Inquire First for the Word of the LORD!

March 29, 2013

1 Kings 22:1-8Three years passed without war between Aram and Israel. 2 In the third year Jehoshaphat the king of Judah came down to the king of Israel. 3 Now the king of Israel said to his servants, “Do you know that Ramoth-gilead belongs to us, and we are still doing nothing to take it out of the hand of the king of Aram?” 4 And he said to Jehoshaphat, “Will you go with me to battle at Ramoth-gilead?” And Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “I am as you are, my people as your people, my horses as your horses.”

5 Moreover, Jehoshaphat said to the king of Israel, “Please inquire first for the word of the Lord.” 6 Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, about four hundred men, and said to them, “Shall I go against Ramoth-gilead to battle or shall I refrain?” And they said, “Go up, for the Lord will give it into the hand of the king.” 7 But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not yet a prophet of the Lord here that we may inquire of him?” 8 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, “There is yet one man by whom we may inquire of the Lord, but I hate him, because he does not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. He is Micaiah son of Imlah.” But Jehoshaphat said, “Let not the king say so.”

Do not ask the Lord to bless what you’ve already decided
Or seek a word that agrees with what you’ve already decided
Inquire FIRST for the word of the Lord
Ask for His direction
Don’t rush the Spirit of the Lord
WAIT
To be lead by His mighty hand
Trust and obey!

Proverbs 3:5-6Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Faith and Strength

March 24, 2013

Isaiah 40:31 AMP … But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.

Isaiah 64:4 AMP … For from of old no one has heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who works and shows Himself active on behalf of him who [earnestly] waits for Him.

Trust in the Lord to equip you and strengthen you to do what He has called you to do
AND wait upon Him to do the rest
Wait for Him to do what only He can do!

Jeremiah 32:17 AMP … Alas, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! There is nothing too hard or too wonderful for You—

Isaiah 30:18 AMP … And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up{rises up}, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]!

The Lord Equips

March 22, 2013

The Lord equips those He calls!

For His divine power has bestowed upon us all things that [are requisite and suited] to life and godliness, through the [full, personal] knowledge of Him Who called us by and to His own glory and excellence (virtue). -2Pe1:3 AMP

When you are weak, His power and strength are shown most effective

But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me! -2Co12:9 AMP

When you feel like you are losing your mind, His power and love provide calm self-control.

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control. -2Ti1:7 AMP

The Lord wants to use you
Trust Him to equip you to do what you can do
AND He will do the rest!

Faithful is He Who is calling you [to Himself] and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it [fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you] -1Th5:24

.

Lord remind me that whatever You have called me to do or face today, that You are faithful to give me Your power in my weakness. When I feel inadequate, help me to do what I can and rely on Your strength and power to do the rest. Open my eyes to see Your mighty hand keeping me as I trust in You. I pray in Your name, my Lord Jesus Christ.

.
Blessed be the Lord my ROCK who equips me for battle–whom shall I fear? -Ps144:1,18:1-2,27:1
.

.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
-Ro8:31

Small Beginnings

March 16, 2013

Do not despise small beginnings -Zech4:10
It’s NOT about the size of the seed you sow
It’s about My SPIRIT that makes it grow!
-Zech4:6

Mark 4:26-32And He was saying, “The kingdom of God is like a man who casts seed upon the soil; 27 and he goes to bed at night and gets up by day, and the seed sprouts and grows—how, he himself does not know. 28 The soil produces crops by itself; first the blade, then the head, then the mature grain in the head. 29 But when the crop permits, he immediately puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

30 And He said, “How shall we picture the kingdom of God, or by what parable shall we present it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the soil, though it is smaller than all the seeds that are upon the soil, 32 yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and forms large branches; so that the birds of the air can nest under its shade.”

