Till He[Uzziah] Became Strong

September 17, 2011

2 Chronicles 26:5, 15He[Uzziah] continued to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding through the vision of God; and as long as he sought the LORD, God prospered him. … his fame spread afar, for he was marvelously helped until he was strong.

Uzziah was marvelously helped, as long as he sought the LORD. But when he became strong, his heart became proud. Pride was Uzziah’s undoing.

But when he became strong, his heart was so proud that he acted corruptly, and he was unfaithful to the LORD his God, for he entered the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense. -2 Chron 26:16

He usurped the priests’ duties and became a leper(v16-21).

When all goes well and I feel strong,
Oh, help me, Lord, to see
That I must place my confidence
In You and not in me. —Anon.

🙂
From NetBible 2 Chron 26 the word Uzziah[05818] means “my strength is Jehovah”! His father’s name Amaziah[0558] means “Jehovah is mighty” and his mother’s name Jecholiah[03203] means “Jehovah is able”.

Pursue the Peace of God

September 15, 2011

Psalm 34:14 AMP … Depart from evil and do good; seek, inquire for, and crave peace and pursue (go after) it!

How hard do I seek the Lord’s peace? Do I ask Him for it? Do I crave it? Do I run after it?

Philippians 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

See that no one repays another with evil for evil, but always seek after that which is good for one another and for all people. Rejoice always, -1 Thess 5:15-16

Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. -1 Thess 5:17-18

Lord Jesus, thank You that You are our peace and joy. Help us to rejoice in You always. Show us how to pray without ceasing, and in everything to give thanks. Thank You Jesus that thru You, we have the peace of God which guards our hearts and minds.

Jesus, help us each confidently trust You. Keep our minds stayed, fixed on You. -Isa 26:3
