Prove and Reprove

Prove what is pleasing to the Lord
Don’t be deceived
The fruit of light produces goodness, righteousness and truth.

Reprove – have no fellowship with works of darkness.

2 Corinthians 6:14 AMP
… Or how can light have fellowship with darkness?

The fruit of Light exposes(pierces) the darkness.

John 3:20-21 AMP
For every wrongdoer hates (loathes, detests) the Light, and will not come out into the Light but shrinks from it, lest his works (his deeds, his activities, his conduct) be exposed and reproved. 21  But he who practices truth [who does what is right] comes out into the Light; so that his works may be plainly shown to be what they are—wrought with God [divinely prompted, done with God’s help, in dependence upon Him].

Ephesians 5:6-11 KJV
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

NLT … Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins,  for the terrible anger of God comes upon all those who disobey him.

7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

From NetBible Eph 5:7

8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9 (For the fruit of the Spirit{light} is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

From NetBible Eph 5:10

  • proving[1381] = to test, examine, scrutinise (to see whether a thing is genuine or not)
  • acceptable[2101] = pleasing

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

From NetBible Eph 5:11

  • fellowship[4790] = share company, co-participate
  • reprove[1651] = convict, refute, correct, rebuke, expose

    1 Thessalonians 5:21-23 AMPC
21 But test and prove all things [until you can recognize] what is good; [to that] hold fast.
22 Abstain from evil [shrink from it and keep aloof from it] in whatever form or whatever kind it may be.
23 And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God]; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved sound and complete [and found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).
