Famine of Hearing

March 12, 2010

Amos 8:11-14
Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord GOD,
That I will send a famine on the land,
NOT a famine of bread,
NOR a thirst for water,
But of HEARING the words of the LORD.
12 They shall wander from sea to sea,
And from north to east;
They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD,
But shall not find it.
13 “ In that day the fair virgins
And strong young men
Shall faint from thirst.
14 Those who swear by the sin of Samaria,
Who say,

‘ As your god lives, O Dan!’
And, ‘As the way of Beersheba lives!’
They shall fall and never rise again.”

The judgement for not eating the true bread{not discriminating what we eat} — seems to be a famine for hearing the words of the LORD.

It’s not a famine of bread, it’s a famine of hearing …

The true bread is pure, tried and tested; it contains no mixture.

Psalm 12:6
The words of the LORD are pure words; As silver tried in a furnace on the earth, refined seven times.

They shall wander … They shall run to and fro, seeking the word of the LORD, but shall not find it. ……

Mark 4:24-25 NKJV
Then He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure[measuring rod, standard of judgment] you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given. 25 For whoever has[takes hold of, eats], to him more will be given; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.”

Mark 4:24-25 AMP
And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure [of thought and study] you give [to the truth you hear] will be the measure [of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you–and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.

25For to him who has will more be given; and from him who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away [by force],

What you eat affects what you hear.
