Equipped With Joy

September 19, 2014

Psalm 30:2, 9-12 AMP
2 O Lord my God, I cried to You and You have healed me.

9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit (the grave)? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth and faithfulness to men?
10 Hear, O Lord, have mercy and be gracious to me! O Lord, be my helper!
11 You have turned my mourning into dancing for me; You have put off my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
12 To the end that my tongue and my heart and everything glorious within me may sing praise to You and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

From NetBible Ps 30:11

  • girded me with gladness = clothed me with joy
  • clothed-‘azar[0247] = girded(metaphorical of strength), encompassed, equipped
  • joy-simchah[08057] = joy, mirth, gladness, joy (of God)
*The root denotes being glad or joyful with the whole disposition, the whole heart [08056] [08055]

Oak

Isaiah 61:1-3, 10-11 AMP
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed and qualified me to preach the Gospel of good tidings to the meek, the poor, and afflicted; He has sent me to bind up and heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the [physical and spiritual] captives and the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound,
2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord [the year of His favor] and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
3 To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion—to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit—that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

10 I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul will exult in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.
11 For as [surely as] the earth brings forth its shoots, and as a garden causes what is sown in it to spring forth, so [surely] the Lord God will cause rightness and justice and praise to spring forth before all the nations [through the self-fulfilling power of His word].

The Lord has girded His ‘oaks of righteousness’ with gladness
They are equipped with His joy, His strength Neh 8:10
Clothed with joy as with a garment which surrounds,
encompassing on every side. –Ps 30:11

==> To set captives free, that the Lord may be glorified

==> these oaks are a praise on display before the nations
==> an everlasting sign Ps 92:15;Isa 55:12-13
Of the Lord’s faithfulness

He is our Rock!

Psalm 92:12-15 AMP
12 The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible].
13 Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 [Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment].
15 [They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

From NetBible Ps 92:12-15

  • flourish[ 06524] = to break forth as a bud, i.e. bloom; generally, to spread; specifically, to fly (as extending the wings); figuratively, to blossom, break forth (out), bud, flourish, make fly, grow,
    spread, spring (up).
  • full of sap[01879] = filled with vitality
    *from [01878] = anointed, fat
  • rich in verdue[07488]= fresh, green, flourishing

Psalm 92:10 AMP
10 But my horn (emblem of excessive strength and stately grace) You have exalted like that of a wild ox; I am anointed with fresh oil.

Be anointed with fresh oil, the oil of joy

Beauty for Ashes

September 12, 2013

Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. -Ps42:11

This I recall, therefore I have hope

This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’S mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, To the soul who seeks Him. -Lam3:21-25

The Lord’s mercies are fresh, new every morning
Because of the Lord’s mercies I am not consumed!
Yet will I praise Him-
Jesus, my Savior, my God, my exceeding joy!
-Ps43

Beauty for ashes
The oil of joy for mourning
The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness …

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, My soul shall be joyful in my God! -Is61:1-3,10-11

Isaiah 49:14-16But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me,
the Lord has forgotten me.”
15 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has borne?
Though she may forget,
I will not forget you!
16 See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are ever before me.

Don’t be afraid
For I have redeemed you

[ransomed you by paying a price instead of leaving you captives]
I have called you by name
You are Mine.
-Is43
I will make a way where there is no way -Is43:16
I will turn things around
Beauty will arise from your ashes
Joy will come in the morning
-Ps30
You will shine!
Arise!

Arise [from the depression and prostration in which circumstances have kept you—rise to a new life]! Shine (be radiant with the glory of the Lord), for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you! -Is60:1

Arise, my dove, my beautiful one and come away with Me! -Song 2:10

Broken Hearts and Shining Stars

May 21, 2011

Philippians 2:15-16 AMPC … show yourselves to be blameless and guiltless, innocent and uncontaminated, children of God without blemish (faultless, unrebukable) in the midst of a crooked and wicked generation [spiritually perverted and perverse], among whom you are seen as bright lights (stars or beacons shining out clearly) in the [dark] world, holding out [to it] and offering [to all men] the Word of Life, so that in the day of Christ I may have something of which exultantly to rejoice and glory in that I did not run my race in vain or spend my labor to no purpose.

Bright shining stars, holding forth the word of life
Oaks of righteousness stand anointed

Their leaves are for the healing of the nations -Rev 22:1-2;Ez 47:12
Like hands offering life
To bind up and heal the brokenhearted
To comfort all who mourn
To bestow a crown of beauty instead of ashes
… the oil of joy instead of mourning
… a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
Isa 61 AMP

Psalm 34:18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 147:3-5 He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite.

Oaks of righteousness stand anointed
Bright shining stars established/planted by the Lord’s hand
Broken hearts healed
Shining before the nations declaring His praise.

Isaiah 61:10-11 MSG … I will sing for joy in God, explode in praise from deep in my soul! He dressed me up in a suit of salvation, He outfitted me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom who puts on a tuxedo and a bride a jeweled tiara. For as the earth bursts with spring wildflowers, and as a garden cascades with blossoms, so the Master, God, brings righteousness into full bloom and puts praise on display before the nations.

