Your Best Life Now?

I heard a very good sermon sunday posing this question: “Can Christians live their best life now?”

John 12:24-26Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. 25 He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal. 26 If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.

A more important question: “Is your best life now(in this world) or as a Christian is it in the world to come?”

Loving your life now means living with this life only in view

Colossians 3:1-3Put On the New Self
1 Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.

Loving your life in this world means living your life as the world lives => seeking health, wealth, prosperity

Matthew 6:19-21“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

James 4:4 Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Matthew 6:24No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.

Loving your life in this world as the world does
=> means losing it!

Eternal life for death
What beauty for ashes
What an honor from the Father

“In his book, ” Your Best Life Now,” prosperity teacher Joel Osteen says that the key to a more rewarding life, a better home, a stronger marriage, and a better job is found in a “simple yet profound process to change the way you think about your life and help you accomplish what is truly important.” How different that is from the biblical truth that this life now is nothing compared to the life to come . . The message of the prosperity gospel is focused around the “treasures” or good things we want and can have now, while Jesus said, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:19–21) . . Jesus did not come to give us health, wealth and happiness now . . He came to save us from our sins so that we can have an eternity of bliss with Him . . Following Christ is not a ticket to all the material things men desire in this life but a ticket to eternal life . . Our desire should not be to have our best life now but to have the attitude of the apostle Paul, who had learned to be content “in whatever state I am” (Philippians 4:11).”

From Amazon: Your Best Life Now

In YOUR BEST LIFE NOW Osteen says, “I am what I am today because of what I believed about myself yesterday. And I will be tomorrow what I’m believing about myself right now. God sees us as more than conquerors, able to fulfill our destiny. We need to see ourselves through the eyes of our Creator.” He says that our self-image should mirror exactly what God says about us, not what we feel or think. And he encourages readers to be people of faith, for if you can see the invisible, God will do the impossible.

James 1:23-25For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

Be careful which mirror you are looking at
=> your eternal life depends on it!!

This was especially interesting to me because just a few weeks before, a well intentioned preacher tried to apply Philippians 1:18 to Joel Osteen to “leave him alone” {meaning don’t test or expose his teaching}. Is this what Paul in Philippians 1:18 is really saying??

Philippians 1:15-18 … Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will; 16 the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; 17 the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth([225]sincerity=free from deceit), Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice.

Isn’t Paul really saying it’s not about motives or good intentions, it’s about preaching the true Christ(gospel)? Doesn’t this imply that Paul would pick a person who had false motives but preached the true gospel over a well intentioned person preaching a false gospel?(Don’t judge motives-judge teaching)

    Remember Paul also said this:
    Galatians 1:6-10 NASB
    Perversion of the Gospel
6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; 7 which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed[331](condemned to hell)!

10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.

Figures – yet another circle 😦

    A disturbing pattern!!!!

The circle maker(mega church) & witchcraft:

Nick Hall “together” with SBC & The symbol for Gnostic Unity:

Steve Furtick(SBC mega church) and the unholy trinity:

Steve Furtick & Code Orange Revival:

Elevation church Code Orange Dance – Looks like unchristian Rihanna:

Notice the same unchristian symbol in Rhianna’s light show and the Elevation logo …

Why does the above look like the world?

James 4:4 … Do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

    Ephesians 5:6 … Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers(partners) with them; 8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light 9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), — 10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness(have no fellowship), but instead even expose them;
