Christ’s Strength and Power Pitches a Tent!

December 17, 2019

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
9 But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
10 So for the sake of Christ, I am well pleased and take pleasure in infirmities, insults, hardships, persecutions, perplexities and distresses; for when I am weak [in human strength], then am I [truly] strong (able, powerful in divine strength).

From NetBible 2Cor 12:9
And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me.

  • rest/dwell[1981] = to fix a tent or habitation on
    – to take possession of and live in the houses of the citizens
    – of the power of Christ descending upon one, working within him and giving him help
From [4637] = to fix one’s tabernacle, have one’s tabernacle, abide (or live) in – to dwell: to tent or encamp, i.e. (figuratively) to occupy (as a mansion) or (specially), to reside (as God did in the Tabernacle of old, a symbol of protection and communion)

=>The strength and power of Christ pitches a tent over and rests/dwells upon the one who is utterly dependent upon Him!

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord
Bow down in His presence
Admit your dependence on Him –James 4:10
Seek His face/presence as your “One Thing” –Psalms 27:4
=>He will lift you up in due time –1Peter 5:6
=>Set you high upon a rock
=>Covered/hidden in the secret place of His tent –Psalms 27:5
=>Where Christ’s strength and power dwell. –2Cor 12:9
Now offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle
In the shadow of His wings –Psalms 27:6,63:7
Let your heart say “Your face, LORD, I will seek!” –Psalms 27:8

    – to celebrate with praise, to beautify, adorn
    – dwell, abide, rest(as at home)

O Lord, I love the habitation of Your house
And the place where Your glory dwells. …
… Let me dwell in Your tent forever;
Let me take refuge{trust} in the shelter of Your wings. Selah. …
… For You[Lord] have been my help, and in the shadow of Your wings [where I am always protected] I sing for joy!

Hope = A Work of Faith & Labor of Love

November 8, 2019

1Thessalonians 1:2-3We always thank God for all of you, mentioning you in our prayers. 3 We continually remember before{in the sight of} our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 15:4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance/perseverance/patience and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
1Corinthians 13:13There are three things that will endure{abide[3306]}––faith, hope, and love––and the greatest of these is love.
What do you do when the “odds” seem stacked against you? When you are tempted to give up hope in the face of a seemingly impossible situation?

  • Come in prayer before the sight of our God and Father
  • Ask the Lord to encourage you through the Holy Spirit and Scripture
  • Remember the three things that endure
    • Faith, Love and Hope in our Lord Jesus Christ
=>He is able to do what no other can, no matter how impossible it looks!

=> Enduring patient Hope is a work of Faith and labor of Love in the Lord Jesus Christ!

Nothing is ever too hard or impossible WITH God. –Matthew 17:20
The power of His love makes all things possible!
He is able to do far more than all we can ask
Or imagine! –Ephesians 3:14-21
Surrender all to the Lord – He cares for you. –1Peter 5:7
Trust Him!

1Peter 5:5-7 NET … God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. 6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may lift you up in due time. 7 Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
Ephesians 3:19-21
New Living Translation (NLT)
19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Romans 15:5-6 New Living Translation (NLT)
5 May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus. 6 Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Lift Your Heart in Praise

Psalm 42:11 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
11 Why are you cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and be disquieted within me? Hope in God and wait expectantly for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, Who is the help of my countenance, and my God.

From ODB – Look Up
“Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God” (Ps 42:11). That’s good advice for anyone who is facing discouragement.
Lift up your eyes, discouraged one,
The Lord your help will be;
New strength will come from Him who said,
“For rest, come unto Me.” —Anon.
When you can’t find a way out, look up!

The best way to “Look Up!” is to “Lift Your Heart in Praise!”

