1 Corinthians 13:12 AMP
For now [in this time of imperfection] we see in a mirror dimly [a blurred reflection, a riddle, an enigma], but then [when the time of perfection comes we will see reality] face to face{Jesus}. Hoping for what we cannot see means awaiting it with patient endurance.

Hebrews 10:37-39 AMP
37 For still a little while (a very little while), and the Coming One will come and He will not delay.
38 But the just shall live by faith [My righteous servant shall live by his conviction respecting man’s relationship to God and divine things, and holy fervor born of faith and conjoined with it]; and if he draws back and shrinks in fear, My soul has no delight or pleasure in him.
39 But our way is not that of those who draw back to eternal misery (perdition) and are utterly destroyed, but we are of those who believe [who cleave to and trust in and rely on God through Jesus Christ, the Messiah] and by faith preserve the soul.

Faith For Things Unseen

November 28, 2013

Hebrews 11:1 AMP … Now faith is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

Hebrews 11:1 NKJV … Now faith is the *substance[5287] of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is the firm foundation of our hope
All we’ve seen of God’s provision
Teaches us to trust Him and have faith for things unseen!

The Son is the exact nature/substance of God
Faith in Jesus Christ is the substance/firm foundation of our hope!

Hebrews 11:6 AMP … But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].

Hebrews 3:14 … For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance{substance[5287]} firm until the end …

Hebrews 10:22-25 AMP
22 Let us all come forward and draw near with true (honest and sincere) hearts in unqualified assurance and absolute conviction engendered by faith (by that leaning of the entire human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness), having our hearts sprinkled and purified from a guilty (evil) conscience and our bodies cleansed with pure water.

23 So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word.

24 And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities,

25 Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.

Hold fast the substance of our faith in Jesus Christ until the end!

Word Study.

From Vine’s Expository Dictionary

  • [5287] is translated “substance”
    (a) in Hebrews 1:3, of Christ as “the very image” of God’s “substance;” here the word has the meaning of the real nature of that to which reference is made in contrast to the outward manifestation (See the preceding clause); it speaks of the Divine essence of God existent and expressed in the revelation of His Son. The AV, “person” is an anachronism; the word was not so rendered till the 4th cent. Most of the earlier Eng. versions have “substance;”
    (b) in Hebrews 11:1 it has the meaning of “confidence, assurance” (RV), marg., “the giving substance to,” AV, “substance,” something that could not equally be expressed by elpis, “hope.”

Faith

November 20, 2011

Faith trusts and then sees.

Proverbs 3:5-6 CEV … With all your heart you must trust the Lord and not your own judgment. Always let Him lead you and He will clear the road for you to follow.

When you see great obstacles in the way ahead
Don’t stop walking
Continue forward one step a time and trust
Don’t focus on the obstacles and doubt
Trust the Lord with all your heart
He will make a way
And open a door before you.

Doubt sees the obstacles. Faith sees the way.

Doubt sees the darkest night. Faith sees the day.

Doubt dreads to take a step. Faith soars on high.

Doubt questions,’Who believes’ Faith answers,’I’.

Faith is taking the first step
Even when you don’t see the whole staircase.

Hebrews 11:1 NLT … Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

Walk by Faith

January 30, 2011

2 Corinthians 5:7  we walk by faith, not by sight–

Hebrews 11:1  NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses].

Hebrews 11:27 [Motivated] by faith he left Egypt behind him, being unawed and undismayed by the wrath of the king; for he never flinched but held staunchly to his purpose and endured steadfastly as one who gazed on Him Who is invisible.

Exodus 2:15  When Pharaoh heard of it, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh’s presence and took refuge in the land of Midian, where he sat down by a well.

Faith is to believe what we do not see, and the reward of this faith is to see what we believe. –St. Augustine

When times are hard and your eyes can’t see the light
Remember what He said:
Walk by faith and not by sight.

It’s much easier to walk on water when you know it’s frozen firm beneath your feet and there’s no chance of sinking!
hahaha!
