Encourage Yourself in the LORD!

July 3, 2020

2 Chronicles 32:7; 20:15,22Be strong and courageous, do not fear or be dismayed because of the king of Assyria nor because of the vast army that is with him; for the One with us is greater than those with him. …
… Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this vast army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.
When they began singing and praising, the LORD set ambushes against the sons of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; so they were defeated.

Face Discouragement – Be Bold!

February 2, 2019

Deuteronomy 31:8The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
Discouraged? Afraid? Terrified? Broken? Shattered?
These feelings come from the spirit of fear and intimidation who wants you to remain silent and give up!
The antidote = confidence and trust in the Lord. Proclaim it!
Lord Jesus I am confident of this:
You began a good work in me and
You are faithful to complete it!
Phil 1:6
You have not given me a spirit of fear
But of power and of love and of a sound mind.2Tim 1:7
I refuse to be intimidated or discouraged Phil 1:28
Instead I will speak Your word boldly without fearPhil 1:14
For You go before me and are with me
You, the Lord Jesus Christ are able to keep me
And enable me to stand firm!
Jude 1:24
To the only God our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord
Be glory, majesty, dominion and authority
Before all time and now and forever. Amen.
Jude 1:25

most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

  • bold[5111] = not to dread or shun through fear

From NetBible Phil 1:28
in no way be intimidated by your opponents—which is a sign of destruction for them, but of salvation for you, and that too, from God.

7 For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].
Philippians 1:27-28 AMP
27 Only [be sure to] lead your lives in a manner [that will be] worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I do come and see you or remain absent, I will hear about you that you are standing firm in one spirit [and one purpose], with one mind striving side by side [as if in combat] for the faith of the gospel. 28 And in no way be alarmed or intimidated [in anything] by your opponents, for such [constancy and fearlessness on your part] is a [clear] sign [a proof and a seal] for them of [their impending] destruction, but [a clear sign] for you of deliverance and salvation, and that too, from God.
Jude 1:24-25 AMP
24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling or falling into sin, and to present you unblemished [blameless and faultless-cause you to stand] in the presence of His glory with triumphant joy and unspeakable delight, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and power, before all time and now and forever. Do NOT Be Discouraged

October 26, 2013

Deuteronomy 31:8The LORD Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.

Do NOT be discouraged or afraid
The Lord Himself goes before to prepare the Way
He hems you in
He both precedes and follows you
He is both your vanguard and rearguard
He is right there with you
He has laid His hand upon you
NEVER will He leave or forsake you!

The LORD is my light and my salvation{deliverance}—whom shall I fear? The Lord protects my life!—of whom shall I be afraid? -Ps27:1

I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Rely on the Lord! Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart.
Rely on the Lord!

*Another option is that “light” refers here to divine guidance(see Ps 43:3) – Divine deliverance will in turn demonstrate the Lord’s faithfulness to His people.

See Giants? Look for the BREAD!

February 13, 2013

Numbers 14:8-9If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.

Don’t rebel against the Lord
Or fear the giants
They are BREAD for us.
Their protection is removed
But the Lord is with us.
Fear Not!

Trust in the Lord
Go forward in FAITH
Believe and act on God’s promises!
The giants are BREAD
They are there to strengthen you!

How was Caleb able to see the giants as bread instead of enemies too big to go up against?

But My servant Caleb, because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it. -Nu14:24

He had a “different spirit” – a spirit which totally filled, armed and satisfied him. As Caleb believed and acted on what God told him – the Lord gave him victory!

Psalm 144:1 Praise be to the LORD my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.

From NetBible Nu14:9

  • bread[03899] = food, nourishment, fruit
*from [03898] = to fight, do battle, make war, to eat, use as food

From NetBible Ps144:1

  • battle[04421] = to fight, to war
*from [03898] = to fight, do battle, make war, to eat, use as food

If you see giants before you and find yourself in the midst of a big battle – look for the BREAD= provision, nourishment, instruction from the LORD. Trust and follow Him fully. The Lord will give the victory!

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” -Mt4:4

Children’s BREAD this seems related …

One way to SEE the BREAD
Persist and don’t give up
Worship and pray at the Lord’s feet{Son of David=Messiah}
This precedes receiving the children’s bread-the cure …
AND the daughter the mother was wanting Jesus to heal wasn’t even present! WOW!

