Christian Unity more important than Theology?

December 13, 2018

Ephesians 4:11-16 NASB … And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. 14 As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; 15 but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.
V13 – the goal to attain unity of the faith is very important. It’s about faith not theology or doctrine right?!
A similar question I’ve heard in the past – We are not to contend for doctrines, we are to contend for the faith(Jude 1:3) of believers. After all, doctrine and theology divide, right?!
Look at what the word faith means here, in BOTH verses. See word study.
Faith has to do with a shared view of TRUTH – what the written word has to say about who God is and our relationship to Him{theology}.
Look at Ephesians 4 again, it tells how we are to attain this unity of faith
=> by speaking the TRUTH in love. What the written word has to say about who God is and His relationship to us is directly involved in attaining the unity of faith, contending for the faith AND the equipping of the saints(2Tim 3:16-17)!
Looking more closely at John 17, it also shows that TRUTH is intimately involved in becoming “one”. We are given the Word and Jesus prays that we be sanctified by the Word, the TRUTH. The TRUTH is how we are set apart from the world just as Jesus was(Jn 17:11, 14-19).
Notice that in attaining unity of faith, contending for faith and being set apart to become “one”, Truth, doctrine and theology are involved. Yes, sometimes this will cause division – division from error, false doctrine and people – false teachers and prophets. Some division is not bad, but necessary to preserve the “unity of faith”, “common salvation”.
Also remember it’s the teaching of false doctrine that divides. True doctrine or theology unites. Unity based on anything else is deception.
Love corrects error.
Romans 16:17-18 NKJV … Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. 18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.
Ephesians 5:6-11 NASB … Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. 7 Therefore do not be partakers with them; 8 for you were formerly darkness, but now you are Light in the Lord; walk as children of Light 9 (for the fruit of the Light consists in all goodness and righteousness and truth), 10 trying to learn what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them…

Word Study
From NetBible Eph 4:13Jude 1:3

  • unity of faith[4102] – contend for the faith[4102]
faith[4102] = conviction of the truth of anything, belief; in the NT of a conviction or belief respecting man’s relationship to God and
divine things, generally with the included idea of trust and
holy fervour born of faith and joined with it
  • * The term “faith” has a variety of meanings in the NT. Here, the faith refers to the doctrinal content embraced by believers rather than the act of believing. Rather than discuss the points of agreement that Jude would have with these believers, because of the urgency of the present situation he must assume that these believers were well grounded and press on to encourage them to fight for this common belief.
  • “common salvation” *Jude starts by affirming that the gospel the Gentiles had received from Paul was the same as the one the Jewish Christians had received from the other apostles (our common salvation). But in the midst of writing this letter, Jude felt that the present crisis deserved another, shorter piece. The crisis, as the letter reveals, is that the false teachers whom Peter prophesied have now infiltrated the church. The letter of Jude is thus an ad hoc letter, intended to confirm the truth of Peter’s letter and encourage the saints to ground their faith in the written documents of the nascent church, rather than listen to the twisted gospel of the false teachers. In large measure, the letter of Jude illustrates the necessity of clinging to the authority of scripture as opposed to those who claim to be prophets.

From NetBible Jn 7:11,14-19

  • *  The Greek word translated set…apart{sanctified}(ἁγιάζω, Jagiazw) is used here in its normal sense of being dedicated, consecrated, or set apart. The sphere in which the disciples are to be set apart is in the truth. In 3:21 the idea of “practicing” (Grk “doing”) the truth was introduced; in 8:32 Jesus told some of his hearers that if they continued in his word they would truly be his disciples, and would know the truth, and the truth would make them free.

Jesus Fully God – Fully Man

March 13, 2018

Have you ever wondered how Jesus could say that He did not know the day or hour of His return (Mt 24:36;Mk 13:32) even though He is omniscient (Jn 21:17)?

If Jesus is God, why didn’t He know the day of His return? This dilemma is solved by our understanding that Christ is one Person with two natures. The answer is that in regards to His human nature, Jesus does not have all knowledge. Thus, in His human nature He really did not know the day or hour of His return. But in His divine nature, He does have all knowledge and thus in His divine nature He did know when He would return.

