Proverbs 2:1-5 … Child, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, 2 So that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; 3 Yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, 4 If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.

.
Incline and bow your ear to wisdom
Apply your heart to understanding
Searching as hidden treasure
… Then you will understand
The fear of the Lord and
find the knowledge of God.
.
=>Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God – more precious than silver!
–1Cor 1:24;Pro 2:1-5; 3:13-15
.
1 Corinthians 1:24 … but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
.
Proverbs 3:13-15 … Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding. For her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, And her gain better than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies{jewels}; nothing you desire can compare with her.

Blessed Unity of the People of God
A Song of Ascents. Of David.
1 Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious oil upon the head, running down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, running down on the edge of his garments.
3 It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the Lord commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.
.
Dwelling in unity as the people of God
In one accord –Acts 2:1-3,46-47
The precious oil “runs down” from the head
Down Aaron’s beard{The high priest}
Down the rest of the body
Down off the edge of his garments.
=> a testimony of the Lord’s commanded blessing=eternal life through Jesus Christ!
.
So how do you get this oil to run down covering the body of Christ creating a testimony that goes out and adds to the body?
.
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and singleness of heart, 47 praising God and having favor{grace} with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. –Acts 2:46-47

Mary’s “One Thing”
January 2, 2020Luke 10:40-42 … But Martha was distracted with all her preparations; and she came up to Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to help me.” 41 But the Lord answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered about so many things; 42 but only one thing is necessary, for Mary has chosen the best/good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

One thing is necessary

Seeking the LORD’s Face
March 20, 20141 Chronicles 16:11 AMP … Seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!
What keeps us from seeking the Lord?
PRIDE is one big thing …
Psalm 10:4 AMP … The wicked one in the pride of his countenance will not seek, inquire for, and yearn for God; all his thoughts are that there is no God [so He never punishes].
From NetBible Ps 10:4
- *pride of his countenance = according to the height of his nose: refers to an arrogant or snooty attitude; it likely pictures one with his nose turned upward toward the sky in pride.
- * the wicked … thinks, “God won’t hold me accountable; he doesn’t care”.(NET)
- *the wicked … in all his thoughts there is no room for God.(NIV)
The heart determines how much the Lord is sought. Is the Lord and His presence a vital need?
Psalm 27:8 AMP … You have said, Seek My face [inquire for and require My presence as your vital need]. My heart says to You, Your face (Your presence), Lord, will I seek, inquire for, and require [of necessity and on the authority of Your Word].
Jeremiah 29:13 AMP … You will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
Faith is required to seek and please the Lord.
Hebrews 11:6 AMP … But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].
.
Praise You Lord Jesus, You reward those who diligently seek You. Stir our hearts to yearn for Your presence as a vital need. Thank You that as we seek You with our whole hearts, we will find You! |
