Song 4:6Until the day breaks and the shadows flee away, I will go my way to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense.

  • The hill of frankincense is Calvary, where, “through the eternal Spirit He offered Himself”{a fragrant offering –Eph 5:2}; the mountain of myrrh is His embalmment & burial in the garden(Jn 19:39-42) till the resurrection “daybreak.” (*from Jameison-Fausset-Brown)a woman came to Him having an alabaster flask of very costly fragrant oil{usually made from myrrh}, and she poured it on His head as He sat at the table . -Mt 26:7Many commentaries think the mountain of myrrh – Heb mor, points to Mt Moriah- the place of myrrh(referring to the spices burnt as incense) where the temple was built(2 Chr 3:1) and where Abraham offered up his son Isaac, foreshadowing Christ’s sacrifice. (Matthew Henry, Wikipedia) Abraham called this place ‘The LORD Will Provide’. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided{seen}” (Gen 22:2,14).

Genesis 22:14And Abraham called the name of the place, The–LORD–Will–Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of The LORD it shall be provided.”

  • From NetBible Gen 22:14
    The–LORD–Will–Provide[03070] = Jehovah-jireh = “Jehovah sees”
*from [03068] and [07200]; Jehovah will see (to it) => the Lord sees and provides for the necessities of His servants
    * a symbolical name for Mount Moriah => Here Solomon’s temple was built, on the spot that had been the threshing-floor of Ornan the Jebusite (2 Sam. 24:24, 252 Chr. 3:1
=>”Mount Moriah” of the Chronicles is identical with the “mountain” in “the land of Moriah” of Genesis, and that the spot on which Jehovah appeared to David, and on which the temple was built, was the very spot of the sacrifice of Isaac.
=> now covered by “Dome of the Rock”
  • provided[07200] = seen, looked at, perceived, have vision

Keep Alert and Fresh

December 6, 2018

1 Peter 4:7-8 AMP …The end and culmination of all things is near. Therefore, be sound-minded and self-controlled for the purpose of prayer [staying balanced and focused on the things of God so that your communication will be clear, reasonable, specific and pleasing to Him.] 8 Above all, have fervent and unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins [it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others].
Colossians 4:2 AMP … Be persistent and devoted to prayer, being alert and focused in your prayer life with an attitude of thanksgiving.

=> an attitude of thanksgiving keeps you alert, fresh and focused in prayer!

Hebrews 10:23-25 AMP … Let us seize and hold tightly the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is reliable and trustworthy and faithful [to His word]; 24 and let us consider [thoughtfully] how we may encourage one another to love and to do good deeds, 25 not forsaking our meeting together [as believers for worship and instruction], as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more [faithfully] as you see the day [of Christ’s return] approaching.

Take My Hand

August 8, 2018

Psalm 139:11-12,10 NASB … If I say,
“Surely the darkness will overwhelm/crush[07779] me,
And the light around me will be night,”
12 Even the darkness is not dark to You,
And the night is as bright as the day.
Darkness and light are alike to You. …
… 10 Even there Your hand will lead me,
And Your right hand will lay hold of me.

Just when you think darkness is overwhelming

The Lord reaches out and says
“Take My hand
Trust Me

Let Me show you the Way  –Is 48:17
Be still and know I am God –Ps 46:10
I will help you!”Is 41:10

As He teaches you His word and ways …
… He will smile!

Lord open our eyes to truly see
Wonderful things in Your law. –Ps 119:18

Word Study
Psalm 119:171 Let my lips burst forth with {overflow, utter} praise, for You have taught me Your principles.

From NetBible Ps 119:171

  • utter[05042] = to flow, pour out, pour, gush forth, spring, bubble up, ferment
  • principles[02706] = statute, ordinance, decree, prescribed limit, boundary

Psalm 119:135 … Make Your face shine{smile} upon Your servant, and teach me Your statutes{principles}.

From NetBible Ps 119:135

  • shine[0215] = to light, be illuminated, lighten (of the eyes, his law)
    Enlighten[0215] my eyes –Ps 13:3
The LORD make His face shine[0215] on you –Num 6:25
The unfolding of your words gives light[0215] –Ps 119:130
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening[0215] the eyes –Ps 19:8
  • principles[02706] = statute, ordinance, decree, prescribed limit, boundary

Psalm 63:1-5
A Psalm of David when he was in the wilderness of Judah.

1 O God, You are my God, earnestly I seek You; my soul thirsts for You, my body longs for You, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
2 I have seen You in the sanctuary and beheld Your power and Your glory.

MSG … So here I am in the place of worship, eyes open, drinking in your strength and glory.

3 Because experiencing Your lovingkindness is better than life, My lips will praise{glorify} You.

MSG … In Your generous love I am really living at last! My lips brim praises like fountains.

4 So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.

MSG … I bless You every time I take a breath; My arms wave like banners of praise to You.

5 My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness{the richest of foods}, And my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.

My Heart Will Sing!

June 30, 2018

My heart will sing – no other name
Jesus, Jesus …

Sing no other name – only JESUS
With an undivided heart
=> pure JOY
=> Filled with the Spirit

Psalm 86:11-12Teach me Your way, O LORD, and I will walk in Your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name. 12 I will praise you, O Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify Your name forever.
Ephesians 5:18-20be filled with the Spirit. 19 Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Word Study
From NetBible Ps 30:11

  • girded me with gladness = clothed me with joy
  • clothed-‘azar[0247] = girded(metaphorical of strength), encompassed, equipped
  • joy-simchah[08057] = joy, mirth, gladness, joy (of God)
*The root denotes being glad or joyful with the whole disposition, the whole heart [08056] [08055]

From NetBible Hos 6:3 & Ps 86:11

  • Psalm 86:11 Teach[03384] me Your way, O LORD
Hosea 6:3 … So let us know{acknowledge}, let us press on to know{acknowledge} the LORD. His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering[03384] the earth.
  • rain watering/teach[03384] = to shoot arrows, to throw water, rain, to flow as water, to instruct, to point out (as if by aiming the finger)

Notice how the word for rain/ watering is the same as teach. This is very comforting. To those who press on to know and acknowledge the Lord with an undivided{pure} heart, He will come like rain to water/teach{fill} personally.

Psalm 33:2 NLT … Let Your unfailing love surround us, LORD, for our hope is in You alone.
