Lord Jesus prepare our hearts to bow down in delight at Your feet before Your throne. Let our worship be as incense, pleasing and acceptable in Your sight. Let Your word be the joy of our hearts, that our lips may praise You. Help us abide, sheltered beneath Your wings, kept as the apple of Your eye in the wonder and awe of Your presence, upheld by You mighty right hand in the fullness of joy.

May the God of peace … the great Shepherd of the sheep … make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen. -Heb 13:20-21 (NKJV)

Isaiah 11:3 His delight is in the fear of the LORD*, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears.

Psalm 112:1 Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments.

Psalm 147:11 The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, in those who hope in His mercy.

Psalm 86:11-12 Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forevermore.

Psalm 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments; His praise endures forever.

Word Study

From: NetBible Isa 11:3
* The Hebrew text reads literally, “and his smelling is in the fear of the Lord.” In Amos 5:21 the Hiphil of רוּחַ (ruakh, “smell”) carries the nuance of “smell with delight, get pleasure from.” There the Lord declares that he does not “smell with delight” (i.e., get pleasure from) Israel’s religious assemblies, which probably stand by metonymy for the incense offered during these festivals. In Isa 11:3 there is no sacrificial context to suggest such a use, but it is possible that “the fear of the Lord” is likened to incense. This coming king will get the same kind of delight from obeying (fearing) the Lord, as a deity does in the incense offered by worshipers. Some regard such an explanation as strained in this context, and prefer to omit this line from the text as a virtual dittograph of the preceding statement.

to smell, breathe in with pleasure, to perceive, to accept with pleasure

He’s Here With Us!

December 25, 2010

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel.

Matthew 1:23 “The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will cal…l him Immanuel”— which means, “God with us.”

The sign: Immanuel — He’s here with us! HALLELUYAH!

He Will Bring Us Goodness and Light!

December 22, 2010

Luke 1:78-79 AMP … Because of and through the heart of tender mercy and loving-kindness of our God, a Light{Dayspring} from on high will dawn upon us and visit [us]. 79To shine upon and give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct and guide our feet in a straight line into the way of peace.

Do you see what I see?
A star, a star dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite …

Listen to what I say
Do you hear what I hear?

A child, a child sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light …

Ephesians 5:8-10you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light 9(for the fruit of the Light{Spirit} consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), 10trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord.
Celebrate the Presence of the King!

Genesis 12:2-3 And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; And I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”

Hebrews 6:16-20,11 Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. … We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, so that what you hope for may be fully realized. .

Hebrews 11:11-12 By faith Abraham, even though he was past age—and Sarah herself was barren—was enabled to become a father because he considered Him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.

Hebrews 10:19-23 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.

The Strength of Our Anchor

December 3, 2010

Psalm 121:1-2 AMP I WILL lift up my eyes to the hills [around Jerusalem, to sacred Mount Zion and Mount Moriah]–From whence shall my help come? … My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth.

Lift up your eyes, discouraged one,
The Lord your help will be;
New strength will come from Him who said,
“For rest, come unto Me.” -Anon

The storms of life prove the strength of our anchor
Jesus is the anchor that will always hold!

The storms of life
prove the strength of our anchor.

Athough the stress and strain of life
My thread of faith may break,
The cable of His faithfulness
No storm can ever shake. -Anon

Jesus is the anchor
that will always hold.
-Heb 6:19

Psalm 125:1-2 AMP THOSE WHO trust in, lean on, and confidently hope in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides and stands fast forever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about His people from this time forth and forever.

Lord Jesus, help us always to look up and place our hope in You, in Your unfailing steadfast love and mercy.
