Daily Bread and Thanks

June 30, 2013

John 6:11 … And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.

John 6:23 however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks––

Look at the relationship between distributing bread, eating bread and giving thanks. AFTER giving thanks the bread is distributed and eaten. Thanks here means to be grateful and is often associated with saying grace at a meal. This made me think of the Lord’s Supper.

Mark 14:22-26And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed[2127] and broke it , and gave it to them and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.” Then He took the cup, and when He had given thanks[2168] He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And He said to them, “This is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many. Truly I say to you, I will never again drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” After singing a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

The above passage reveals another word for thanks which means to celebrate with praise. Also notice the singing of a hymn. The Hallel Psalms (Ps 113-118) were sung during the meal. Psalms 113 and 114 were sung just before the second cup and 115-118 were sung at the end of the meal, after the fourth, or hallel cup.

When asking for daily bread or words from the Lord, try giving thanks from a grateful heart and celebrate the ‘bread’ that is given with praise and a song!

Matthew 6:11 AMP … Give us this day our daily bread.

Luke 4:4 AMP … And Jesus replied to him, It is written, Man shall not live and be sustained by (on) bread alone but by every word and expression of God.

Matthew 6:11 AMP … Give us this day our daily bread.

John 6:33-34 AMP … For the Bread of God is He Who comes down out of heaven and gives life to the world. Then they said to Him, Lord, give us this bread always (all the time)!

Commit Your Way to the Lord

June 22, 2013

Psalm 37:5 AMP … Commit your way to the Lord [roll and repose each care of your load on Him]; trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.

Proverbs 16:3 AMP … Roll your works upon the Lord [commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and] so shall your plans be established and succeed.

Commit your way to the Lord

Commit everything you do to the LORD -Ps37:5 NLT
Commit your future to the LORD -Ps37:5 NET
Commit your works -Pr16:3 NASB

Commit your actions to the LORD -Ps16:3 NLT

From Commentary Ps 37:5The meaning of “Commit your way to the Lord” is, “Cast thyself and thy life unreservedly upon God – yield thyself wholly to Him – look to Him for support and guidance.”

Roll the whole burden of life upon the Lord. “Roll” emphasizes letting go and entrusting the Lord. Commit THEN trust!

Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident)  in Him

From Commentary Ps 37:5Our destiny shall be joyfully accomplished if we confidently commit/entrust all to our Lord.

Trust in Him – literally “on Him” and He will do what you can not.

Your thoughts will become agreeable to His will

He will bring it to pass; Your plans will succeed.

From Commentary Pro 16:3As a child opens its heart to a tender parent, so do thou show to God thy desires and intentions, trusting to His care and providence. And thy thoughts shall be established. The plans and deliberations out of which the “works” sprang shall meet with a happy fulfilment, because they are undertaken according to the will of God, and directed to the end by His guidance

Commit your way, your all to the  Lord and wait for His strength and guidance. Sometimes He may take us on a different path than expected to accomplish His will.

Lord Jesus help me to come to You as Your trusting child and commit whatever I do, to You each day. Let me wait for and follow Your direction. Thank You that as I do my part, You will do what I can not and Your plans will succeed!

Proverbs 3:5-6 … Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Two are Better than One

June 21, 2013

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 NKJV … Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; But how can one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

Safer in Groups{video}

Ecclesiastes 4:12 NLT … A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.

Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of His coming back again is drawing near. -Heb 10:25 NLT

Holy Spirit Rain Down!

June 5, 2013

Psalm 91:14 AMP … Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness—trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].

Holy Spirit rain down
How we need Your touch again!

Isaiah 64:4 AMP … For from of old no one has heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who works and shows Himself active on behalf of him who [earnestly] waits for Him.

No eye has seen
A God like You, Jesus
Who works and acts on behalf of
Those who earnestly love, seek and
Trust you!
-He11:6;1Co2:9;2Chr16:9;Deu4:29

Holy Spirit rain down
How we need to behold Your face

One touch of Your hand
I am healed and made whole

One touch of Your life
Brings glory to our souls!

Psalm 84:4-7 AMP … Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence; they will be singing Your praises all the day long. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

5 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whose strength is in You, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

6 Passing through the Valley of Weeping (Baca), they make it a place of springs; the early rain also fills [the pools] with blessings.

7 They go from strength to strength [increasing in victorious power]; each of them appears before God in Zion.

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. -2Co3:18 NKJV

Lord I give You my heart
I give You my soul
I live for You alone

Every breath that I take
Every moment I’m awake
Lord have Your way in me

And I will live for You.

Jesus I believe in You
Jesus I belong to You
You’re the reason that I live
You’re the reason that I sing
With all I am
I will worship You
With all I am!

1 Samuel 12:24Only fear the Lord and serve Him faithfully with all your heart; for consider how great are the things He has done for you.
