His Love Deeper

November 30, 2018

His love deeper than any pain or burden – helps us stand no matter what!

Thy Will{Love Deeper than Pain}
Karen Holland … 9-30-06

A heart touched, overcome with pain
Kneels in a garden
Weeping in darkness
Alone this heart prays
In anguish the heart yields.  –Mt 26:42

Kneeling before the Lord, I know
No matter how deep the pain
How heavy the burden to bear
He will not let me break
He will not let me fall
He is my shield

He lifts my head –Ps 3:3
Lifted up by His hand
Secure in this knowledge I stand
No matter how deep the pain
No matter how dark the night

I am never alone
His love is deeper than any pain

For He yielded His heart
Accepted the cup
And drank.

Snake Bite??

November 23, 2018

What is the prevention of snake bites?

Jeremiah 8:8-9,10-11 AMP
8 “How can you say, ‘We are wise,
And the law of the Lord is with us [and we are learned in its language and teachings]’?
Behold, [the truth is that] the lying pen of the scribes
Has made the law into a lie [a mere code of ceremonial observances].
9 “The wise men are shamed,
They are dismayed and caught.
Behold, they have [manipulated and] rejected the [truth in the] word of the Lord,
And what kind of wisdom and insight do they have? ….

10 … even my prophets and priests are like that.
They are all frauds.
11 They offer superficial treatments
for my people’s mortal wound.
They give assurances of peace
when there is no peace.

17 “For behold, I am sending serpents among you,
Vipers which cannot be charmed,
And they will bite you,” says the Lord.

What is the cure for snake bites?

Jeremiah 8:22 AMP
22 Is there no balm in Gilead?
Is there no physician there?
Why then has not the [spiritual] health of the daughter of my people been restored?

Genesis 3:1 AMP
1 Now the serpent was more crafty (subtle, skilled in deceit) than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And the serpent (Satan) said to the woman, “Can it really be that God has said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?”

What brings “healing” to the mortal wound?

Proverbs 4:20-23 NLT
My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words. Don’t lose sight of them. Let them penetrate deep into your heart, for they bring life to those who find them, and healing[04832] to their whole body. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

From NetBible Prov 4:22

  • healing[04832] = medicine, cure(physician), sound mind, deliverance

Healing in His hands

November 19, 2018

1Peter 2:24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness––by whose stripes you were healed.

From Netbible 1Pe 2:24

  • cured[2390] = healed, made whole, free from error or sin to bring salvation
  • * quote from Isaiah 53:5
  • * points to Matthew 8:8 … The centurion answered and said, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed[2390].

From NetBible Mt 8:16-17
When evening came, they brought to Him many who were under the power of demons, and He drove out the spirits with a word and restored to health[2323]all who were sick[2560]. 17 And thus He fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah, He Himself took [in order to carry away] our weaknesses and infirmities[769] and bore away our diseases[3554].

  • restored to health[2323] = healed, cured, relieved disease
  • sick[2560] = (physically or morally) ill, diseased
  • infirmities[769] = weakness, feebleness (of mind or body)
  • diseases[3554] = sickness, infirmity, illness

Interesting where 1Peter 2:24 points. Salvation is not the only “healing” available because of the cross.

Isaiah 53:4-5 AMP
Surely He has borne our griefs[02483] (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains[04341] [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy]. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed[07495] and made whole.

From NetBible Isa 53:4-5

  • griefs[02483] = sickness, disease, illness
  • pain[04341] = physical/mental suffering/wounds, sorrow
  • healed[07495] = to mend, repair, make whole, to cure(physician/healer)

Washed Eyes

Psalm 36:7-9 AMP
7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
The children of men take refuge in the shadow of Your wings.
8 They drink their fill of the abundance of Your house;
And You allow them to drink from the river of Your delights.
9 For with You is the fountain of life [the fountain of life-giving water];
In Your light we see light.

* NLT … 9 For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.
* MSG … 9 You’re a fountain of cascading light, and you open our eyes to light.
Ephesians 5:26 AMP
26 so that He[Jesus] might sanctify the church, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word [of God] …
John 17:17 AMP
17 [Jesus prays]Sanctify them in the truth [set them apart for Your purposes, make them holy]; Your word is truth.
John 9:11 AMP
11 He replied, “The Man called Jesus made mud and smeared it on my eyes and told me, ‘Go to Siloam and wash.’ So I went and washed, and I received my sight!”

