Safe in the Father’s Arms

February 11, 2020

Safe in the Father’s arms
Because the hands that hold the world
Are holding your heart
–Phil Wickham: Safe
Let the little children come …
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. –Matthew 19:14

Come with simple childlike faith
Know the wonder and joy of being safe
Held in the Heavenly Father’s embrace

… Taking the child in his arms, Jesus said, “Whoever receives one child like this in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me does not receive Me, but Him who sent Me.” –Mark 9:36-37

Isaiah 40:11-12 AMP … He will protect His flock like a shepherd,
He will gather the lambs in His arm,
He will carry them in His bosom;
He will gently and carefully lead those nursing their young.
12 Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand,
And marked off the heavens with a span [of the hand],
And calculated the dust of the earth with a measure,
And weighed the mountains in a balance
And the hills in a pair of scales?

Held in the Hollow

February 18, 2012

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of His hand or with the breadth of His hand marked off the heavens? -Isa 40:12

A cupped hand
The hollow of His hand
Protected on all sides

My dove
You are held safe in the hollow of My hand
Trust me to revive, refresh and restore you
My living waters flow
From that place where you are kept safe
Held in the hollow of My hand.

Rest here
Surrender all
I know you have no strength of your own.

Wait here, held in the palm of My hand
Held in My gaze
The apple of My eye
Until I give you wings{strength} to fly. -Isa 60:8;Ps 55:6

Can a woman forget her nursing child and have no compassion on the son of her womb? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! Behold, I have engraved you{your name} on the palms{hollow} of My hands; Your walls are continually before Me. -Isa 49:15-16

Those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired. -Isa 40:31 AMP

2 Timothy 1:12For this reason I also suffer these things, but I
am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced
that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.

Word Study

From NetBible Isa 26:3

  • keep[05341]= guard with fidelity, watch over, protect
  • perfect peace[07965] = complete peace, safety
with God especially in covenant relationship – entering into a relationship of wholeness/ unity
  • steadfast[05564]= to lean, lay, rest upon, to stand fast
  • trust[0982] = to be confident, secure, sure
    to hide for refuge

From NetBible Ps 17:8

  • Keep/protect me as the apple of Your eye
    *From Zech 2:8

    • the apple (pupil) of the eye[0892] = gate
The pupil is one of the most vulnerable and valuable parts of the body, so for Judah to be considered the “pupil” of the Lord’s eye is to raise her value to an incalculable price (cf. NLT “my most precious possession”).

From NetBible Song 1:15, 5:12, 4:1

  • eyes like doves
    * The comparison has to do with gentleness and purity, as well as longing and simplicity

    * like doves[03123]
(apparently from the warmth of their mating – like the warmth/effervesce from wine)* this may be a comparison of sense, usually suggesting that the dove is a symbol for purity and that the eyes of a person are the windows of their soul or character, that is, the bride has a pure character as can be seen through her eyes.

From NetBible Mt 6:22
If you eye is single

  • single[573]= sound, whole, clear, pure, true

your whole body will be full of light.

  • full of light[5460] = of a bright character, lustrous
*full of truth and its knowledge, together with the spiritual purity associated with it

From NetBible Ps 123:1

To You I lift up my eyes

  • lift up[05375] = marry, desire, long for

From NetBible Ps 86:11

give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name.

  • undivided heart[03161] = heart joined, united, married
    to fear the Lord’s name
  • fear[03372] = to stand in awe of, reverence, honour, respect

In His Arms

March 4, 2010

Isaiah 40:11 He tends{feeds} His flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart; He gently leads those that have young.

My heart is glad that You’ve called me Your own
There’s no place I’d rather be than in Your arms of love
My loving Savior my precious Jesus
It’s so peaceful in the arms of my Lord
In His presence I am sheltered from the storm
It’s so good to have His Spirit, it’s so good to have His Word
And it’s so peaceful in the arms of my Lord
Hold me still …
Hold me near …
I sing a simple song of love to my Savior to my Jesus
I’m thankful for the things You’ve done
My loving Savior my precious Jesus
When I come to the crossing of the tide
When I see old Jordans waters deep and wide
That dark river, I’ll not fear, for my Jesus will be near
And it’s so peaceful in the arms of my Lord
Hold me still …
Hold me near …
My loving Savior my precious Jesus
Hold me always in Your arms
Close to Your heart
Close to Your Spirit
Close to Your Word.

Isaiah 43:1-2 Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; YOU ARE MINE. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.

Isaiah 46:4 Even to your old age I am He, and even to hair white with age will I carry you. I have made, and I will bear; yes, I will carry and will save you.

Today, come to the Good Shepherd as a little lamb. Let Him gently lift you up and carry you. Rest there awhile in complete trust and safety.
Be still … held safe in His arms of love, close to His heart.
