Lavished Grace Upon Grace

February 27, 2020

.
1 John 3:1-3 … Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed{lavished} on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
.
From the song in the previous post the phrases “the riches of His grace” and the word “lavished” were impressed on my heart. This leads to Ephesians 1:7-8.
.
Ephesians 1:7-8 … In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight …

  • From NetBible Eph 1:8
lavish[4052] = to have in abundance, abounding
**”Abounding” is used of a flower going from a bud to full bloom.
    .
  • From NetBible Jn 1:16
From His fullness we have all received, and grace upon grace.
    .

=>grace “on top of” grace, = accumulation
=> probably based on this verse: Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You{reveal, teach} and that I may find grace in Your sight{eyes} Ex 33:13

.

The riches of His grace, grace upon grace is an ongoing process lavished on us in abundance! This causes us to mature and grow more and more like Him; much like the process of a bud growing to a full blooming flower as it receives sunlight!

.
The following prayer takes on deeper meaning!!
.
Philippians 1:9-11 … And this I pray, that your love may abound[4052] still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11 having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

  • From NetBible Phil 1:9
abound[4052] = to have in abundance, abounding, lavish
**”Abounding” is used of a flower going from a bud to full bloom.
    .
  • From NetBible Phil 1:10
sincere[1506] = found pure when unfolded and examined by the sun’s light, tested as genuine, unspotted
*from heile (the sun’s ray) and 2919; judged by sunlight, i.e. tested as genuine (figuratively):-pure, sincere.
  • What a beautiful picture of a sincere pure heart! The heart of one with a “sincere” devotion to the Lord will be found pure when examined and judged by the Son, the light of the world. It will be a heart that has willingly submitted to Lord’s searching and cleansing of the “Son/sun”. A heart the will grow; much like a bud growing to a full blooming flower in the sunlight!

Peace In His Eyes

January 13, 2018

.
Song 8:10 AMP … I was a wall, and my breasts were like the towers. Then I became in the king’s eyes as one [to be respected and allowed] to find peace.
.
Draw near to the King
Beneath His wing –
Ps 91:1
Close enough to gaze into the King’s eyes –
Ps 32:8
His Dove
Beautiful one –
Song 1:15
Pure heart
Steadfast
The apple of His eye –
Ps 17:8
In the King’s eyes

Find perfect peace –
Is 26:3
Contentment
Rest
Favor …

.

.
Isaiah 26:3 AMP … “You[Lord] will keep in perfect and constant peace the one whose mind is steadfast [that is, committed and focused on You—in both inclination and character], because he trusts and takes refuge in You [with hope and confident expectation].
.
Psalm 17:8Keep me [in Your affectionate care, protect me] as the apple of Your eye; Hide me in the [protective] shadow of Your wings
.

Word Study
.
From NetBible Song 8:10

  • * “peace.” An eloquent wordplay is created by the use of the noun שָׁלוֹם (shalom, “peace, contentment, favor”) in 8:10 and the name שְׁלֹמֹה (shÿlomoh, “Solomon” = peace) in 8:11. The Beloved found “favor” (שָׁלוֹם) in the eyes of Solomon (שְׁלֹמֹה). She won his heart because she was not only a beautiful young woman (“my breasts were like fortress towers”), but a virtuous woman (“I was a wall” = chaste).

.
From NetBible Ps 17:8

  • * Keep me as the apple of your eye = Protect me like the pupil, a daughter of your eye.
See Zec 2:8=> The pupil is one of the most vulnerable and valuable parts of the body, so to be considered the “pupil” of the Lord’s eye is to raise value to an incalculable price

Word Study

From NetBible Isa 26:3

  • keep[05341]= guard with fidelity, watch over, protect
  • perfect peace[07965] = complete peace, safety
with God especially in covenant relationship – entering into a relationship of wholeness/ unity
  • steadfast[05564]= to lean, lay, rest upon, to stand fast
  • trust[0982] = to be confident, secure, sure
    to hide for refuge

From NetBible Ps 17:8

  • Keep/protect me as the apple of Your eye
    *From Zech 2:8

    • the apple (pupil) of the eye[0892] = gate
The pupil is one of the most vulnerable and valuable parts of the body, so for Judah to be considered the “pupil” of the Lord’s eye is to raise her value to an incalculable price (cf. NLT “my most precious possession”).

From NetBible Song 1:15, 5:12, 4:1

  • eyes like doves
    * The comparison has to do with gentleness and purity, as well as longing and simplicity

    * like doves[03123]
(apparently from the warmth of their mating – like the warmth/effervesce from wine)* this may be a comparison of sense, usually suggesting that the dove is a symbol for purity and that the eyes of a person are the windows of their soul or character, that is, the bride has a pure character as can be seen through her eyes.

From NetBible Mt 6:22
If you eye is single

  • single[573]= sound, whole, clear, pure, true

your whole body will be full of light.

  • full of light[5460] = of a bright character, lustrous
*full of truth and its knowledge, together with the spiritual purity associated with it

From NetBible Ps 123:1

To You I lift up my eyes

  • lift up[05375] = marry, desire, long for

From NetBible Ps 86:11

give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name.

  • undivided heart[03161] = heart joined, united, married
    to fear the Lord’s name
  • fear[03372] = to stand in awe of, reverence, honour, respect
