From NetBible Jeremiah 9:24
Let them boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the LORD who is just and righteous, whose love is unfailing, and that I delight in these things. I, the LORD, have spoken!

  • boast[01984] = to praise, boast, glory, shine
I will boast only in the LORD; let all who are humble/discouraged take heart. –Psalm 34:2
Remember me, O LORD, with the favor You have toward Your people. Oh, visit me when You deliver/save. 5 May I share in the benefit of Your chosen ones. May I rejoice in the joy of Your people and boast along with those who belong to you. –Psalm 106:4-5
  • delight[02654] = take pleasure in, desire, be pleased with
He has made clear to you, O man, what is good; and what is desired[02654] from you by the Lord: To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. –Micah 6:8
  • * The Lord delights in demonstrating unfailing love, justice and righteousness to the earth=> He also delights/desires these characteristics in people see Hos 6:6; Mic 6:8.

.
From NetBible 1Cor 1:31;2Cor 10:17

  • * From Jer 9:24. The themes of Jer 9 have influenced Paul’s presentation in vv. The themes of 26-31. Jeremiah calls upon the wise, the strong, and the wealthy not to trust in their resources but in their knowledge of the true God – and so to boast in the Lord. Paul addresses the same three areas of human pride.

  • Ellicott’s Commentary
Let him that glorieth glory in this . . .–The passage is interesting as having clearly been present to the mind of St. Paul in writing 1Corinthians 1:31; 2Corinthians 10:17. He had learnt from it to estimate the wisdom and the greatness on which the Corinthians prided themselves at their true value. We may find a parallel even in the higher words which teach us that “eternal life is to know God” (John 17:3), to understand those attributes, love, judgment, righteousness, which we associate with our thoughts of Him, as indeed they are in their infinite perfection, and which when we know them as we ought to know, we must needs strive to reproduce.

.
From NetBible 2Corinthians 10:18

  • approved[1384] = proven genuine, tried, accepted, pleasing
    * some money changers were men of integrity, who
would accept no counterfeit money. They were men of honour who put
only genuine full weighted money into circulation. Such men were
    called “dokimos” or “approved”.

.
From NetBible Psalm 34:2-3
Let my soul boast in the LORD; let all who are humble{oppressed-afflicted-discouraged-poor in spirit} take heart and rejoice.
Oh, magnify{glorify-give praise to} the LORD {tell of the LORD’s greatness} with me, and let us exalt His name together!

  • *the psalmist is calling his audience to worship
=>to join him as he boasts/glories in the Lord

Hope Anchored in Jesus!

April 22, 2020

Hebrews 6:16-20 NASB … For men swear by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath given as confirmation is an end of every dispute. 17 In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, 18 so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. 19 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast and one which enters within the veil, 20 where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for us, having become a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
.
No matter how big the storm
Hope anchored in Jesus both steadfast and sure
The anchor of your soul that will always hold!
.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, I know I don’t need to fear the storms of life when my hope is anchored in You!

Quicken Me

April 20, 2020

.
Job 33:4 AMPC … [It is] the Spirit of God that made me [which has stirred me up], and the breath of the Almighty that gives me life [which inspires me].
.
The words from the Song in the previous post are still on my heart: Jesus breathe through me.
.
So how does Jesus “breathe” through us?
The answer came from the scriptures and word study below.
.
Jesus “breathes” His word(Psalm 119:107)! His words are spirit and life(John 6:63)!
.
When the Holy Spirit breathes on the Word it’s like seed quickened to life, i.e. it germinates, springs up, grows.  This quickening, giving life – revives, restores, and/or refreshes, from sickness, discouragement, faintness, death. The work and power of the Spirit of Truth is revealed!
.

Prayer:
Jesus breathe through me. Bring life as only You can. Life that reveals the work and power of the Spirit of Truth = a testimony of Jesus bringing glory to His name.

.
Psalm 119:105,107 AMPC … Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. …
… I am sorely afflicted; renew and quicken me [give me life], O Lord, according to Your word!
.
John 6:63 AMP … It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh conveys no benefit [it is of no account]. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and life [providing eternal life].

.

    • from sickness, discouragement, faintness, death

.
From NetBible Psalm 119:107
I am afflicted very much; Revive{quicken}[02421] me, O LORD, according to Your word.
.
From NetBible John 6:63
It is the Spirit who gives life{quickens}; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.

  • Spirit[4151] = breath {of the wind}, HolySpirit, emphasizes work and power of the Spirit of Truth
    • [4154] = to breathe, to blow {of the wind}
  • gives life[2227] = quickens, makes alive, restore life, revitalize
** seeds quickened into life, i.e. germinating, springing up, growing

Jesus Breathe Through Me

.
A Song:

Let every breath glorify Your name! –Psalm 50:23
.
Jesus breathe through me …
.
Psalm 50:23 AMPC … He who brings an offering of praise and thanksgiving honors and glorifies Me; and he who orders his way aright [who prepares the way that I may show him], to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God.
.

.
A Prayer:
2Thessalonians 1:11-12 … We pray for you always, that our God will make you worthy of His calling, and that by His power He may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

.
.
Isaiah 7:9 AMP … If you will not believe [and trust in God and His message], be assured that you will not be established.
.

Rest High Upon the Rock!

March 21, 2020

Psalm 61:1-2 Amplified Bible (AMP)
1 Hear my cry, O God; Listen to my prayer.

Lavished Grace Upon Grace

February 27, 2020

.
1 John 3:1-3 … Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed{lavished} on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
.
From the song in the previous post the phrases “the riches of His grace” and the word “lavished” were impressed on my heart. This leads to Ephesians 1:7-8.
.
Ephesians 1:7-8 … In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight …

  • From NetBible Eph 1:8
lavish[4052] = to have in abundance, abounding
**”Abounding” is used of a flower going from a bud to full bloom.
    .
  • From NetBible Jn 1:16
From His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.
    .

=>grace “on top of” grace, = accumulation
=> probably based on this verse: Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You{reveal, teach} and that I may find grace in Your sight{eyes} Ex 33:13

.

The riches of His grace, grace upon grace is an ongoing process lavished on us in abundance! This causes us to mature and grow more and more like Him; much like the process of a bud growing to a full blooming flower as it receives sunlight!

.
The following prayer takes on deeper meaning!!
.
Philippians 1:9-11 … And this I pray, that your love may abound[4052] still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

  • From NetBible Phil 1:9
abound[4052] = to have in abundance, abounding, lavish
**”Abounding” is used of a flower going from a bud to full bloom.
    .
  • From NetBible Phil 1:10
sincere[1506] = found pure when unfolded and examined by the sun’s light, tested as genuine, unspotted
*from heile (the sun’s ray) and 2919; judged by sunlight, i.e. tested as genuine (figuratively):-pure, sincere.
  • What a beautiful picture of a sincere pure heart! The heart of one with a “sincere” devotion to the Lord will be found pure when examined and judged by the Son, the light of the world. It will be a heart that has willingly submitted to Lord’s searching and cleansing of the “Son/sun”. A heart the will grow; much like a bud growing to a full blooming flower in the sunlight!
