Seeking the LORD’s Face

1 Chronicles 16:11 AMP … Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!

What keeps us from seeking the Lord?

PRIDE is one big thing …

Psalm 10:4 AMP … The wicked one in the pride of his countenance will not seek, inquire for, and yearn for God; all his thoughts are that there is no God [so He never punishes].

From NetBible Ps 10:4

  • *pride of his countenance = according to the height of his nose: refers to an arrogant or snooty attitude; it likely pictures one with his nose turned upward toward the sky in pride.
  • * the wicked … thinks, “God won’t hold me accountable; he doesn’t care”.(NET)
  • *the wicked … in all his thoughts there is no room for God.(NIV)

The heart determines how much the Lord is sought. Is the Lord and His presence a vital need?

Psalm 27:8 AMP … You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word].

Jeremiah 29:13 AMP … You will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Faith is required to seek and please the Lord.

Hebrews 11:6 AMP … But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].
.

Praise You Lord Jesus, You reward those who diligently seek You. Stir our hearts to yearn for Your presence as a vital need. Thank You that as we seek You with our whole hearts, we will find You!
