To the Thirsty

WAIT and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing]. -Isa 55:1

The invitaion is to the thirsty, to come to the waters. To come, buy and eat — to buy with no money. What is being bought and eaten?

Buy the truth and sell it not; not only that, but also get discernment and judgment, instruction and understanding. -Prov 23:23

Diligently seek the truth as one would seek hidden treasure -Mt 13:44;Prov 2:1-5

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. -Jn 14:6

Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth. -Jn 17:17

And He [further] said to me, It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I [Myself] will give water without price from the fountain (springs) of the water of Life. -Rev 21:6

Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness of spiritual joy]. -Isa 55:2

The invitation is to the thirsty, the hungry  – but it does not say to eat and drink whatever is set before you. EAT ONLY WHAT IS GOOD, only what the Lord Jesus Christ sets before you Himself!

You must distinguish[to divide; separate, discriminate, differ, select, set apart] between the holy[apartness, holiness, sacredness, separateness] and the common[unholy, profane, common, sand], between the unclean[ethically and religiously impure] and the clean[pure physically; clean morally, ethically] … -Lev 10:10

Do not labor for food that perishes! Seek the bread of heaven, the one true bread, Jesus the bread of life. Keep His commandments and live. Guard His teachings as the apple of your eye, as your most prized possession. -Prov 7:2

Guard your heart, eat only what is good, for from it flow the springs of life.

John 6:24-35 So when the people saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Caper’na-um, seeking Jesus. 25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, YOU SEEK ME, NOT BECAUSE YOU SAW THE SIGNS, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you; for on him has God the Father set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30 So they said to him, “THEN WHAT SIGN DO YOU DO, THAT WE MAY SEE  AND BELIEVE YOU? What work do you perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, `HE GAVE THEM BREAD FROM HEAVEN TO EAT.’” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven; my Father gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “LORD, GIVE US THIS BREAD ALWAYS.” 35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to me shall not hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst.

Matthew 4:3-4 The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.”

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

Proverbs 4:20-23 My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to the whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for from it flow the springs of life.

Notice John 6 — what Jesus told those seeking a sign. Power, miracles & signs and wonders will not be ‘THE SIGN’. True bread is the sign.

“Lord, give us this bread always.”

I also noticed in John 6 — what Jesus told those seeking a sign. Power, miracles & signs and wonders will not be ‘THE SIGN’. True bread is the sign.

    John 6:54-58
Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. 55 For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread which came down from heaven — not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.” NKJV

    Jeremiah 2:13
For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns — broken cisterns that can hold no water. NKJV

The definition of evil is to forsake God, the fountain of living waters, and find satisfaction in something other than Him; which really gives us no satisfaction at all.

Amen, love it! There are so many who look for this{power, miracles, signs&wonders}. I just wrote something from Amos 8, I’ll copy it here…

Amos 8, in which it says (paraphrased cause its not in front of me) that in those days there will be a famine of the HEARING of Gods word. It does not say there willbe a FAMINE of GODS WORD, but a famine of the HEARING! that means to HEAR is our DAILY BREAD! To … See moreHEAR GODS WORD IS WHAT KEEPS US GOING. How do we hear? I would have to contrast that to how do we eat? RIGHT? Do we gulp it down without breath, often doing other things, paying no heed to what is going in, and giving no thanks? Are we willing to settle for processed and unrefined? Have we taken care of our DIGESTION SYSTEM, or how we process what we are taking in? All these things are important to consider because it then says that people will run to and fro in search of a word from God but will not find it. NOT FIND GODS WORD ANYWHERE? No, the reason is because of HOW we HEARD BEFORE THE FAMINE! there will come a day when those who have not taken care of their digestive system, spiritually speaking, will be unable to take in the nutrients provided by the food that is available, and thosepeople will starve. This literally happens in the body by the way, the physical body. Most illnesses have to do with digestive system (how we process what we eat) and the immune system (our ability to cry mercy rather than judgement)…. With faulty immune systems and digestive systems, no matter how many vitamins you take, your stomach will not absorb them. selah….

    Darlene, this is profound ….

    Amos 8:11-14
11 “ Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord GOD,

“ That I will send a famine on the land,
    Not a famine of bread,
    Nor a thirst for water,
But of hearing the words of the LORD.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
    And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD,
    But shall not find it.
13 “ In that day the fair virgins
    And strong young men
    Shall faint from thirst.
14 Those who swear by the sin of Samaria,
    Who say,

‘ As your god lives, O Dan!’
And, ‘As the way of Beersheba lives!’
They shall fall and never rise again.”

The Lord seems to be telling us that the judgement for not eating the true bread{not discriminating what we eat} — is a famine for the hearing the words of the LORD.

    It’s not a famine of bread, it’s a famine of hearing …

The true bread is pure, tried and tested; it contains no mixture.

    Psalm 12:6
The words of the LORD are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.

They shall wander … They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD, but shall not find it. ……

    Mark 4:24-25
Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. 25 For whoever has, to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

  6. khollandsblog Says:

Steve this is good! What you are drinking is just as important as what you eat! Also I never noticed this definition of evil.

This fits well with what Jesus told those who cry ‘Lord, Lord’ — they have the power, miracles, signs & wonders — but not the true bread or the living water!

    Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
