Making Crooked Paths Straight!

How to make a crooked path straight!
ūüôā
Psalm 119 :103-105 AMP
103 How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
104 Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore I hate every false way.
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

I’ve looked at this scripture many times but today a few things jumped out that I never saw before.¬†¬†From the word study below it’s interesting to see the strong’s meaning of the word tasting – eating – for the purpose of discipline or correcting and training up.

  1. Without tasting, eating, digesting(applying God’s word), you will not know how sweet they are.¬†
  2. Without tasting(applying God’s word), you will not increase your understanding(discernment). You won’t recognize a false way(crooked path).
  3. Without tasting(applying God’s word), you will have no lamp or light to make your path straight.

Proverbs 3:5-7 AMP
5
Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.
6 In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths. 7 Be not wise in your own eyes; reverently fear and worship the Lord and turn [entirely] away from evil.

If you are judging/discerning by your own understanding without God’s word(or with a twisted¬†rationalized word), you are on a crooked path.

Isaiah 59:8-9 AMP
8 The way of peace they know not, and there is no justice or right{judgement} in their goings. They have made them into crooked paths; whoever goes in them does not know peace. 9 Therefore are justice and right{judgement} far from us, and righteousness and salvation do not overtake us. We expectantly wait for light, but [only] see darkness; for brightness, but we walk in obscurity and gloom.

Why is this so important? It’s a matter of life and death!

Proverbs 14:12 AMP
12 There is a way which seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death.

Word Study.

  • * “to know Him”¬†¬†includes mental awareness of who God is and the consequential submission to His lordship. To know him is to obey him. The sage is calling for a life of trust and obedience in which the disciple sees the¬†Lord¬†in every event and relies on him. To acknowledge the¬†Lord¬†in every event means trusting and obeying him for guidance in right conduct.
  • *¬†If one fears the¬†Lord¬†and turns away from evil, then he is depending on the¬†Lord¬†and not wise in his own eyes. There is a higher source of wisdom than human insight.

From NetBible Pro 14:12

    * a lamp in ancient times was a vessel with oil and a wick carried in the hand to light the path to walk on.

The picture here is that as we walk, our hand (which speaks of our works) needs to hold up (apply/do) the lamp (which is the Word)
==> then our eyes will see the path before us!
