Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Psalm 33:2 NLT … Let Your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in You alone.

Isaiah 61:1-4 NKJV … “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,
And the day of vengeance of our God;
To comfort all who mourn,
3 To console those who mourn in Zion,
To give them beauty for ashes,
The oil of joy for mourning,
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness;
That they may be called trees of righteousness,
The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”
4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins,
They shall raise up the former desolations,
And they shall repair the ruined cities,
The desolations of many generations.

Above All

March 23, 2018

John 3:31-36He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. 32 What He has seen and heard, of that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony. 33 He who has received His testimony has set his seal to this, that God is true. 34 For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God; for He gives the Spirit without measure. 35 The Father loves the Son and has given all things into His hand. 36 He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.

In the beginning was the Word
And the Word was with God
And the Word was GodJn 1:1
The Word became flesh
Full of Grace and Truth –Jn 1:14
Of His “fullness” we have all received.
Grace upon graceJn 1:16
In Christ all the fullness of the Deity
Lives in bodily form. –Col 2:9
He who comes from above[heaven]
Is above allJn 3:31
Jesus speaks the words of God
God’s Spirit is upon Him without measure/limitJn 3:34
The Father loves the Son
And has given all things into His hand –Jn 3:35
Jesus is the supreme ruler of all things.Col 1:15-20
He who believes in the Son has eternal life … –Jn 3:36
quotes from:

  • in John 3:31–36. Jesus is held up before us as coming from God, and full of God, and speaking and ruling as God, so that eternity divides between those who seal God as true in Jesus and those who seal God as a liar. The one has eternal life, and the other remains under the wrath of God.
  • So the second thing John does in this text is point us to the fact that Jesus, the Son of God, is infinitely unlike us not only in that he is from God, and we are from the earth, but also that he is full of God. He has the Spirit without measure. The Father has given him the Spirit infinitely from all eternity—that is, he has loved him eternally with all that he is. And all that he is in this love is the person of the Holy Spirit.
  • So I lift him up before you one more time, with the prayer that you will see his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth, and from his glory will receive grace upon grace, and believe in him as from God, and full of God, and speaking and ruling as God and coming into the world to die for sinners, and believing in him have eternal life.

The test:
1 John 4:1-Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. 2 By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God

  • * the word made flesh => fully God – fully man

3 but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. 4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We are from God, and whoever knows God listens to us; but whoever is not from God does not listen to us. This is how we recognise the Spirit of truth and the spirit of falsehood{error/deceit}.

  • * You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God. –Mt 22:29*

Quicken me

Quicken me, O LORD, according to Your Word –Ps 119:107
Teach me, Show me Your way, that I may know You Ex 33:13
That I may be wise and learn what is pleasing to You. Eph 5:10

Ephesians 5:6-10,15-16 NASB … Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them; 8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light 9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. … 15 Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, 16 making the most of your time, because the days are evil.

No Weapon Succeeds!

He has made My mouth like a sharp sword, In the shadow of His hand He has concealed Me; And He has also made Me a select arrow, He has hidden Me in His quiver.

Sometimes faith makes you look stupid – until it starts to rain!

Hebrews 12:1-3 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Shine bright the light of Christ!
A city on a hill cannot be hidden. –Mt 5:14

Hebrews 12:25-29 AMP … See to it that you do not refuse [to listen to] Him who is speaking [to you now]. For if those [sons of Israel] did not escape when they refused [to listen to] him who warned them on earth [revealing God’s will], how much less will we escape if we turn our backs on Him who warns from heaven? 26 His voice shook the earth [at Mount Sinai] then, but now He has given a promise, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the [starry] heaven.” 27 Now this [expression], “Yet once more,” indicates the removal and final transformation of all those things which can be shaken—that is, of that which has been created—so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, and offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is [indeed] a consuming fire.

Mark 13:31 AMP … Heaven and earth [as now known] will pass away, but My[Jesus] words will not pass away!

Jesus Fully God – Fully Man

March 13, 2018

Have you ever wondered how Jesus could say that He did not know the day or hour of His return (Mt 24:36;Mk 13:32) even though He is omniscient (Jn 21:17)?

If Jesus is God, why didn’t He know the day of His return? This dilemma is solved by our understanding that Christ is one Person with two natures. The answer is that in regards to His human nature, Jesus does not have all knowledge. Thus, in His human nature He really did not know the day or hour of His return. But in His divine nature, He does have all knowledge and thus in His divine nature He did know when He would return.

Main Truths of the Incarnation

  1. Jesus has two natures — He is God and man.
  2. Each nature is full and complete — He is fully God and fully man.
  3. Each nature remains distinct.
  4. Christ is only one Person.
  5. Things that are true of only one nature are nonetheless true of the Person of Christ.

Jesus is fully God. He did not give up any of His divine attributes at the incarnation. He remained in full possession of all of them. For if He were to ever give up any of His divine attributes, He would cease being God(Col 2:9).

Jesus fully human. He has a human body (Lk 24:39), a human mind (Lk 2:52), and a human soul (Mt 26:38). Jesus does not just look like a man. He does not just have some aspects of what is essential for true humanity but not others. Rather, He possess full humanity.