#ScripturePrayer Lord-please give me a heart of praise
That I may lift my voice & adore Your name

Faith “Sees” with an Understanding Heart

June 20, 2019

Hebrews 11:1 Amplified Bible (AMP)
11 Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses].
Hebrews 11:1 NKJV … Now faith is the *substance[5287] of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

  • substance[5287] = a setting or placing under, firm foundation, confidence, firm trust, assurance
*from a compound of [5259] = place under
and [2476] = make to stand, firm, fixed, established on sound foundation
  •  Hebrews 1:3
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature{substance[5287]}, and upholds all things by the word of His power. …
  •  Hebrews 3:14
For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance{substance[5287]} firm until the end …

    • partakers[3353] = partners, companions, sharing in work
    • hold fast[2722] = keep secure, keep firm possession of{from going away}, keep (in memory)

Look how faith in Jesus Christ affects what our “spiritual eyes” see!
Interesting, looking at Matthew 13 – we see the opposite of faith = hearts that do not “see”. The key seems to be how receptive your heart is to receiving, understanding and applying God’s word. It is also a warning to not devalue God’s word …
Matthew 13:10-16 Amplified Bible (AMP)
10 Then the disciples came to Him and asked, “Why do You speak to the crowds in parables?” 11 Jesus replied to them, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been granted. 12 For whoever has [spiritual wisdom because he is receptive to God’s word], to him more will be given, and he will be richly and abundantly supplied; but whoever does not have [spiritual wisdom because he has devalued God’s word], even what he has will be taken away from him. 13 This is the reason I speak to the crowds in parables: because while [having the power of] seeing they do not see, and while [having the power of] hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand and grasp [spiritual things]. 14 In them the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled, which says,

‘You will hear and keep on hearing, but never understand;
And you will look and keep on looking, but never comprehend;
15 For this nation’s heart has grown hard,
And with their ears they hardly hear,
And they have [tightly] closed their eyes,
Otherwise they would see with their eyes,
And hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart, and turn [to Me]
And I would heal them [spiritually].’
16 But blessed [spiritually aware, and favored by God] are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear.
See how all this is linked with walking in obedience.
1 John 2:5-6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
5 But whoever habitually keeps His word and obeys His precepts [and treasures His message in its entirety], in him the love of God has truly been perfected [it is completed and has reached maturity]. By this we know [for certain] that we are in Him: 6 whoever says he lives in Christ [that is, whoever says he has accepted Him as God and Savior] ought [as a moral obligation] to walk and conduct himself just as He walked and conducted Himself.
2 Corinthians 5:7 Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 for we walk by faith, not by sight [living our lives in a manner consistent with our confident belief in God’s promises]—
Matthew 13:23 Amplified Bible (AMP)
23 And the one on whom seed was sown on the good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands and grasps it; he indeed bears fruit and yields, some a hundred times [as much as was sown], some sixty [times as much], and some thirty.”

Ephesians 1:17-19 Amplified Bible (AMP)
17 [I always pray] that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may grant you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation [that gives you a deep and personal and intimate insight] into the true knowledge of Him [for we know the Father through the Son]. 18 And [I pray] that the eyes of your heart [the very center and core of your being] may be enlightened [flooded with light by the Holy Spirit], so that you will know and cherish the hope [the divine guarantee, the confident expectation] to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints (God’s people), 19 and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength.

The Mulberry Tree

May 8, 2019

Mulberry Tree
In looking at the mustard seed – I stumbled on this — it is convicting. It’s about unforgiveness, bitterness and hurt. This is what was said in response to how many times we are to forgive:
Luke 17:5-6 Amplified Bible (AMP)
5 The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith [our ability to confidently trust in God and in His power].” 6 And the Lord said, “If you have [confident, abiding] faith in God [even as small] as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree [which has very strong roots], ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea’; and [if the request was in agreement with the will of God] it would have obeyed you.
Notice the speaking to the mulberry tree(unforgiveness-bitterness-hurt) —

Steps to remove unforgiveness-bitterness-hurt=the mulberry tree
1. Purpose in your heart ahead of time that you will forgive when this “tree” appears.
2. When it happens you could say something like this in your heart – Lord help me to be free of these feelings (unforgiveness-bitterness-hurt) – I know with your help – I can forgive.
3. Help me to speak gently to the one causing these feelings so our relationship can be restored in you.{this may take awhile}
4. I speak now in Jesus name tree(unforgivrness-bitterness-hurt) be removed form my heart. If the “tree” appears again at a later time – again tell it to be removed in Jesus name.
This process may not have immediate results — it may take a while for emotions to get “in line”.
Press on – don’t give up! Jesus does heal broken hearts!

