Two Streams – Two Swords

It’s important to remember that there are two streams, two breakings forth of waters, two floods.

Isaiah 59:19 AMP
So [as the result of the Messiah’s intervention] they shall [reverently] fear the name of the Lord from the west, and His glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him and put him to flight [for He will come like a rushing stream which the breath of the Lord drives].

Its the breath of the LORD’s mouth that puts the enemy to flight. This stream from the mouth of the Lord is a sharp sword; the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God(Eph 6:17;Rev 19:15; Isa 11:3-4).

The enemy has an ‘opposite’ stream or flood. Instead of the sword of the Spirit, the word of God which is pure, tried and refined(Ps 12:6), the enemies flood contains lies – a mixture(Rev 12:13-17; Jer 46:7-10).

So what is our protection against this flood of lies, this flood of mixture? What is in the apple of your eye? How much do you love the Lord’s truth? Are His words and teaching your prized possession? How diligently are you seeking and guarding it?

The eye of the Beloved holds His truth — the word of God the sword of the Spirit. The eye of the deceived also holds a sword, but it is the sword of delusion, the sword of judgement which devours until satisifed(Zech 11:17; Rev 13:3, 14-15; 2 Thess 2:10-16; Rev 17:1-2).

Proverbs 4:20-23
My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your sight; Keep them in the midst of your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all their body. Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.

Scripture:
Revelation 12:13-17
Now when the dragon saw that he had been cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman who gave birth to the male Child . But the woman was given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is nourished for a time and times and half a time, from the presence of the serpent. And the serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth after the woman, so that he might cause her to be swept away with the flood. But the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed up the flood which the dragon had spewed out of his mouth. And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Jeremiah 46:7-10
Who is this that rises like the Nile, like its *streams turbulent at flood stage? Egypt rises like the Nile, like its streams turbulent at flood stage. Egypt says, ‘I will arise and cover the earth. I will destroy cities and the people who inhabit them.’ Charge, O horses! Drive furiously, O charioteers! March on, O warriors—men of Cush and Put who carry shields, men of Lydia who draw the bow. But that day belongs to the Lord, the LORD Almighty—a day of vengeance, for vengeance on his foes. The sword will devour till it is satisfied, till it has quenched its thirst with blood. For the Lord, the LORD Almighty, will offer sacrifice in the land of the north by the River Euphrates.

*streams
The word translated “streams” here refers to the streams of the Nile (cf. Exod 7:19; 8:1) for parallel usage.

The hubris of the Egyptian Pharaoh is referred to in vv. 7-8 as he compares his might to that of the Nile River whose annual flooding was responsible for the fertility of Egypt. A very similar picture of the armies of Assyria overcoming everything in its path is presented in Isa 8:7-8.

Proverbs 7:2
NASB MSG BBE
Keep my commandments and live, And my teaching as the apple of your eye. Do what I say and you’ll live well. My teaching is as precious as your eyesight–guard it! Keep my rules and you will have life; let my teaching be to you as the light of your eyes;

The apple of His eye.
*apple – ‘iyshown [0380]

Definition: 1) pupil of the eye
2) middle of the night (that is the deepest blackness) diminutive from 376; the little man of the eye; the pupil or ball; hence, the middle (of night):-apple (of the eye), black, obscure.

Literally the phrase ‘the apple of the eye’, is “the little man or daughter or the black{pupil} of the eye.” It is that part of the eye which reflects what you are looking at; what you are focused on. The thing that is reflected in the pupil of your eye most frequently is what is most important and precious to you; your prized possession.

Matthew 6:22-23
NASB NLT KJV
The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light.

But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light that is in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!

Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul.

But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness. If the light you think you have is really darkness, how deep that darkness will be!

The light of the body is the eye. If therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee is darkness, how great is that darkness!
