Lift Up Your Cup!

April 10, 2017

Psalm 116:12-14 AMPC
12 What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me? [How can I repay Him for all His bountiful dealings?]
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and deliverance and call on the name of the Lord.
14 I will pay my vows to the Lord, yes, in the presence of all His people. …
… 17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving and will call on the name of the Lord.

Before you lift up your cup to be filled
Make sure it’s empty and clean!

Praise the Lord!
He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
He anoints my head with oil; My cup runs over.Ps 23:5

Ephesians 5:18-20 AMPC
18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit. 19 Speak out to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, offering praise with voices [and instruments] and making melody with all your heart to the Lord, 20 At all times and for everything giving thanks in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.

1 Corinthians 11:23-32 NASB
The Lord’s Supper
23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” 25 In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. 28 But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup. 29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly. 30 For this reason many among you are weak and sick, and a number sleep. 31 But if we judged ourselves rightly, we would not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord so that we will not be condemned along with the world.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11 NASB
9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.

Two Kinds of Wine and Blood

April 6, 2017

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. –Eph 5:18

wine[3631] = fiery wine of God’s wrath, winepress
debauchery[810] = an abandoned, dissolute, prodigal, unsaved life

O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me. –Ps 30:2
What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness? –Ps 30:9

blood[01818] = blood shed causing death, wine

Two kinds of wine!
=>Wrath or Salvation(filled with the Spirit)

1 Corinthians 5:7 AMPC … Purge (clean out) the old leaven that you may be fresh (new) dough, still uncontaminated [as you are], for Christ, our Passover [Lamb], has been sacrificed.

1 Peter 1:18-19 AMPC … You must know (recognize) that you were redeemed (ransomed) from the useless (fruitless) way of living inherited by tradition from [your] forefathers, not with corruptible things [such as] silver and gold,19 But [you were purchased] with the precious blood of Christ (the Messiah), like that of a [sacrificial] lamb without blemish or spot.

Two kinds of blood!
=>Wrath{death} or Lamb’s blood{life}

Deuteronomy 32:12-14 NASB …  The Lord alone guided him,
And there was no foreign god with him. 13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, And he ate the produce of the field; And He made him suck honey from the rock, And oil from the flinty rock, 14 Curds of cows, and milk of the flock,
With fat of lambs, And rams, the breed of Bashan, and goats, With the finest of the wheat— And of the blood[01818] of grapes you drank wine.

Honey = God’s word –Ps 119:103
Oil = Holy Spirit –Zec 4:6
Rock = Christ –1Cor 10:4