Healing Leaves

May 16, 2011

Revelation 22:1-2 … Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

Ezekiel 47:12Fruit trees of all kinds will grow on both banks of the river. Their leaves will not wither, nor will their fruit fail. Every month they will bear, because the water from the sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will serve for food and their leaves for healing.

Open your leaves
Be anointed with fresh oil -Ps 92:10
The leaves are for the healing of the nations. -Rev 22:1-2;Ez 47:12

Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations as Your inheritance, and the
uttermost parts of the earth as Your possession. -Ps 2:8

As the trees stand
By the river of the water of life which flows from the throne
They are nourished by God.
The living water is absorbed by the roots of the trees -Jer 17:8;Ps 1:3
The roots pass the living water along
Thru the trunk to the leaves
The leaves take the water and transform it into life{photosynthesis}.
The water mixes with the warmth of the sun
To provide food and nourishment for the tree and the world.
The leaves provide food for the tree and the world.
The leaves also provide oxygen necessary for life.
The leavesprovide healing for the nations. The leaves are key for the transformation of living water into nourishment and healing.

The leaves on the trees are like hands holding forth the word of life{fruit that remains}!

Sunrise

Sunrise
Nichole Nordeman

If I had the chance
To go back again
Take a different road, bear a lighter load
Tell an easy story

I would walk away
With my yesterdays
And I would not trade what is broken for beauty only

Every valley
Every bitter chill
Made me ready to climb back up the hill
And find that . . .

You are sunrise
You are blue skies
How would I know the morning
If I knew not midnight?

You’re my horizon
You’re the light of a new dawn
So thank You, thank You
That after the long night, You are sunrise

There’s a moment when
Faith caves in
There’s a time when every soul is certain God is gone

But every shadow is evidence of sun
And every tomorrow holds out hope for us
For every one of us

You are sunrise
You are blue skies
How would I know the morning
If I knew not midnight?

You’re my horizon
You’re the light of a new dawn
So thank You, thank You
That after the long night, You are sunrise

You alone will shine
You alone can resurrect this heart of mine

You are sunrise
You are blue skies
How would I know the morning
If I knew not midnight?

You’re my horizon
You’re the light of a new dawn
So thank You, thank You
That after the long night, You are sunrise

You are sunrise

That song really brings out the idea of
beauty for ashes — eternal life for death …

and on that day when the sun rises for the last time
never to set again,
all that will remain …
everlasting light …
beauty for ashes …

sun & shield
grace and glory!

Song 4:6 Until the day breaks and the shadows flee, I will go to the mountain of myrrh and to the hill of frankincense.

Song 2:8-9,17 Listen! The voice of my beloved! Behold, he comes Leaping upon the mountains, Skipping upon the hills. My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Behold, he stands behind our wall; He is looking through the windows, Gazing through the lattice. … Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.

Psalm 21:13 Be exalted{Rise Up}[07311], O LORD, in Your own strength! We will sing[07891] and praise[02167] Your power.

Isaiah 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord{the sovereign master}[0136] sitting on a throne, high[07311] and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.

Exodus 15:2 The LORD is my strength and song[02176], And He has become my salvation; He is my God, and I will praise Him{prepare Him a habitation}[05115]; My father’s God, and I will exalt[07311] Him.

Isaiah 12:2-3 Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song[02176]; He also has become my salvation. Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.

to be high, be set on high, lifted

From Netbible Ps 21:13

Rise Up, O LORD!
The Train of His Robe

The Train of His Robe

May 28, 2009

Isaiah 6:1      In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord{the sovereign master} sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.

The Lord sitting on the throne, high and lifted up
The Sovereign Master
The Sovereign King
Seated on the throne high above all.

How could the train of His robe literally fill the temple? This would take quite a bit of material …

  • When Isaiah wrote this book the length of the train on a person’s robe was a symbol of that person’s status. So to say that the train of the robe was so big that it filled the temple, establishes that the status of God as immense. This figure of speech signifies the majesty of our God. Also consider the strength needed to wear and carry such a robe. The train of the King’s robe filling the temple shows His greatness, majesty and strength!
  • Notice it’s the train of the robe that fills the temple. The train is the very edge of God’s garment, the humblest, least noble part of His clothing. This edge itself was so glorious that it fills the temple. How much more glorious is the Lord our King?
  • And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment. For she said to herself, “If only I may touch His garment, I shall be made well.”
    -Mt 9:20-21

From: Mt 9:20 Netbible    The edge of his cloak refers to the kraspedon, the blue tassel on the garment that symbolized a Jewish man’s obedience to the law (cf. Num 15:37-41). The woman thus touched the very part of Jesus’ clothing that indicated his ritual purity.

The train of the King’s robe filled the temple. The woman touched the train of His robe and the temple which was her body was filled with His glory making her whole.
