By the Breath of the Almighty

August 10, 2013

Job 33:4 AMP … [It is] the Spirit of God that made me [which has stirred me up], and the breath of the Almighty that gives me life [which inspires me].

Psalm 150:6 AMP … Let everything that has breath and every breath of life praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)

Exodus 15:2The LORD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him{prepare Him a habitation}; My father’s God, and I will exalt Him.

Psalm 119:49-50 AMP … Remember [fervently] the word and promise to Your servant, in which You have caused me to hope. This is my comfort and consolation in my affliction: that Your word has revived me and given me life.

As we praise the Lord by the breath of the Almighty

We prepare for Him a habitation – a dwelling place to abide

Here, as we beautify and adorn Him with our praises

The Spirit of God, the breath of the Almighty breathes

His light and word shine forth breathing life.  -Jn 1:4

As we praise through our Lord Jesus Christ, Jesus the Living Word revives, quickens, restores, refreshes

–> from sickness, discouragement, faintness, death!

Hebrews 13:15 … Through Him[Jesus Christ], therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge andconfess and glorify His name.

Be Thankful!

November 27, 2011

Colossians 3:15Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful[2170].

Being thankful means to be grateful; grateful enough to express this gratitude to the one who has shown you favor.

Jesus Christ is our peace. It’s only through His sacrifice, His blood that we can have fellowship and peace with God(Eph 2:13-14;Rom 5:1-2). Only because of Jesus, our Passover[Lamb](1Cor 5:7), can we come before God with a grateful heart and offer our thanks.

When we do this in our own heart the peace of Christ rules!

1 Thessalonians 5:18In everything give thanks[2168]; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

When we come before God with a grateful heart and offer our thanks in everything the peace of Christ rules no matter what our circumstances!

Philippians 4:6-7Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving[2169], let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We can can give thanks through Jesus on our own or together as part of His body. Through Jesus we can be full of gratitude and rejoice exceedingly together for His indescribable gift!

Hebrews 13:15Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that give thanks[3670] to His name.

2 Corinthians 9:15Thanks[5485] be to God for His indescribable gift!

King of Righteous King of Peace

July 14, 2011

Genesis 14:18-20Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, He blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” He[Abram] gave him a tenth of all.

… First, his name(Melchizedek) means “king of righteousness”; then also, “king of Salem” means “king of peace”. Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, he remains a priest perpetually. -Heb 7:2-3

King of righteousness, King of peace, Jesus Christ our priest perpetually!

… Jesus, on the other hand, because He continues forever, holds His priesthood permanently. Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. -Heb 7:24-25

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf. -1 Cor 10:16-17

The cup of blessing: His body the bread, His blood the wine.

Interesting question: Does “the cup of blessing” mean the cup that blesses us or does it mean the cup that we bless God with?

  • The word study below shows both are true! 🙂

Wow! Look at the blessing above it too goes ‘both’ ways!

The King of righteousness, King of peace, Jesus Christ our perpetual priest thru the cup of blessing(His body and blood) blesses both us(with the cup of salvation) and the God most high(with the cup of thanksgiving).

Hebrews 13:15Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.

The cup of blessing-answering to the Jewish “cup of blessing,” over which thanks were offered in the Passover. It was in doing so that Christ instituted this part of the Lord’s Supper (Mt 26:27; Lu 22:17, 20)

The Altar Place

July 4, 2011

Genesis 12:7-8 … Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, I will give this land to your posterity. So Abram built an altar there to the Lord, Who had appeared to him.

8From there he pulled up [his tent pegs] and departed to the mountain on the east of Bethel and pitched his tent, with Bethel on the west and Ai on the east; and there he built an altar to the Lord and called upon the name of the Lord.

The Altar Place

The altar place
A place of grace
To evermore seek the Lord’s face.

In the secret place
From His holy hill He answers me
His light and truth, they guide me
To the altar of God
My God, my Jesus, my exceeding joy. -Ps 43:3-4

As the deer pants
So my soul thirsts
For the living God -Ps 42:1-2
Behold the beauty of the Lord!
Rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory! -1 Pe 1:18

The altar place
A place of Christ
Thru the blood of the Lamb
A place of grace
A place of rejoicing
To evermore seek the His face.

1 Chronicles 16:11 Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!

Psalm 27:4-7
One thing I have asked from the LORD, that I shall seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the LORD
And to meditate in His temple.
5 For in the day of trouble He will conceal me in His tabernacle;
In the secret place of His tent He will hide me;
He will lift me up on a rock.
6 And now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me,
And I will offer in His tent sacrifices with shouts of joy;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the LORD.

7 Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice,
And be gracious to me and answer me.

Hebrews 13:15
Through Him[Jesus] then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.

Christ is both our altar and our sacrifice, our High priest.
Make Him known, wherever you go – make an altar place …

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. … Apart from Me you can do nothing. -Jn 15:4-5

It may look like you are in a dry and weary land
where there is no water
where it looks like no fruit could ever grow.
It may look like all promises to you are void.

Do not give up! Things are not as they appear.
Sing O barren sing! -Isa 54:1
The fruit of your lips will soon be revealed
No weapon formed against you shall prosper. -Isa 54:17
Spring up oh well! Sing to it! -Num 21:17

There is no sweeter song than the song of faith sung in the desert where it looks as if nothing could ever bloom.

