Broken Bread Poured Out Wine

1 Peter 1:18-19 AMP
18 You must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from [your] forefathers, not with corruptible things [such as] silver and gold, 19 But [you were purchased] with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah), like that of a [sacrificial] lamb without blemish or spot.

Psalm 36:7 … How precious[03368] is Your lovingkindness[02617]O God!

From NetBible Ps 36:7

  • precious[03368 = priceless, excellent, exquisite, valuable, prized, rare
  • lovingkindness[02617] = mercy, unfailing steadfast love, goodness, faithfulness

Therefore the children of men take refuge[put their trust] in the shadow of Your wings.

Psalm 63:3,7 … Because [experiencing] Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise You. … Because you are my help, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.

From NetBible Ps 63:3

  • lovingkindness[02617] = loyal love, goodness, kindness, faithfulness
    * The word “experiencing” is supplied in the translation for clarification. The psalmist does not speak here of divine loyal love in some abstract sense, but of loyal love revealed and experienced.
  • praise[07623] = to soothe, still, stroke, calm, glory triumph
*My lips brim praises like fountains glorifying You!

From NetBible Ps 63:7

  • sing for joy[07442] = greatly rejoice, celebrate, triumph, overcome

Broken Bread – No Greater Love
By Karen Holland

A body offered for all
The blood of the perfect Lamb
Broken bread, poured out wine
The Lamb, the Son of God
No greater love than this.

A life lain down
Broken bread, poured out wine.

A living sacrifice
The pearl of greatest price
A life lain down for friends
No greater love than this.

John 15:13Greater love hath no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Romans 12:1-2Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

    1 Corinthians 11:24-25 NASB
24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.”

    1 Corinthians 10:16 NASB
16 Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ?