Don’t get discouraged or lose heart!
Like the farmer – plant and expectantly wait
Know this process takes time
Don’t become frustrated or give up
Know in due time you will reap.
-Ja5:7;Gal6:9

I AM utterly trustworthy and faithful! -1Thes5:24;Phil1:6

More Blessed than Mary

March 13, 2013

Luke 1:28,48-49 And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”
… For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. For He who is mighty has done great things for me,And holy is His name.

Here Mary is called “highly favored”, “blessed among women” and “from henceforth all generations” shall call her blessed. Imagine the blessing to be chosen the mother of Jesus Christ, Son of God!

Luke 11:27-28 NLT … As he was speaking, a woman in the crowd called out, “God bless your mother—the womb from which you came, and the breasts that nursed you!”
Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.”

Those who hear the word of God and put it into practice are even more blessed than Mary!

Wow! Imagine that!

Psalm 25:14 AMPC … The secret [of the sweet, satisfying companionship] of the Lord have they who fear (revere and worship) Him, and He will show them His covenant and reveal to them its [deep, inner] meaning.

Psalm 86:11-12 AMPC … Teach me Your way, O Lord, that I may walk and live in Your truth; direct and unite my heart [solely, reverently] to fear and honor Your name. I will confess and praise You, O Lord my God, with my whole (united) heart; and I will glorify Your name forevermore.

Overwhelmed Heart

March 9, 2013

Praise You Lord Jesus
You hear me when I cry out to You!
No matter where I am

No matter how faint or overwhelmed my heart feels
You are with me
You hand will lay hold of me and
Lead me
. -Ps139:7-10

My flesh and my heart may fail
But You are my Rock
The firm strength of my heart
My Portion forever.
-Ps73:26

Psalm 61:2From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed{faint}; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Beautiful One

March 3, 2013

From: You are beautiful. And, this is my confession

I found her-
Somewhere in this world.

I only watched, silent,
and i somehow changed.

Her sorrow,
feels like a cold winter night, spent in loneliness.
But her joy, is the rising of the warm winter sun.

As my eyes slide away from her to look at the world,
I notice the air has taken her scent,
and the sight has taken her color.

You are beautiful.
And, this is my confession.

By: Khawaja Hamad

The above poem stirred my heart. Even though it’s about being captivated by a woman, it made me think of how the Lord Jesus Christ has captivated and captured my heart.

2 Corinthians 2:14-15  … Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.

Ephesians 5:1-2 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma.

Beautiful One
Your fragrance breathed out
Has drawn me in
An incense so sweet
Breathed into my heart
Beauty beyond compare
I’ve tasted and seen
Joy unspeakable
Love everlasting, in the face of Christ -Je31:3;2Co4:6
Beautiful One
Forever I’ll run after thee.

Song 1:2-4 … May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine. Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes{oil}; your name is like perfume{oil} poured out. Therefore the virgins love you. Draw me away! Let us run together! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. How right they are to adore you!

More than Able!

March 2, 2013

Jeremiah 8:18-22O my Comforter in sorrow, my heart is faint within me. 19Listen to the cry of my people from a land far away: “Is the LORD not in Zion? Is her King no longer there?” “Why have they provoked me to anger with their images, with their worthless foreign idols?” 20″The harvest is past, the summer has ended, and we are not saved.” 21Since my people are crushed, I am crushed; I mourn, and horror grips me. 22Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?

There is a balm of Gilead
Jesus Christ
Precious oil, healing balm
He is able, more than able
To heal your body
To heal your soul
He is able to make you whole
Completely whole.

There is a balm of Gilead
Jesus Christ
More than able to do the impossible -Lk1:36-37
Nothing too hard -Jer32:17
He is able more than able
To restore and make you whole
With more peace and joy than you’ve ever known.

More than able
Jesus Christ
Precious oil -Song1:2-4
More peace and joy than you’ve ever known -Ro15:13
The balm of Gilead to make you whole.

Psalm 145:3 … Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; His greatness no one can fathom.

Ephesians 3:20-21 … Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
