Kiss the Son – Salvation belongs to the Lord

Psalm 2:12 AMPC … Kiss the Son [pay homage to Him in purity], lest He be angry and you perish in the way, for soon shall His wrath be kindled. O blessed (happy, fortunate, and to be envied) are all those who seek refuge and put their trust in Him!

Kiss the Son
Bow in worship at His feet
Pay homage to Him in purity.

Salvation, deliverance and victory
… belong to the Lord –
Ps 3:8
For He alone is King
He alone is your shield, your glory
… The lifter of your head –
Ps 3:3
King Jesus
King Eternal –
1 Tim 1:17
Forever He reigns! –
Rev 1:8

Blessed are those who put their trust in Him! –Ps 2:12

Psalm 3:3,5,8 AMPC … But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. …
… 5 I lay down and slept; I wakened again, for the Lord sustains me. …
… 8 Salvation{deliverance, protection, victory} belongs to the Lord; May Your blessing be upon Your people. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

Psalm 4:8 AMPC … In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You, Lord, alone make me dwell in safety and confident trust.

Note from Zondervan KJV Study Bible Psalm 3

  • Ps 3 & 4 are linked by references to glory(Ps 3:3,4:2) and to sleep at night(Ps 3:5,4:8)
  • My shield, my glory
    • shield: one’s king is his shield/protector(Gen 15:1; Ps 7:10, 47:9, 59:11, 84:9, 84:11, 89:18, 91:4)
    • glory: rejoicing in the Lord as one’s royal provider and protector(Kiss the Son – Ps 2:12)
    • Ps 4:2 rebukes those who “glory”, who seek protection in other gods …  O you sons of men, how long will you turn my honor and glory into shame? How long will you love vanity and futility and seek after lies{false gods}? Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
    • lifter of my head: one’s king(the Lord) gives victory, deliverance
  • even in sleep when one’s own watchfulness is surrendered, the Lord preserves and watches over those who submit to His rule
    • Ps 4:8 speaks of the peace and security of knowing the Lord’s protection and care
    • These references in Ps 3 & 4 to waking(morning) and sleeping(evening) suggest God’s faithful care sustains the godly day and night whatever the need or circumstance. =>Ps 3:8 The Lord’s “blessing” includes deliverance/protection, vindication, and sustained life ( Ps 21:3, 6; Ps 24:5).