Main Truths of the Incarnation

  1. Jesus has two natures — He is God and man.
  2. Each nature is full and complete — He is fully God and fully man.
  3. Each nature remains distinct.
  4. Christ is only one Person.
  5. Things that are true of only one nature are nonetheless true of the Person of Christ.

Jesus is fully God. He did not give up any of His divine attributes at the incarnation. He remained in full possession of all of them. For if He were to ever give up any of His divine attributes, He would cease being God(Col 2:9).

Jesus fully human. He has a human body (Lk 24:39), a human mind (Lk 2:52), and a human soul (Mt 26:38). Jesus does not just look like a man. He does not just have some aspects of what is essential for true humanity but not others. Rather, He possess full humanity.

He Who Is Not Against Us

November 4, 2017

Luke 9:49-50Now John answered and said, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us”. 50 But Jesus said to him, “Do not forbid him , for he who is not against us is for us”.
Mark 9:38-41John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to prevent him because he was not following us.” 39 But Jesus said, “Do not hinder him, for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. 40 For he who is not against us is for us. 41 For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.
When questioning or exposing false teaching, I have often been met with the above scripture. It has been advanced as a reason for christians to refrain from exposing false teachers and/or immorality.

Is this really proof that Jesus did not want his disciples to try to stop any other teachers who call themselves followers of Christ? Or who are using Christ’s name to do good deeds?

  • First, notice what is not said. The disciples did not say “We tried to stop him, because he is promoting false and dangerous teachings.”
There are many warnings about being on guard against false teachers and false prophets. –Mt 7:15; Mt 24:24; Acts 20:29-31; 2Pe 2:1; 1Jn 4:1.
  • Not all who use Christ’s name are for Him:
Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’
Luke 11:23He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters.
  • It’s clear Jesus saw the heart of the one in the above scriptures and he was not a false teacher.
Don’t Judge motives, do judge teaching and correct/expose the false.

Revealing Sun Rise

March 3, 2017

Matthew 5:43-48 NASB … “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.

Love must be without hypocrisy
Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good
Overcome evil with good
 –Ro 12:9-21

Love your enemies means doing good to them
=> though we cannot approve their conduct.

Sun rise will reveal the children of God-the wheat and also,
The enemies of God(those who commit lawlessness)-the tares

At the end of the age(the harvest) the righteous will shine forth
s the sun in the kingdom of their Father.
He who has ears, let him hear. –Mt 13:36-43

Matthew 13:38=> The world is the field
At the end of the age both wheat & tares are removed from the field

=> The righteous to the Father’s kingdom
=> Those who practice lawlessness to the fire. –
Mt 13:36-43

We are not to judge the world
=> BUT we are to judge those within the church who say they are our brothers/sisters

1 Corinthians 5:9-13, 5 NASB … I wrote you in my letter not to associate with immoral people; 10 I did not at all mean with the immoral people of this world, or with the covetous and swindlers, or with idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. 11 But actually, I wrote to you not to associate with any so-called brother if he is an immoral person, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Do you not judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God judges. Remove the wicked from among yourselves.

=> The wicked are removed from within the church for their good!

5 I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

SonRise reveals both Wheat&Tares=>Love Ur enemies means doingGood to them-Tho we cant approve their conduct #Discern

How Did Jesus Deal With Territorial Spirits?

February 25, 2017

There seems to be a lot of teaching on territorial spiritual warfare going around. Specifically that territorial spirits must be identified by name, bound and cast into the pit before evangelism can take place in a specific area. This is done on a lot of prayer walks.
Is this biblical? How did Jesus deal with territorial spirits?

