Psalm 20:7 AMPC … Some trust in and boast of chariots and some of horses, but we will trust in and boast of the name of the Lord our God.

Proverbs 3:5-8 NASB … Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and turn away from evil. 8 It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones.

From NetBible Pro 3:5

  • Trust = to physically lean upon something for support, help, protection
  • Own understanding =  It is dangerous for a person to rely upon mere human wisdom (Prov 14:12; 16:25)

From NetBible Pro 3:6

  • Acknowledge = To know Him is to obey Him. This is a call for total commitment in trust for obedience in all things.

From NetBible Pro 3:7

  • Fear the Lord = If one fears the Lord and turns away from evil, then he is depending on the Lord and not wise in his own eyes. There is a higher source of wisdom than human insight.

From NetBible Pro 3:8

  • Healing & refreshment = If a person trusts in the Lord and fears him, he will be blessed
  • *Just as a drink of water would bring physical refreshment to one’s body, trusting in God and turning away from evil will bring emotional refreshment to one’s soul.