Word Study
From John 9:7,11 commentary

  • The pool of Siloam, supplied from the Virgin’s fountain (Isaiah 8:6), lay at the south-east corner of Jerusalem in the Kidron Valley. On the opposite side of the valley lies a village Silwan representing the old name. The name is here interpreted as meaning “Sent”.
  • Waters of Shiloh also represent the Messiah, the “Sent”.(Genesis 49:10)
“The sceptre shall not depart from Judah – until Shiloh (that is, the Sent of God: the Messiah) come,”
  • The pool of Siloam was bound up with all the religious feelings of the Feast of Tabernacles. A solemn procession went each morning to it, and carried water from it to the Temple. That water had already led to the teaching of the gift of the Spirit to every man who should receive the Messiah (John 7:37), uttered, perhaps, on this very day (John 9:1). There would be attached, then, to the pool of Siloam a sacred significance that would be in itself a help to faith.

From NetBible John 9:1

  • Since there is no break with chap. 8, Jesus is presumably still in Jerusalem, and presumably not still in the temple area. The events of chap. 9 fall somewhere between the feast of Tabernacles (John 7:2) and the feast of the Dedication (John 10:22). … the incident recorded in chap. 9 (along with the ensuing debates with the Pharisees) serves as a real-life illustration of the claim Jesus made in 8:12, I am the light of the world.
  • One other thing which should be pointed out about the miracle recorded in chap. 9 is its messianic significance. In the OT it is God himself who is associated with the giving of sight to the blind (Ex 4:11; Ps 146:8). In a number of passages in (Isa 29:18, 35:5, 42:7) it is considered to be a messianic activity.

Lift Your Head!

November 13, 2018

It ain’t over yet! Lift your head – the Lord ain’t finished yet!
Only the Lord can lift your head when you’ve got nothing left.

Psalm 3:3-4 But You, O LORD, are a shield about me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head. I cried out to the LORD with my voice, and He answered me from His holy mountain. Selah.
Hold on – He’ll get you thru this!!!!!
Jesus my Rock
Gives strength to stand
And a new song to sing again!

Iron Sharpens

November 9, 2018

When iron sharpens iron=> the sparks fly!
Don’t go into battle with a dull sword.
Iron sharpens iron with God’s Holy Spirit empowered Word!

Ecclesiastes 10:10If the ax is dull, and one does not sharpen the edge; Then one must use more strength. But wisdom brings success(is profitable to direct).
Hebrews 4:12 AMP … For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.

Answer to Samson’s Riddle Judge 14:18:
“What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion?”

The Lord’s words are sweeter than honey!
How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! -Ps 119:103

The Spirit of the LORD’s empowerment is stronger than any lion
And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him(Samson), and he tore the lion apart as one would have torn apart a young goat, though he had nothing in his hand. But he did not tell his father or his mother what he had done. -Jdg 14:6

Shelter Me

November 7, 2018

The name of the Lord is a strong tower
Run to Him with whole-hearted and unwavering trust in
His protection
Pr 18:10
Abide in the covering of His wings Ps 61:4
His faithfulness/truth a shield and protective wall!Ps 91:4

Psalm 91:4 NLT … He will shield you with his wings. He will shelter you with his feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

Word Study
From NetBible Pr 18:10
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the [consistently] righteous man [upright and in right standing with God] runs into it and is safe, high [above evil] and strong.

  • * The “name of the Lord” is a metonymy of subject. The “name” here signifies not the personal name “Yahweh,” for that would be redundant in the expression “the name of Yahweh,” but the attributes of the Lord (cf. Exod 34:5-7) – here his power to protect.
  • “a tower of strength,” with “strength” regarded as attributive by most English versions. The metaphor “strong tower” indicates that God is a secure refuge.
  • * The metaphor of “running” to the Lord refers to a whole-hearted and unwavering trust in God’s protection (e.g., Isa 40:31).
  • * “is high” or “is inaccessible.” This military-type expression stresses the effect of the trust – security, being out of danger (see HALOT 1305 s.v. שׂגב). Other scriptures will supply the ways that God actually protects people who trust him.

From NetBible Ps 61:3
For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy.

  • shelter[04268] = refuge, from rain or storm/danger, from falsehood

From NetBible Ps 61:4
I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the cover of Your wings. Selah

  • cover[05643] = hiding place, shelter, secret place

Freedom and Forgiveness

November 3, 2018

Romans 12:17-21 NASB … Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. 19 Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