Mark 5:1-17 NASB
The Gerasene Demoniac
5 They came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes. 2 When He got out of the boat, immediately a man from the tombs with an unclean spirit met Him, 3 and he had his dwelling among the tombs. And no one was able to bind him anymore, even with a chain; 4 because he had often been bound with shackles and chains, and the chains had been torn apart by him and the shackles broken in pieces, and no one was strong enough to subdue him. 5 Constantly, night and day, he was screaming among the tombs and in the mountains, and gashing himself with stones. 6 Seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran up and bowed down before Him; 7 and shouting with a loud voice, he *said, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God, do not torment me!” 8 For He had been saying to him, “Come out of the man, you unclean spirit!” 9 And He was asking him, “What is your name?” And he *said to Him, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” 10 And he began to implore Him earnestly not to send them out of the country. 11 Now there was a large herd of swine feeding nearby on the mountain. 12 The demons implored Him, saying, “Send us into the swine so that we may enter them.” 13 Jesus gave them permission. And coming out, the unclean spirits entered the swine; and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand of them; and they were drowned in the sea.

14 Their herdsmen ran away and reported it in the city and in the country. And the people came to see what it was that had happened. 15 They *came to Jesus and *observed the man who had been demon-possessed sitting down, clothed and in his right mind, the very man who had had the “legion”; and they became frightened. 16 Those who had seen it described to them how it had happened to the demon-possessed man, and all about the swine. 17 And they began to implore Him to leave their region.

  • Notice v10 => these do seem to be territorial spirits.
  • Notice v6-8=> Jesus was commanding the unclean spirits out of the man before they revealed that they were territorial. It’s interesting that Jesus’ first command to come out appears not to have worked. Also notice these territorial spirits were inside a man and knew who Jesus was.
  • Notice v9=> Jesus does find out their name, but does not appear to use it in allowing the spirits to come out and go into the pigs. He also does not order them to leave the territory and go to the pit of hell.
  • Notice v13=> what do these spirits going into the pigs and over a steep bank into the sea represent? => The final judgement where satan, and those who follow him are thrown into the lake of fire(Rev 20:10, 14-15)-the abyss(Lk 8:30-31)

Why didn’t Jesus just cast these territorial spirits out and into the pit of hell? There is a similar account which has the answer
=> it was not yet the appointed time of final judgement (Mt 8:29).

Is there any danger in christians taking authority and casting demons out into the pit before the time of judgement?
=> Notice that even the archangel Michael did not dare bring judgement against the territorial spirits he fought against.

Jude 1:8-10 NASB
8 Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties. 9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these men revile the things which they do not understand; and the things which they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed.

  • Notice v10 => the warning of being destroyed by passing judgements on the devil and his angels of light(2Cor 11:14).
  • A similar warning here(2Pe 2:11-12) seems to imply it’s the false prophets who encourage this passing judgement on the devil and his angels of light.
  • There is a cross reference from these verses to Daniel 10:13,21
=> This is the verse most often quoted in support of identifying by name, binding and casting territorial spirits into the pit
=> also notice what Daniel prayed – he wasn’t even aware of the battle at the time of this prayer
    Daniel 10:12 NASB
12 Then he said to me, “Do not be afraid, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart on understanding this and on humbling yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to your words.
=> notice the focus of this prayer is not on confronting spirits directly, but on asking humbly for understanding

Luke 10:19-20 NASB
19 Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. 20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven.

  • Notice the focus in these verses=> it’s not on the fact that we have authority, but rather on being humble and rejoicing in the fact that your name is written in the book of life. While we do have authority over the serpent it appears we have to be careful how we use it.
  • Taking authority when it’s not appropriate has severe consequences(Lk 11:24-28)
  • Casting demons to the pit = passing judgement on the devil and his angels of light before the appointed time and risks the person doing this being destroyed or deceived(Jude 1:8-10;2Pe 2:11-12)=> if casting out is appropriate and directed by the Lord it is better to cast out and direct to the feet of Jesus for Him to deal with.

Eat the Meat – Spit Out the Bones!

September 27, 2016

Eat the meat and spit out the bones! Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water!

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard this when questioning a teaching or prophecy that seems to go against what the Bible says – specifically on sound doctrine.

Is the above response in the Bible??

