Surrounded in darkness?

Worship-Praise & Prayer
Dance upon the ROCK
=> The Son will rise with the light of a new day and a “Way” will be opened before you!!!!

Remember Paul & Silas => Suddenly the prison doors were opened after a time of worship & prayer!

The Lord is the only One
Who gives songs in the night!

.
Acts 16:25-26 NASB … But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; 26 and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened.

Psalm 42:8 NASB … The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime; And His song will be with me in the night, a prayer to the God of my life.

Psalm 32:7,10 AMPC … You are a hiding place for me; You, Lord, preserve me from trouble, You surround me with songs and shouts of deliverance. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! …
… 10 Many are the sorrows of the wicked, but he who trusts in, relies on, and confidently leans on the Lord shall be compassed about with mercy and with loving-kindness.

Strength to Stand

Psalm 61:1-3 AMP
1 Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer.
2 From the end of the earth will I cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and fainting; lead me to the rock that is higher than I [yes, a rock that is too high for me].

2 Samuel 22:33-34 AMP
33 God is my strong Fortress; He guides the blameless in His way and sets him free.
34 He makes my feet like the hinds’ [firm and able]; He sets me secure and confident upon the heights.

From NetBible 2Sam 33-34

  • NET … The one true God is my mighty refuge; He removes the obstacles in my way. He gives me the agility of a deer;   he enables me to negotiate the rugged terrain.
    * in Ps 18:33 it refers to a pathway free of obstacles. The reality underlying the metaphor is the psalmist’s ability to charge into battle without tripping (see vv. 33, 36).
*He sets me secure and confident upon the heights. = “and on my high places he makes me walk.” The imperfect verbal form emphasizes God’s characteristic provision. The psalmist compares his agility in battle to the ability of a deer to negotiate rugged, high terrain without falling or being injured. Habakkuk uses similar language to describe his faith during difficult times. See Hab 3:19.

When your heart is overwhelmed
Remember who your strength is
Remember who helps make a way
Where there appears to be no way.

Remember the hind and
Rely on the Lord to give you strength and
Help you negotiate “rugged terrain” without falling.

Psalm 18:33,36 AMPC
33 He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places.

36 You have given plenty of room for my steps under me, that my feet would not slip.

Habakkuk 3:17-19 AMPC
17 Though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vines, [though] the product of the olive fails and the fields yield no food, though the flock is cut off from the fold and there are no cattle in the stalls, 18 Yet I will rejoice  in the Lord; I will exult in the [victorious] God of my salvation! 19 The Lord God is my Strength, my personal bravery, and my invincible army; He makes my feet like hinds’ feet and will make me to walk [not to stand still in terror, but to walk] and make [spiritual] progress upon my high places [of trouble, suffering, or responsibility]!

Why Downcast, O my Soul?

October 26, 2011

Psalm 42:6 AMP … O my God, my life[soul] is cast down upon me [and I find the burden more than I can bear]; therefore will I [earnestly] remember You from the land of the Jordan [River] and the [summits of Mount] Hermon, from the little mountain Mizar.

What do you do when you find that your soul is downcast? When it seems your life is burdensome – more than you can bear?

Studying this psalm gives an answer and hope. Look what the psalmist does:

I will earnestly remember You

The Lord my Rock(from xref)
From the end of the earth I will cry to You, When my heart is overwhelmed; Lead me to the rock that is higher than I. -Ps 61:2

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe(set safely on high). -Prov 18:10

  • *From NetBible Prov 18:10
“running” to the Lord refers to a whole-hearted and unwavering trust in God’s protection

I will remember and
Run to You with whole-hearted, unwavering trust.
I will run to You the Lord my God, my Savior
My Strong Tower
My everlasting Rock!

Daily I will run to You.

For each day You bear my burdens
AND carry me in Your arms!

Blessed be the Lord, praise God our savior! Day after day He bears our burdens and carries us in His arms. -Ps 68:19

Isaiah 26:4 AMP … So trust in the Lord (commit yourself to Him, lean on Him, hope confidently in Him) forever; for the Lord God is an everlasting Rock [the Rock of Ages]].

Jesus the Lifter of My Head

June 20, 2011

Yesterday there seemed to be many obstacles in the way – blocking the path the Lord has set my feet on.
🙂
I cried out to Him for help. He encouraged me with this song – maybe it will encourage you too.

Psalm 3:1-4 AMP … LORD, HOW they are increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are saying of me, There is no help for him in God.
Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head. With my voice I cry to the Lord, and He hears and answers me out of His holy hill.
Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

I will lift my eyes past the hills
I will lift my eyes past the mountains
And trust in You, Jesus
To lift my head.

My glory, my shield
Jesus the lifter of my head
My glory, my shield
Jesus, I’ll trust in You
To lift my head

Past the hills
Past the mountains
Jesus, I’ll trust in You
To lift my head.

Isaiah 40:3-5 AMP … A voice of one who cries: Prepare in the wilderness the way of the Lord [clear away the obstacles]; make straight and smooth in the desert a highway for our God! Every valley shall be lifted and filled up, and every mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked and uneven shall be made straight and level, and the rough places a plain. And the glory (majesty and splendor) of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it.

Psalm 27:5-6 AMP … In the day of trouble He will hide me in His shelter; in the secret place of His tent will He hide me; He will set me high upon a rock. 6And now shall my head be lifted up above my enemies round about me; in His tent I will offer sacrifices and shouting of joy; I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord.

Psalm 61:2 AMP … From the end of the earth will I cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed and fainting; lead me to the rock that is higher than I [yes, a rock that is too high for me].
