I Belong to my Beloved

February 25, 2020

“Fear not, I have redeemed you; I call you by name,
you are Mine!” –Isaiah 43:1

You are loved with an everlasting love
I will never forget you
My treasured possession
A living stone to declare My praise …
I am my Beloved’s, and my Beloved is mine. –Song 6:3

Word Study
From NetBible Song 6:3

  • * This is the second occurrence of the poetic refrain that occurs elsewhere in 2:16 and 7:11. The order of the first two cola are reversed from 2:16: “My beloved is mine and I am his” (2:16) but “I am my beloved’s and he is mine” (6:3). This may signal a shift in her view of their relationship: Originally, she focused on her possession of him, now she focused on his possession of her. => intimacy with the Lord has grown

From NetBible Jeremiah 31:3
“Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness{unfailing love, mercy} I have drawn you”.
From NetBible Isaiah 43:1, Isaiah 43:4
“Fear not, I have redeemed you; I call you by name,
you are Mine!” …
Since you are precious and special{honored} in my sight,
and I love you …

  • The beasts of the field will glorify Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I have given waters in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My chosen people{elect of God}. –Isaiah 43:20
  • “They will be mine,” says the LORD Almighty, “on the day that I prepare My own treasured possession{jewels}, and I will spare them as a man spares his own son who serves him.” –Malachi 3:17
=>Those who fear the Lord, become His treasured possession{jewels} whom He will never forget – even in time of great judgement
=>We are of greater worth to the Father than the most stunning jewels imaginable, because of the price He was willing to pay
    =the precious blood of Christ. –1Peter 1:19

From NetBible Isaiah 43:21
The people whom I formed for Myself Will declare{show forth} My praise.

  • But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light –1Peter 2:9
=>a people who have received His mercy –1Peter 2:10
    =>living stones{jewels} –1Peter 2:5

Joyful Tree Bloom

Psalm 84:4-5,10 AMP
4 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are those who dwell in Your house and Your presence; they will be singing Your praises all the day long. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!
5 Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man whose strength is in You, in whose heart are the highways to Zion.

10 For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand [anywhere else]; I would rather be a doorkeeper and stand at the threshold in the house of my God than to dwell [at ease] in the tents of wickedness.

Joyful Tree Bloom

Joyful tree planted in the courts of the Lord
Ever praising
Ever green
Ever fresh
Anointed with fresh oil
Ever new
The oil of joy
Before the throne of God
Before the Lamb
Living waters flow.

Joyful tree bloom
An everlasting joy
An everlasting love
An everlasting sign

An everlasting song.

Psalm 92:12-15 AMP
12 The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible].
13 Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 [Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment].
15 [They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Limitless Love

Psalm 36:5 AMP
5 Your mercy and loving-kindness, O Lord, extend to the skies, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.

Could we with ink the ocean fill,
And were the skies of parchment made,
Were every stalk on earth a quill,
And every man a scribe by trade,
To write the love of God above,
Would drain the ocean dry.
Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
Though stretched from sky to sky. -Frederick Lehman hymn

Psalm 36_5
Image from 365 Promises

You are loved with the limitless love of the Lord. An everlasting love that reaches to the heavens!

Jeremiah 31:3 AMP
3 … Yes, I[the Lord] have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn you and continued My faithfulness to you.

Cling to Me

July 3, 2011

Isaiah 27:2-5 (The Message)

“At that same time{in that day},
… a fine vineyard will appear. {a vineyard of red wine}
… There’s something to sing about!
I, God, tend it.
… I keep it well-watered.
I keep careful watch over it
… so that no one can damage it.
I’m not angry. I care.
… Even if it gives me thistles and thornbushes,
I’ll just pull them out
… and burn them up.
Let that vine cling to me for safety,
… let it find a good and whole life with me,
… let it hold on for a good and whole life.”

Come to Me
Know my unfailing love
I have called you by name
My love is everlasting
Be drawn to Me
-Jer 31:3
Cling to Me, cling to me like a vine
Like the true vine clings to the Father
-Jn 15:1
I will keep you safe
My love is eternal
Forever I am yours and
You are mine.
-Isa 43:1

The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, His mercies never
come to an end. –Lam 3:22 NRSV

Word Study

From NetBible Isa 27:5

  • cling[02388] = to fasten upon, bind, cleave, take hold
  • safety[04581] = a place of protection, refuge, stronghold (to prevail)
  • good and whole life[07965] = completeness, soundness, welfare, peace
    • from [07999] = to be in a covenant of peace

From NetBible Isa 27:3

  • keep[05341] = to guard with fidelity, preserve

From NetBible Jn 15:1
I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.

  • vinedresser[1092] = husbandman
  • The imagery of the vine underscores the importance of fruitfulness in the Christian life and the truth that this results not from human achievement, but from one’s position in Christ. … To some degree the figure is similar to the head-body metaphor used by Paul, with Christ as head and believers as members of the body. Both metaphors bring out the vital and necessary connection which exists between Christ and believers.

By my everlasting God.

No tongue can bid me to depart -Isa 54:17

Question: Why run?

Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers.” “We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will extol your love more than wine. Rightly do they love you.” -Song 1:4

My soul follows hard after You; Your right hand upholds me. -Ps 63:8

But without faith it is impossible to please Him , for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. -Heb 11:6

And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You. -Ps 9:10

Those with faith know His name and trust Him –> so they run after, follow hard after, diligently seek Him because they love Him.

Word Study

From NetBible Ps 90:1, Ps 71:3

  • dwelling place[04583] = habitation, refuge,
a place to be covered, concealed & safe

From From NetBible Prov 18:10

  • *The metaphor of “running” to the Lord refers to a whole-hearted and unwavering trust in God’s protection*safe- Heb “is high” or “is inaccessible.” This military-type expression stresses the effect of the trust – security, being out of danger (see HALOT 1305 s.v. שׂגב). Other scriptures will supply the ways that God actually protects people who trust him.

safe[07682] = to be set on high, inaccessibly high, out of reach

From NetBible Jer 31:3; Song 1:4

  • Draw is used figuratively of a master gently leading an animal with leather cords (Hos 11:4) and of a military victor leading his captives (Jer 31:3). The point of comparison might be that the woman wants to be the willing captive of the love of her beloved, that is, a willing prisoner of his love.

draw[04900] = to attract, lead along(and lift out)

From NetBible Psa 63:8

  • follows hard[01692] = pursue to catch or overtake with determination
to cling, cleave or be joined

From NetBible Heb 11:6

  • diligently seek[1567] = to strive after, to crave

From NetBible Psa 9:10

  • “To know” the Lord’s “name” means to be his follower, recognizing his authority and maintaining loyalty to him. See Ps 91:14, where “knowing” the Lord’s “name” is associated with loving him.