Not everyone can eat the meat – solid food

Infants or immature people still drinking milk can not discern good from evil and are in danger of choking on a bone(error)
=> their faith then being shipwrecked or destroyed –He 5:11-14;1Tim 1:19-20;2Tim 2:18;2Pe 2:2,14,19

Eating leaven affects the whole body

Galatians 5:7-10 AMPC … You were running the race nobly. Who has interfered in (hindered and stopped you from) your heeding and following the Truth? This [evil] persuasion is not from Him Who called you [Who invited you to freedom in Christ]. A little leaven (a slight inclination to error, or a few false teachers) leavens the whole lump [it perverts the whole conception of faith or misleads the whole church]. [For my part] I have confidence [toward you] in the Lord that you will take no contrary view of the matter but will come to think with me. But he who is unsettling you, whoever he is, will have to bear the penalty.

The leaven of the Pharisees is hypocrisy –Lk 12:1

Leaven as a corrupting force needs to be corrected or removed to protect the whole –1Cor 5:6-8

Guard against the leaven = guard your doctrine to protect the whole –Mt 16:12;Ro 16:17-18;Titus 1:9-11

1 Corinthians 5:8 AMPC … Therefore, let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with leaven of vice and malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened [bread] of purity (nobility, honor) and sincerity and [unadulterated] truth.

1 Timothy 4:16 NKJV … Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Proverbs 25:26 NLT … If the godly compromise with the wicked, it is like polluting a fountain or muddying a spring.

From NetBible Pro 25:26
To see the righteous(godly) moved from their steadfastness through fear or favour in the presence of the wicked is as disheartening as to find the stream turbid and defiled at which you were longing to quench your thirst …

Eat the meat-Spit out the bones=>Bones are a danger, a choking hazard for those still on milk

Buy Gold Refined by Fire

Philippians 1:27-30 NIV
Life Worthy of the Gospel
27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. 29 For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him, 30 since you are going through the same struggle you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.

I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire! –Rev 3:18

God’s Voice Will Not Contradict His Word!

September 17, 2016

God’s voice will not contradict His Word!

Numbers 23:19 NASB … “God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

It is impossible for God to lie –Heb 6:18;Titus 1:2
The Spirit of Prophecy = The testimony of Jesus –Rev 19:10
Jesus came into the world, to testify to the truth –Jn 18:37

=> True prophecy will line up with the Truth
=> God’s Word is Truth. –
Jn 17:17

True prophecy will at times encourage and comfort –1Cor 14:3

True prophecy will also at times, cause people to hear/speak true words from the Lord that turn away from evil and sin. –Jer 23:21-22;Jn 16:8;1Jn 3:8;1Cor 14:24

Beware if repentance is always missing and all you hear is “Peace Peace” – prosperity! –Jer 6:14

1 Corinthians 14:13 … Pursue love, yet desire earnestly spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. 2 For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries. 3 But one who prophesies speaks to men for edification and exhortation and consolation.

From NetBible 1Cor 14:3

  • prophesy[4395] = to prophesy, to be a prophet, speak forth by divine inspirations
    => to foretell, to predict
=> to forthtell, to teach, refute, reprove, admonish,
    comfort, praise(utter during worship) others
  • edification[3619] = building up
=> the act of one who promotes another’s growth in Christian wisdom, piety, happiness, holiness
  • exhortation[3874] = to admonish, encourage, instruct/ teach
*from [3870] = to admonish, encourage, instruct/ teach
  • consolation[3619] = to comfort/ calm

Colossians 1:28We proclaim Him, admonishing everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone complete{mature} in Christ.

