Hope and Confidence in the Lord!

March 16, 2020

Jeremiah 17:7-8 Blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.

From NetBible Job 11:18
You will have courage{be secure, have confident trust } because you will have hope. You will be protected and will rest in safety.

  • secure[0982] = to trust, have confidence, feel safe
  • hope[08615] = confidence, expectation
  • protected[02658] = to dig, search for
  • safety[0983] = security, peacefully, without care

From Godtube Job 11:18

  • Wesley
Secure – Your mind shall be quiet and free from terrors, because you have a firm and well – grounded confidence in God
    .
  • Clarke
Yea, thou shalt dig – I believe this neither refers to digging his grave, nor to curiously investigating surrounding circumstances; but to the custom of digging for water in the places where they pitched their tents.

.
From BibleHub Job 11:18

  • *Benson Commentary
Job 11:18-19: *Thou shalt be secure, because there is hope — Thy mind shall be quiet and free from terrors, because thou shalt have a firm and well-grounded confidence in God. Thou shalt dig — Either to fix thy tents, which, after the manner of the Arabians, were removed from place to place; or, to plough thy ground, as he had done, Job 1:14, or to make a fence about thy dwelling
*Thou shalt take thy rest in safety — Free from dangers and the fear of them; because of God’s fatherly providence watching over thee, when thou canst not watch over thyself. And none shall make thee afraid — Thou shalt be in perfect peace, and none shall disquiet thee; yea, many shall make suit unto thee — Desiring thy favour and friendship, because of thy great power and riches, and eminent felicity.

Trees Planted by the Water

November 12, 2014

The trees firmly planted and tended by the water. They delight in meditating and obeying the instructions of the Lord. Their roots are deep. Their leaves are green. They grow to maturity bearing fruit in season, even in their old age …
 …
They are living signs of the Lord’s faithfulness!
 .
Signs because they DRINK
… from the streams of living water –Jn 4:10,7:38;Ps 36:9
… from the Jesus the living word. –Jn1:1-3;He4:12

Psalm 1:1-3 AMPC
1 Blessed (happy, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather.
2 But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night.
3 And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity].

Jeremiah 17:7-8 AMPC
7 [Most] blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is.
8 For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.

Psalm 92:13-15 AMPC
13 Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 [Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment].
15 [They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Like a Tree

Jeremiah 17:7-8    Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is the LORD. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. Proverbs 10:25    When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever.

Psalm 125:1-2   Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.

Job 11:13-19    Yet if you devote your heart to Him and stretch out your hands to Him, if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear. You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor.
