Grace and Glory – Every Good Gift

January 6, 2020

Psalms 84:11-12For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord gives grace and glory;
No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts,
How blessed are those who trust in You!

Grace and Glory
Sun and Shield –Psalms 84:11
Every good gift from the Father above –James 1:17
No good thing does He withhold
From His children of light –Ephesians 5:8
From those whose walk is upright –Micah 2:7;Psalms 34:8-10,84:11
Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord! –Psalms 84:12
Matthew 7:7-8,11Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. …
… If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give what is good to those who ask Him!

From NetBible Mt 7:7
seek[2212] = to seek [in order to find out] by thinking, meditating, reasoning, to enquire into, to crave
– to seek (literally or figuratively); specially,
(by Hebraism) to worship (God)
From NetBible Mt 7:11
* The provision of the good gifts is probably a reference to the wisdom and guidance supplied in response to repeated requests. The teaching as a whole stresses not that we get everything we want, but that God gives the good that we need.

Word Study
From NetBible Phil 4:19

  • supply[4137] = to make full, to fill up, to cause to abound

From BibleHub Phil 4:19

  • according to his riches—The measure of His supply to you will be the immeasurable “riches of His grace” (Eph 1:7).
  • in glory—These words belong to the whole sentence. “Glory” is the element in which His rich grace operates; and it will be the element IN which He will “supply fully all your need.”
  • by Christ Jesus—by virtue of your being “IN” (so Greek, not “by”) Christ Jesus, the Giver and Mediator of all spiritual blessings.

Grace and Glory

Psalm 119:49-50 AMP … Remember [fervently] the word and promise to Your servant, in which You have caused me to hope. This is my comfort and consolation in my affliction: that Your word has revived me and given me life.

affliction[06040] = suffering, pain, sorrow, trouble
revived[02421] gives life, quickened, restored, refreshed

  • from sickness, discouragement, faintness, death

His word
……brings hope
……brings life

Psalm 84:11-12 AMP … For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows [present] grace and favor and [future] glory (honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss)! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. O Lord of hosts, blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts in You [leaning and believing on You, committing all and confidently looking to You, and that without fear or misgiving]!

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. -Heb 4:16