A Sign of the End

September 15, 2016

Matthew 24:3-5 NASB … As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

4 And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead{deceive} many”.

From NetBible Mt 24:5

  • * I am the Christ = one who has been anointed

The sign of the end = deception
Many will say “I am Christ” = I am anointed
False prophets appear with signs and wonders
… to deceive many
Mt 24:11,24
Because of “lawlessness”, the love of many will grow coldMt 24:12

Take heed that no one deceives you! –Mt 24:4

Many are already here calling out –  I am Anointed, follow me  be anointed!
They say – anyone can prophesy and heal in the name of Jesus!Jesus has warned us ahead of time – DO NOT believe them
DO NOT follow them! –Mt 24:23

Protection from deception =  Know the Jesus the Spirit of Truth
=> and how to apply His word! –Jn 14:6;Jn 16:13;Jn 14:26;Jn 17:17

1 Corinthians 12:29-30, 17  Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues[? Do all interpret? …

… 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be?

Matthew 7:21-24 NASB … “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. 22 Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.’

24 Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock.

Philippians 1:18: As Long As Christ is Preached

September 9, 2016

We are to accept everyone as brothers and sisters as long as Christ is preached(the simple gospel Romans 10:9-10, Nicene Creed, etc…) => Philippians 1:18 defends this principle. Is this true?

When questioning teaching about the deity of Christ on earth or who we as christians are to have unity with, I am usually met with the above idea. Usually it has to do with the Kenosis doctrine and those teaching that Christ poured out His divinity to become man. It is true that these people call themselves christians and are also preaching the simple gospel(Romans 10:9-10, Nicene Creed, etc…). So, should we rejoice with them(unity) that the gospel is being preached and ignore the false doctrine about the deity of Jesus? Let’s look at the scripture.

Philippians 1:14-18 NASB… and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear. 15 Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will; 16 the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; 17 the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. 18 What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice. Yes, and I will rejoice …

From NetBible Phil 1:15

  • envy[5355] = ill-will, jealousy
  • strife[2054] = contention, wrangling, quarreling
  • goodwill[2107] = kindly intent, benevolence

From NetBible Phil 1:16

  • love[26] = brotherly love, affection

From NetBible Phil 1:17

  • selfish ambition[2052] = Paul exhorts to be one in the mind of Christ not putting self forward or being selfish(Phil 2:3;Ja 3:14)
  • pure motives[55] =  honest, sincere motives

From NetBible Phil 1:18

  • pretense[4392] = outward showing
  • truth[225] = objectively, free from pretense,  deceit

First notice that Paul here is talking about motives – both good and bad. Next notice he rejoices because Christ is preached – the true gospel. Also notice what it doesn’t say – it doesn’t say as long as the “simple gospel” is preached. Paul assumes these with good or bad motive are preaching the SAME gospel – that is what he rejoices about.

Also notice that those who preach  Kenosis along with a “simple gospel” are preaching a different Christ and so really preaching a different gospel than that in scripture. This Kenosis Christ has no power until baptism vs. the Christ of scripture who is, was and will always be fully God(Col 2:9;Jn 8:58;Rev 1:7-8).

Does Paul rejoice in this type of preaching? Consider these scriptures, also written by Paul.

Galatians 1:6-10 NASB
Perversion of the Gospel
6 I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; 7 which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed! 9 As we have said before, so I say again now, if any man is preaching to you a gospel contrary to what you received, he is to be accursed[331](condemned to hell)!

10 For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:1-4 NASB
Paul Defends His Apostleship
11 I wish that you would bear with me in a little foolishness; but indeed you are bearing with me. 2 For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy; for I betrothed you to one husband, so that to Christ I might present you as a pure virgin. 3 But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ. 4 For if one comes and preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted, you bear this beautifully. …
… 12 But what I am doing I will continue to do, so that I may cut off opportunity from those who desire an opportunity to be regarded just as we are in the matter about which they are boasting. 13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. 14 No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. 15 Therefore it is not surprising if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness, whose end will be according to their deeds.

2 John 1:9 AMPC … Anyone who runs on ahead [of God] and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ [who is not content with what He taught] does not have God; but he who continues to live in the doctrine (teaching) of Christ [does have God], he has both the Father and the Son.

Notice that these who do not abide in the doctrine of Christ
=> DO NOT have the Father or the Son(
or the Holy Spirit).

What does Jesus say?

John 8:31-32 AMPC … So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples. 32 And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.