Psalm 147:3 AMP … He heals the broken hearted and binds up their wounds [curing their pains and their sorrows].

From NetBible Ps 147:3

  • broken[07665] = shattered in pieces
  • bind[02280] = bandage, encourage, doctor, heal
  • wounds[06094] = pain, hurt, injury, sorrow, troubles

Unforgiveness-Bitterness-Hurt=the mulberry tree
=>Purpose in your heart ahead of time that you will forgive when this “tree” appears. #PraiseHim Thank You Lord-I know with Your help-I can speak to this “tree” & forgive!

Stones of Remembrance

February 24, 2019

When Joshua led God’s people to the Jordan River(Joshua 3:15–17); God parted the waters and God’s people walked through on dry land. In remembrance of this miracle twelve stones were taken from the middle of the riverbed and stacked on the other side (Joshua 4:3, 6–7). Something similar had happened years before in an escape from Egypt (Exodus 14:21-31).
These “stones of remembrance” are a good reminder of God’s past faithfulness. They also remind us to trust God in the present and with the future!
What “stones of remembrance” can you remind yourself of today?

Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness to me over the years! Help me to trust You in the present and with the future. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

What “stones of remembrance” can you remind yourself of today? The Lord is faithful – trust Him with your present and future!

Joshua 4:3-7 New King James Version (NKJV)
3 and command them, saying, ‘Take for yourselves twelve stones from here, out of the midst of the Jordan, from the place where the priests’ feet stood firm. You shall carry them over with you and leave them in the lodging place where you lodge tonight.’ ”

4 Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had appointed from the children of Israel, one man from every tribe; 5 and Joshua said to them: “Cross over before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of the Jordan, and each one of you take up a stone on his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, 6 that this may be a sign among you when your children ask in time to come, saying, ‘What do these stones mean to you?’ 7 Then you shall answer them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it crossed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. And these stones shall be for a memorial to the children of Israel forever.”

Marvelous Sight{prayer}

Word Study
Song 4:6Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense.

  • The hill of frankincense is Calvary, where, “through the eternal Spirit He offered Himself”{a fragrant offering –Eph 5:2}; the mountain of myrrh is His embalmment & burial in the garden(Jn 19:39-42) till the resurrection “daybreak.” (*from Jameison-Fausset-Brown)a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil{usually made from myrrh}, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table . -Mt 26:7Many commentaries think the mountain of myrrh – Heb mor, points to Mt Moriah- the place of myrrh(referring to the spices burnt as incense) where the temple was built(2 Chr 3:1) and where Abraham offered up his son Isaac, foreshadowing Christ’s sacrifice. (Matthew Henry, Wikipedia) Abraham called this place ‘The LORD Will Provide’. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided{seen}” (Gen 22:2,14).

Genesis 22:14And Abraham called the name of the place, The–LORD–Will–Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of The LORD it shall be provided.”

  • From NetBible Gen 22:14
    The–LORD–Will–Provide[03070] = Jehovah-jireh = “Jehovah sees”
*from [03068] and [07200]; Jehovah will see (to it) => the Lord sees and provides for the necessities of His servants
    * a symbolical name for Mount Moriah => Here Solomon’s temple was built, on the spot that had been the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite (2 Sam. 24:24, 252 Chr. 3:1
=>”Mount Moriah” of the Chronicles is identical with the “mountain” in “the land of Moriah” of Genesis, and that the spot on which Jehovah appeared to David, and on which the temple was built, was the very spot of the sacrifice of Isaac.
=> now covered by “Dome of the Rock”
  • provided[07200] = seen, looked at, perceived, have vision

Patience and Thankfulness

January 7, 2019

1Thessalonians 5:18Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in{who belong to} Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:12So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience …

From NetBible Col 3:12

  • patience[3115] = endurance, constancy, steadfastness, perseverance, longsuffering, slowness in avenging wrongs

Thank You Lord, I know I can endure any situation because You are working on my behalf. I’m safe in Your hands. Help me to remember to give thanks in both good and bad circumstances!
