Spirit and Life

August 14, 2012

Your words, O LORD, are Spirit and life

It is the Spirit who gives life[eternal]; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. -Jn 6:63

The unfolding of Your word, the flowering of truth
brings life and rejoicing to the heart;
Restoring the soul.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. -Jn 1:14

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life”.  -Jn 6:68

The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. -Ps 119:130

The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring[reviving] the soul; The testimony[statues] of the LORD is sure[trustowrthy], making wise the simple. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy[rejoicing] to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant[pure], giving light to the eyes. -Ps 19:7-8

My child, pay attention to my words; listen attentively to my sayings. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and healing to one’s entire body. Watch over[guard] your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life[it is the wellspring of life]. -Pro 4:20-23

A Harp in My Heart

August 5, 2012

There is a harp in my heart
And only You can play it
There is a song in my spirit
And only You can sing it

Awake my heart
Awake my soul
to sing

Jesus, Jesus, O Jesus
Deep in my soul
Jesus, Jesus, O Jesus
You are beautiful my sweet
Sweet Song.

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make melody {in my heart}. Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn{with my song}. I will praise You, O Lord, among the peoples; I will sing to You among the nations. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. -Ps57:7-10

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. -Eph 5:18-21

The LORD is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation{victory}; This is my God, and I will praise Him{prepare Him a habitation}; My father’s God, and I will extol Him. -Ex 15:2

Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’ Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. -Isa 12:2-3

11  Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them shout from the top of the mountains.
12 Let them give glory unto the Lord, and declare His praise in the islands.
13 The Lord shall go forth as a mighty man, He shall stir up jealousy like a man of war: He shall cry, yea, roar; He shall prevail against His enemies.

Thoughts Prayers and Breath

August 3, 2012

I love this quote by Charles H. Spurgeon

Let your thoughts be psalms

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy––meditate on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. -Phil 4:8-9

You will keep him in perfect peace; whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. -Isa 26:3

May my meditation be sweet to Him; I will be glad in the LORD. {May my thoughts be sweet to Him as expressed in His songs of praise.} -Ps 104:34

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. {May my thoughts be pleasing to Him making music in my heart like the strumming of a harp.} -Ps 19:14

your prayers incense

May my prayer be set before You like incense; may the lifting up of my hands be like the evening sacrifice. -Ps 141:2

Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless the LORD. -Ps 134:2

and your breath praise.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD! -Ps 150:6

All Your works shall praise You, O Lord, and Your loving ones shall bless You [affectionately and gratefully shall Your saints confess and praise You]! -Ps 145:10
