ps 134:2

So will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name. -Ps 63:4

I Am Helped
Karen Holland … 2-20-2010

A heart heavy with sorrow

Bowed before His throne
At His feet
My heart yields.

I trust in Him
There’s an incense so sweet.

My grateful heart sings
I lift up my eyes and see
My Savior! Lord Jesus!
My strength, my song, my shield!

Psalm 28:7
The LORD is my strength and my [impenetrable]shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart leaps for joy, and with my song I thank Him.

Grateful Hearts
Karen Holland … 9-2006

Hearts touched, softened by pain
The sufferings of Christ flow
Weakened hearts rely on His strength
Hearts softened, draw near the throne
The comfort of Christ overflows
Boldly hearts find His mercy and grace
His comfort deeper than any pain
Hearts softened, touched
Hearts perfected by the author the finisher of their faith
Hearts lifted in praise
Hearts lifted from the depths to the heights
Grateful hearts
Thankful, lifted in praise.

2 Corinthians 1:3-5
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

Psalm 3:3
But You are a shield around me, O LORD; You bestow glory on me and lift up my head.

Thy Will
Karen Holland … 9-30-06

A heart touched, overcome with pain
Kneels in a garden
Weeping in darkness
Alone this heart prays
In anguish the heart yields.

Kneeling before the Lord, I know
No matter how deep the pain
How heavy the burden to bear
He will not let me break
He will not let me fall
He is my shield

He lifts my head
Lifted up by His hand
Secure in this knowledge I stand
No matter how deep the pain
No matter how dark the night

I am never alone
His love is deeper than any pain

For He yielded His heart
Accepted the cup
And drank.

Matthew 26:42
He went away a second time and prayed, “My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may Your will be done.”

Hebrews 12:2
Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Hebrews 4:15-16
For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

His Way is Perfect

February 19, 2010

Psalms 18:30
As for God, His way is perfect;

His way is flawless without blemish, blameless
Complete and entirely in accord with truth
His way is good.

He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He. -Deut 32:4

The LORD is righteous in all His ways and kind{loving} in all His deeds. -Ps 145:17

The word of the LORD is proven;

The words of the LORD are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times. -Ps 12:6

I bow before Your holy Temple as I worship. I will give thanks to Your name for Your unfailing love and faithfulness, because Your promises are backed by all the honor of Your name. -Ps 138:2

He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

How great is Your goodness, which You have stored up for those who fear You, which You bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in You. You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence … -Ps 31:19-20

Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;

I can trust the Lord for His way is perfect AND His word is proven! When I trust in Him I have His protection; He is my shield.

In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

To acknowledge Him is to know and obey Him. This is a call for total commitment in trust for obedience in all things.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. -Heb 12:2

Psalm 18:32
It is God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect.

As I trust in the Lord whose way is perfect, He directs may way, gives me strength to go His way and makes my way perfect!

I love you, O LORD, my strength. -Ps 18:1
You are the LORD, in whom I will trust. -Ps 18:2
You, O LORD, are a shield about me, My glory,
And the One who lifts my head.
-Ps 3:3
You are worthy to be praised. -Ps 18:3
The LORD lives! Praise be to my Rock!
Exalted be God my Saviour!
-Ps 18:46

Let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. For surely, O LORD, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favour as with a shield. -Ps 5:11-12

Watchmen Don’t Remain Silent!

February 17, 2010
What good is a watchman who won’t speak out?
-Ezk 33:6

Isaiah 56:9-12
Come, all you beasts of the field,
… come and devour, all you beasts of the forest!
Israel’s watchmen are blind,
… they all lack knowledge;
… they are all mute dogs,
… they cannot bark;
… they lie around and dream,
… they love to sleep.
They are dogs with mighty appetites;
… they never have enough.
… They are shepherds who lack understanding;
… they all turn to their own way,
… each seeks his own gain.
“Come,” each one cries, “let me get wine!
… Let us drink our fill of beer!
… And tomorrow will be like today,
… or even far better.”

Hosea 4:11
Harlotry and wine and new wine take away the heart and the mind and the spiritual understanding.

A Tree Known By Its Fruit

February 15, 2010

Matthew 7:15-16 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?

Matthew 3:8 Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control.

True fruit  is marked by true wisdom and a love of the truth. It is pure and accompanied by righteousness, faith, love, and peace.

James 3:13-18 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are done in the meekness of wisdom. 14 But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. 15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. 16 For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy. 18 And the seed whose fruit is righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.

True Wisdom Earthly Wisdom
Pure Self Seeking
Peaceable Bitter Envy
Gentle Harsh
Willing to Yeild Unteachable
Full of Mercy Heartless
Impartial Favoritism

2 Timothy 2:22 Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

What are you trusting in? What are you seeking?

Power? The ability to walk in power and signs and wonders?

Matthew 7 :21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  22Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

The ability to walk in power with signs and wonders does not determine the truth or true fruit!

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting. -Ps 139:23-24

Teach me Your way, O LORD, and I will walk in Your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name. -Ps 86:11

Behold, You desire truth in the inner being; make me therefore to know wisdom in my inmost heart. … Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me. Cast me not away from Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit. -Ps 51:6,10-12

Matthew 5:8-9 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Know Those Who Labor Among You

Every Hair

February 11, 2010

Matthew 10:29-31
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Isaiah 49:15-16 Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! Behold, I have engraved you{your name} on the palms of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me.

These scriptures really encouraged me today! Hope they encourage you too. Think of it every hair on your head is numbered and known by the Lord. You are in His continual sight and care. Engraved on the palms of His hands in the very place where Jesus’ hands were pierced! Think of this and know that the Lord will never forget or forsake you. Trust in the Lord today and always. 🙂

Psalm 9:9-10 AMP The Lord also will be a refuge and a high tower for the oppressed, a refuge and a stronghold in times of trouble (high cost, destitution, and desperation). And they who know Your name [who have experience and acquaintance with Your mercy] will lean on and confidently put their trust in You, for You, Lord, have not forsaken those who seek (inquire of and for) You [on the authority of God’s Word and the right of their necessity].

Just One Look
©2009 Jerry Bouey

Just one look to Jesus will bring healing to the soul;
Just one look to Heaven and the heart will be made whole;
Just one moment to see Him – just one glimpse of Him today;
Falling in love with Jesus is only just one look away.

One look away from the world, one look away from your sin,
One look away from your idols – looking only unto Him;
Just one look towards the Saviour, one turn away from the past,
One heart reaching towards Jesus, looking only to Him at last.

Just one look to Jesus, just the simple touch of faith;
Just one heart that hungers for something real in its place;
Just one conscience that senses there must be something greater;
Just one longing within your soul to know your own Creator.

Just one look to Jesus, a glance and then a stare;
Just one look to Jesus, to the Lord who really cares;
One look that leads to salvation, one look that’s full of faith;
One look that reveals the Saviour, one look that saves by grace.

Just one look to Jesus, the Way, the Truth, the Life;
Just one look to the Master brings calm within the strife;
Just one look filled with hope, one look that brings perfect peace;
One look towards the Saviour and the inward struggles cease.

Just one look to Jesus.
Just one look.
