Ordained Strength is Perfected Praise

Matthew 21:15-16But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?

Psalm 8:2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

Look closely at the above verses. Jesus references Psalm 8:2 when criticized for allowing children to praise. It looks like a misquote with ‘perfected praise’ replacing ‘ordained strength’, is it? Or is Jesus teaching that ‘ordained strength’ is ‘perfected praise’. Could it be that Jesus is teaching that the power, the strength of praise is to silence the enemy?!

Look at the word study below. The word for enemy that first appears in Psalm 8:2 is interesting, it refers to the enemy who tries to bind, shut up or afflict, isn’t this exactly what the chief priests and scribes were trying to do to the children at the temple?
