Everlasting Peace Everlasting Arms

What have I to dread,
what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms?
I have blessed peace
with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms. -Elisha A. Hoffman

From ODB:

I can trust my loving Savior
When I fear the world’s alarms;
There’s no safer place of resting
Than His everlasting arms. —Hess

Whatever challenge or circumstance we face, there is everlasting security and peace in the everlasting arms of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Deuteronomy 33:26-27 AMP
There is none like the God of Jeshurun (Israel),
Who rides the heavens to your help,
And through the skies in His majestic glory.
27 The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, and underneath are the everlasting arms; …

From NetBible Dt 33:26

  • Jeshurun is a term of affection referring to “Israel”, or “the Lord’s people” derived from the Hebrew verb יָשַׁר (yashar, “be upright”)
  •  “(who) rides (on) the heavens” (cf. NIV, NRSV, NLT). This title depicts Israel’s God as sovereign over the elements of the storm (cf. Ps 68:33). The use of the phrase here may be polemical; Moses may be asserting that Israel’s God, not Baal (called the “rider of the clouds” in the Ugaritic myths), is the true divine king (cf. v. 5) who controls the elements of the storm, grants agricultural prosperity, and delivers his people from their enemies.

From NetBible Dt 33:27

  • eternal God[06924] = everlasting, from the beginning, ancient
  • refuge[04585] = dwelling place, habitation
  • everlasting[05769] = for ever, perpetual, eternal, eternity, unending
