Joel 3:16The LORD roars from Zion and utters His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth tremble. But the LORD is a refuge for His people and a stronghold to the sons of Israel.

Psalm 29:4The voice of the LORD is powerful; The voice of the LORD is full of majesty.

Job 37:2-5Listen closely to the thunder of His voice, and the rumbling that goes out from His mouth. Under the whole heaven He lets it loose, and His lightning to the ends of the earth. After it, a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, and He does not restrain the lightnings when His voice is heard. God thunders with His voice wondrously, doing great things which we cannot comprehend.

Jesus the Lifter of My Head

June 20, 2011

Yesterday there seemed to be many obstacles in the way – blocking the path the Lord has set my feet on.
I cried out to Him for help. He encouraged me with this song – maybe it will encourage you too.

Psalm 3:1-4 AMP … LORD, HOW they are increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are saying of me, There is no help for him in God.
Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill.
Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

I will lift my eyes past the hills
I will lift my eyes past the mountains
And trust in You, Jesus
To lift my head.

My glory, my shield
Jesus the lifter of my head
My glory, my shield
Jesus, I’ll trust in You
To lift my head

Past the hills
Past the mountains
Jesus, I’ll trust in You
To lift my head.

Isaiah 40:3-5 AMP … A voice of one who cries: Prepare in the wilderness the way of the Lord [clear away the obstacles]; make straight and smooth in the desert a highway for our God! Every valley shall be lifted and filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked and uneven shall be made straight and level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory (majesty and splendor) of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.

Psalm 27:5-6 AMP … In the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock. 6And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

Psalm 61:2 AMP … From the end of the earth will I cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and fainting; lead me to the rock that is higher than I [yes, a rock that is too high for me].

Lilies Dripping Liquid Myrrh

June 10, 2011

Psalm 2:11-12Serve the Lord with reverent awe and worshipful fear; rejoice and be in high spirits with trembling [lest you displease Him]. Kiss the Son [pay homage to Him in purity], lest He be angry and you perish in the way, for soon shall His wrath be kindled. O blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are all those who seek refuge and put their trust in Him.

This morning I was thinking about the phrase ‘Kiss the Son’ and my article of the same name. My heart was stirred …

Psalm 45:1 … For the director of music. To the tune of “Lilies”. Of the Sons of Korah. A maskil. A wedding/love song. [KAREN’S version :)]
My heart is stirred by a beautiful song, it overflows its banks, beauty
bubbles up and bursts forth. I sing of the things which I have made
touching (kissing?) the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer,
shaping the river into words!

My Jesus
My beautiful Jesus
O how I long
To bow down in purity before my King
To taste and see -Ps 34:8
Sweetness itself -Song 5:16
His kisses in my mouth -Song 1:2
Sweeter than honey -Ps 119:103
The goodness of the Holy One
Anointed lips, the lips of the Son -Ps 45:2
Lilies dripping liquid myrrh -Song 5:13

My Jesus
My beautiful Jesus
O how I long to sing
At Your right hand eternal pleasures -Ps 16:11
Jesus, my beautiful Jesus
You are my sweet sweet song -Ex 15:2Isa 12:2
For evermore.

Be Still There is a Healer

June 8, 2011

“Be still there is a healer
His love is deeper than the sea
His mercy is unfailing”

Great is His faithfulness!

Lamentations 3:21-23
This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
22 Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.

Psalm 46:10-11 … Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
11 The LORD of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Psalm 103:11 … For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great are His mercy and loving-kindness toward those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him.

The Lord Your Keeper

June 4, 2011

Psalm 121:5, 8 The Lord is your keeper … The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forever.

Psalm 85:13Righteousness{peace} goes before Him, and makes His footsteps our pathway{sets us in the way of His steps}.

1 Samuel 2:9
He keeps the feet of His godly ones, but the wicked ones are silenced in darkness; For not by might{strength} shall a man prevail.

I was thinking about the above scriptures this morning, how the Lord guides and keeps you as you go on His way. He gave me this song:

The Lord Your Keeper

The Lord your keeper -Ps 121:5
The Lord your peace -Ps 29:11
Gives strength for the day -Deut 33:25
To follow His way. -Ps 85:13; 1 Sam 2:9

So fear not
And be not dismayed
For the Lord who is with you
He will keep you always. -Isa 41:10

This prompted me to study the scripture for ‘strength for the day’. This really encouraged me! He is the Rock beneath our feet. He will not let our foot slip for He who keeps us will not sleep.

Word Study

Deut 33:24-25 NIV … About Asher he said: “Most blessed of sons is Asher; let him be favored by his brothers, and let him bathe his feet in oil. The bolts of your gates will be iron and bronze, and your strength will equal your days.

NKJV … And of Asher he said: “Asher is most blessed of sons; Let him be favored by his brothers, and let him dip his foot in oil. Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be .

From Deut 33:24 Commentary
John Gill:
and let him dip his foot in oil;
have such plenty of it, that if he would he might dip or wash his feet in it; and it was usual not only to anoint the head, but the feet also, with oil, -Lk 7:46

Matthew Henry:
All shall be sanctified to true believers; if their way be rough, their feet shall be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. As thy days, so shall thy strength be. The day is often in Scripture put for the events of the day; it is a promise that God would graciously and constantly support under trials and troubles, whatever they were. It is a promise sure to all the spiritual seed of Abraham. Have they work allotted? They shall have strength to do it. Have they burdens appointed? They shall have strength, and never be tempted above what they are able to bear.

From Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
Thy shoes shall be iron and brass
*under your shoes shall be iron = strength
shoes of peace -Eph 6:15

From Deut 33:25 Commentary
John Gill:
Thy shoes shall be iron and brass
though some Jewish writers take the sense to be, that the land of Asher was so strongly fortified as if it had been enclosed with walls of brass and iron, or the gates of its cities were shut up with bolts and bars of iron and brass, as Jarchi, Kimchi, and Ben Melech observe; so the Arabic:

and as thy days, so shall thy strength be;
the same in old age as in youth; which is the sense of the Latin Vulgate version, and all the Targums: such were the vigour and strength of. Moses himself, -Deut 34:7; and so may denote a renewal of youth, like that of eagles; and, in a spiritual sense, a revival of the graces of the Spirit of God, as to the exercise of them, and an increase of spiritual strength, so that the inward man is renewed day by day; and may also denote such a measure of strength given, as is proportioned to the events that daily befall, or to the services and sufferings men are called unto; -1 Cor 10:13.

Feet washed in fragrant oil would leave fragrant oily footprints wherever they walked! -2 Cor 2:14-17

Hinds’ Feet

June 4, 2011

Habakkuk 3:19The Sovereign LORD is my strength; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet{the feet of a deer}, He enables me to walk on the heights.

Psalm 85:13Righteousness{peace} goes before Him, and makes His footsteps our pathway{sets us in the way of His steps}.

Psalm 85:10Mercy and truth have met together; Righteousness and peace have kissed.

The hind is a female deer, a doe who lives in the mountains. The hind moves in a very precise way. The rear feet step exactly in the footsteps where the front feet have just been; making the hind the most sure-footed of all mountain animals.

1 Samuel 2:9He keeps the feet of His godly ones, but the wicked ones are silenced in darkness; For not by might{strength} shall a man prevail.
