Why Downcast, O my Soul?

October 26, 2011

Psalm 42:6 AMP … O my God, my life[soul] is cast down upon me [and I find the burden more than I can bear]; therefore will I [earnestly] remember You from the land of the Jordan [River] and the [summits of Mount] Hermon, from the little mountain Mizar.

What do you do when you find that your soul is downcast? When it seems your life is burdensome – more than you can bear?

Studying this psalm gives an answer and hope. Look what the psalmist does:

I will earnestly remember You

The Lord my Rock(from xref)
From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. -Ps 61:2

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe(set safely on high). -Prov 18:10

  • *From NetBible Prov 18:10
“running” to the Lord refers to a whole-hearted and unwavering trust in God’s protection

I will remember and
Run to You with whole-hearted, unwavering trust.
I will run to You the Lord my God, my Savior
My Strong Tower
My everlasting Rock!

Daily I will run to You.

For each day You bear my burdens
AND carry me in Your arms!

Blessed be the Lord, praise God our savior! Day after day He bears our burdens and carries us in His arms. -Ps 68:19

Isaiah 26:4 AMP … So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]].

After I wrote this, I heard this song on the way to work!

Come Hungry

October 21, 2011

Come hungry
Come thirsty

WAIT and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing]. -Isa 55:1 AMP

Come empty waiting to be filled!

As the deer pants for the water brooks,
… so pants(longs & crys out for) my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
… When shall I come and appear before God?{see the face of God?} -Ps 42:1-2 NKJV

As the deer pants

Victory in Surrender

October 15, 2011

There is victory in surrender
… when we are conquered by Christ!

Who can separate us from the love of Christ? Will trouble or distress or persecution or famine? Or nakedness or danger or war? 36 It is written,

“Because of You, we face death all day long.
We are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” —(Psalm 44:22)

37 No! In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him{Christ} who loved us. -Rom 8:35-37

In this world you will have tribulation
But take heart, take courage
Be of good cheer.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. -Josh 1:9

I AM has overcome the world!
In Me you have victory
In Me you have peace. –Jn 16:33

Thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. -2 Cor 2:14

Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. -1 Cor 15:57

Lord Jesus help me to surrender all to You as a living sacrifice(Rom 12:1). Help me to love You with all my heart, with all my soul, with all my strength and with all my mind(Lk 10:27). Thank You that nothing can separate me from the love of Christ. Help me to rest in and display that love. Help me to bring the sweet aroma of Christ every place I go. I give to You, my Lord Jesus Christ, all honor, glory and praise.

Poured Out Mercy

Everlasting Mercy

October 6, 2011

Psalm 103:15-19 AMP … As for man, his days are as grass; as a flower of the field, so he flourishes. 16For the wind passes over it and it is gone, and its place shall know it no more.

The grass withers and the flowers fade …

17But the mercy and loving-kindness of the Lord are from everlasting to everlasting upon those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him, and His righteousness is to children’s children–

18To such as keep His covenant [hearing, receiving, loving, and obeying it] and to those who [earnestly] remember His commandments to do them [imprinting them on their hearts].

19The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His kingdom rules over all.

… but the word of our God stands forever. -Isa 40:8

The mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear Him.

Blessed! But, how vast the contrast between the fading flower and the everlasting God! How wonderful that His mercy should link our frailty with His eternity, and make us everlasting too!

His Servants Know

October 2, 2011

John 2:1-11On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
4 Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”
11 This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

When there is NO wine ….
Do WHATEVER He tells you!

Only His servants will see the water turned to wine.
Only His servants will know where the wine came from,
for they have drawn it at His command.

This wine tastes like no other that came before.

  • The point of the proverb is that the human being with many plans is uncertain, but the Lord with a sure plan/purpose gives correct counsel.
