Trust His Timing!

February 21, 2019

The following encouraged me today.
🙂

From ODB.org:

Habakkuk lived in Judah in the late seventh century bc before the Israelites were taken into exile. The prophet found himself in a society that overlooked social injustice and was immobilized by the fear of imminent invasion by the Babylonians (Habakkuk 1:2–11). He asked the Lord to intervene and remove suffering (1:13). God replied that He would act justly but in His timing (2:3).

In faith, Habakkuk chose to trust the Lord. Even if the suffering did not end, the prophet believed that God would continue to be his strength.

Habakkuk 3:17-19 AMPC … Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, [though] the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls, 18 Yet I will rejoice  in the Lord; I will exult in the [victorious] God of my salvation! 19 The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!

Are you disappointed in the pace of God’s plans?

Choose to trust the Lord and His timing no matter the circumstances you find yourself in today!

Isaiah 64:4 AMPC … For from of old no one has heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who works and shows Himself active on behalf of him who [earnestly] waits for Him.

Strength to Stand

Psalm 61:1-3 AMP
1 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and fainting; lead me to the rock that is higher than I [yes, a rock that is too high for me].
3 For You have been a shelter and a refuge for me, a strong tower against the adversary.

2 Samuel 22:33-34 AMP
33 God is my strong Fortress; He guides the blameless in His way and sets him free.
34 He makes my feet like the hinds’ [firm and able]; He sets me secure and confident upon the heights.

From NetBible 2Sam 33-34

  • NET … The one true God is my mighty refuge; He removes the obstacles in my way. He gives me the agility of a deer;   he enables me to negotiate the rugged terrain.
    * in Ps 18:33 it refers to a pathway free of obstacles. The reality underlying the metaphor is the psalmist’s ability to charge into battle without tripping (see vv. 33, 36).
*He sets me secure and confident upon the heights. = “and on my high places he makes me walk.” The imperfect verbal form emphasizes God’s characteristic provision. The psalmist compares his agility in battle to the ability of a deer to negotiate rugged, high terrain without falling or being injured. Habakkuk uses similar language to describe his faith during difficult times. See Hab 3:19.

When your heart is overwhelmed
Remember who your strength is
Remember who helps make a way
Where there appears to be no way.

Remember the hind and
Rely on the Lord to give you strength and
Help you negotiate “rugged terrain” without falling.

Psalm 18:33,36 AMPC
33 He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places.

36 You have given plenty of room for my steps under me, that my feet would not slip.

Habakkuk 3:17-19 AMPC
17 Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, [though] the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls, 18 Yet I will rejoice  in the Lord; I will exult in the [victorious] God of my salvation! 19 The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!