Matthew 15:21-25 AMP

21 And going away from there, Jesus withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And behold, a woman who was a Canaanite from that district came out and, with a [loud, troublesomely urgent] cry, begged, Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is miserably and distressingly and cruelly possessed by a demon!

23 But He did not answer her a word. And His disciples came and implored Him, saying, Send her away, for she is crying out after us.

24 He answered, I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 But she came and, kneeling, worshiped Him and kept praying, Lord, help me!

26 And He answered, It is not right (proper, becoming, or fair) to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.

27 She said, Yes, Lord, yet even the little pups (little whelps) eat the crumbs that fall from their [young] masters’ table.

28 Then Jesus answered her, O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you wish. And her daughter was cured from that moment.

NEVER Give Up! {You are my all in all}

November 17, 2009

Yesterday — I was discouraged. The Lord reminded me of HIs great faithfulness AND truth. Psalm 91:4 especially ministered to me.

He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge; His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler{a protective wall}. -Ps 91:4

The Lord drew me ‘under His wings’ and reminded me that my trust and hope is not in anything that I can do — it’s in His faithfulness AND truth. When I’m discouraged or dry — I seek the Lord thru worship — usually in song.

So yesterday after I was singing/playing Great is Your Faithfulness my eye caught another song on youtube ‘You Are My All in ALL’. The Lord has used this song to encourage me more than once — the words spoken along with this song said to me NEVER give up! AND if you are discouraged today — come and seek Him as a precious jewel thru worship. Be drawn under His wings — sing — trust in His faithfulness and truth —

Because You are my help, I sing in the shadow of Your wings. -Ps 63:7

Let Him strengthen you and lift your head. Come magnify the Lord with me, praise His Holy name. Praise the name of Jesus the Lamb of God, my ALL in ALL.

“I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of His glories and grace. I will boast of all His kindness to me. Let all who are discouraged take heart. Let us praise the Lord together and exalt His name.” Psalm 34:1-3, TLB

Seeking You as a precious jewel — LORD to give up I’d be a fool!

Denni Jernigan

This song was born out of my own life many years ago now
What I’ve discovered in the living out of my life
And the living out of my relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ is this:
I cannot pin my hope in anything or anyone other than the Savior
And to not seek Him
Would be the most foolish thing I could do with my life
Whether I live or whether I die
I am the Lord’s, that is the reality, that is the truth
I want us to sing this song together You Are My All in All
And let’s seek the One who is our only hope
Let’s seek the One who is our only Savior
Let’s seek the One who is our Eternal King
Let’s seek the One who wants to be intimately acquainted with
… every detail of our lives
He walks with me thru sorrow
He walks with me thru hardship
He walks with me thru the fire
He walks with me thru the storm
He IS my solid Rock
Why would I not seek Him?
Let’s worship Him together, He is here whether we feel Him or not
He is our strength when we are weak
He certainly He truly is our All in All

Refuse to be Discouraged!

March 14, 2009

Numbers 13:31-33    But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.” 32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size. 33 We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

Has the Lord called you into a seemingly impossible position?
Where all you can see is darkness and ‘giants’ ruling in the land?

Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. –2 Chron 20:15

Refuse to be discouraged!
Refuse to give way to fear!
Refuse to believe the bad reports!
Refuse to walk by your ‘natural eyes’.
Walk by faith, not by sight -2 Cor 5:7
Keep in step with the Holy Spirit. -Gal 5:25

[ The Triumphs of Faith ] Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. –Heb 11:1

Believe the Lord’s good promises
Not one of them will fail.

Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled. –Josh 21:45

Refuse to be discouraged!
Remember who has gone before you to prepare the way
The great I AM is with you and will never leave or forsake you.

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. –Deut 31:8

Be strong in the LORD
Rely only on His power, His direction and not your own

Refuse to be discouraged
Trust in the LORD and His word alone.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. –Eph 6:10

I can do everything through Him who gives me strength. –Phil 4:13

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged because of the king of Assyria and the vast army with him, for there is a greater power with us than with him. –2 Chron 32:7