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. -Heb 10:23

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess His name. -Heb 13:15

THE WILDERNESS and the dry land shall be glad; the desert shall rejoice and blossom like the rose and the autumn crocus. -Isa 35:1

Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Lift up a song for Him who rides through the deserts{upon the clouds}, Whose name is the LORD{YAH}, and exult before Him. … O God, when You went forth before Your people, When You marched through the wilderness, Selah. The earth quaked; The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God; Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel. You gave abundant showers, O God; You refreshed Your weary inheritance. -Ps 68:4,7-9

They will not hunger or thirst, nor will the scorching desert heat or sun strike them down; For He who has compassion on them will lead them and will guide them to springs of water. -Isa 49:10

The desert only needs one cloud burst to bloom.

Sing to Yah, sing praises to His name.
Exalt the One and Only who rides upon the clouds thru the desert
Rejoice before Him who drops His rain from the clouds
Be refreshed, showered in His presence
There are streams in the desert -Isa 35:6
Drink in His tender mercies

Against all odds the desert rose unfolds and blooms
Fruit is revealed.

His going forth is as certain as the dawn; And He will come to us like the rain, Like the spring rain watering the earth. -Hos 6:3

A Sacrifice of Praise

February 23, 2011

Hebrews 13:15 NIV  Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that confess His name.

Through Jesus! Without Jesus we can not bear fruit.

Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. -Jn 15:4

Through Jesus! Together as we assemble and offer a sacrifice of praise – a thank offering: singing praises to honor His name
—> this is a way of abiding with Him and bearing fruit
—> the fruit of our lips!

Why should we assemble together and honor His name in this way?

  1. Because of His mercy, unfailing love and faithfulness and because His promises are backed by all the honor of His name.
  2. This is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Psalm 138:2 I bow before Your holy Temple as I worship. I will give thanks to Your name for Your unfailing love and faithfulness, because Your promises are backed by all the honor of Your name.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything{in all circumstances} give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Lord help us to always come before You offering our praises with our whole hearts. Thank You that as we do this we will abide in You and You in us.

Bull? Or Fruit of Your Lips?
Drink Offering

Drink Offering

September 28, 2009

Psalm 23:5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Psalm 116:12-17 What shall I render to the LORD for all His benefits toward me{all He has poured out on me}? I will lift up the cup of salvation{deliverance} and call on the name of the LORD. I will fulfil my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people. Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. O LORD, truly I am your servant; I am your servant, the son of your maidservant; you have freed me from my chains. To You I shall offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving, and call upon the name of the LORD.

The overflowing cup, pouring forth, I never realized before that this image represents the pouring out of a drink offering!

In the Law they used to make a banquet when they gave solemn thanks to God, and to take the cup and drink is a sign of thanksgiving. The cup of salvation-the drink offering was part of the thank offering.

Numbers 15:3-5 ‘and you make an offering by fire to the LORD, a burnt offering or a sacrifice, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill offering or in your appointed feasts, to make a sweet aroma to the LORD, from the herd or the flock, ‘then he who presents his offering to the LORD shall bring a grain offering of one–tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one–fourth of a hin of oil; ‘and one–fourth of a hin of wine as a drink offering you shall prepare with the burnt offering or the sacrifice, for each lamb.

The drink offering is poured out on the burnt offering along with the grain offering mixed with oil. Lambs were used as burnt offerings. Jesus as our Passover Lamb (1 Cor 5:7) is a picture of a burnt offering. When Jesus says “my flesh is real{true} food and my blood is real{true} drink” (Jn 6:55) it’s a picture of His blood as a drink offering (Phil 2:17; 2 Tim 4:6) and His body as a grain offering; the wine and the bread.

The overflowing cup, pouring forth in abundance, because Christ first drank the cup His Father set before Him(Mt 26:42;Lk 22:20;1 Cor 11:25).

Isaiah 53:12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He *poured out Himself to death, and was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, and interceded for the transgressors.

Philippians 2:5-11, 17 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation{emptied, poured out Himself}, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. … But even if I am being poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and share my joy with you all.

It’s only because of Christ’s sacrifice that we can have communion with Him and with each other.

1 Corinthians 10:16-17 Is not the cup of thanksgiving for which we give thanks a participation in the blood of Christ? And is not the bread that we break a participation in the body of Christ? 17Because there is one loaf, we, who are many, are one body, for we all partake of the one loaf.

How beautiful is the cup of salvation lifted up; a cup overflowing with thanksgiving for all Christ has and is pouring out on us. Blood poured out from the broken body of the spotless Passover Lamb. Spiritual drink, spiritual food offered and consumed in the presence of His people. Living water flowing in abundance from the Rock(1 Cor 10:3-4; Ex 17:6; Num 20:11; Ps 78:15 ) Sing to the well, the well of your salvation, with the rod of your mouth strike the Rock that it may yield it’s living water for all who are thirsty to drink(Num 21:16-18;Num 20:8;Isa 11:1-4;Rev 22:17)!

Hebrews 13:15 Through Him{Jesus} then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name.
