Staying Awake in Prayer

Matthew 26:40-41Then He{Jesus} came to the disciples and found them asleep, and said to Peter, “What? Could you not watch with Me one hour? 41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
.
From the below word study the word for watch means to keep awake, alert, vigilant, to arouse or cause to rise. It’s also the same word in Colossians 4:2!
.
=> To keep watchful, devoted-alert in prayer, be thankful with grateful praise!Colossians 4:2
.
What I didn’t notice before was how the word rise is related to this process. Look at Luke 22:46 the parallel verse to Matthew 26:41!
.
Luke 22:46Then He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Rise[450] and pray, lest you enter into temptation.”
.
Mark 5:41-42Then, gently taking the child by the hand, He{Jesus} said to her, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl{lamb-of my Tallit}, I say to you, get up{arise[1453]}.”
42 Immediately the girl arose[450] and walked, for she was twelve years of age . And they were overcome with great amazement.

.

.
=> Little lamb of my Tallit{prayer shawl} do not sleep = ARISE! Watch and Pray. Keep alert with thanksgiving and grateful praise.
