Shine bright the light of Christ!
A city on a hill cannot be hidden. –Mt 5:14

Hebrews 12:25-29 AMP … See to it that you do not refuse [to listen to] Him who is speaking [to you now]. For if those [sons of Israel] did not escape when they refused [to listen to] him who warned them on earth [revealing God’s will], how much less will we escape if we turn our backs on Him who warns from heaven? 26 His voice shook the earth [at Mount Sinai] then, but now He has given a promise, saying, “Yet once more I will shake not only the earth, but also the [starry] heaven.” 27 Now this [expression], “Yet once more,” indicates the removal and final transformation of all those things which can be shaken—that is, of that which has been created—so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.
28 Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, and offer to God pleasing service and acceptable worship with reverence and awe; 29 for our God is [indeed] a consuming fire.

Mark 13:31 AMP … Heaven and earth [as now known] will pass away, but My[Jesus] words will not pass away!

The Armor of Light

June 3, 2017

But since we belong to the day{ live in the light}, let us be self-controlled{sober}, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. –1Thess 5:8

To be sober and stand firm against the enemy –1Pe 5:8
Gird your loins with truth{ready for service} and –
Lk 12:35
Put on the breastplate of righteousness –
Eph 6:14
Put on the breastplate of faith and love and
… the hope of salvation as a helmet –
1Thess 5:8;Eph 6:17
To protect your heart. –He 4:12

Being sober and alert is of no avail unless armed by faith, hope, love and truth! Put on the armor of light! Put on the Lord Jesus Christ! –Ro 13:12-14

1 Thessalonians 1:3 AMPC … Recalling unceasingly before our God and Father your work energized by faith and service motivated by love and unwavering hope in [the return of] our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

From NetBible 1Thess 1:3

  • * These phrases denote Christian virtues in action: the work produced by faith, labor motivated by love, and endurance that stems from hope in Christ.

Colossians 1:5 NET … Your faith and love have arisen because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel.

His Word Burns Like a Fire

August 15, 2016

Jeremiah 20:9 AMPC … If I say, I will not make mention of [the Lord] or speak any more in His name, in my mind and heart it is as if there were a burning fire shut up in my bones. And I am weary of enduring and holding it in; I cannot [contain it any longer].

From NetBible Jer 20:9

  • NIV … But if I say, “I will not mention him or speak any more in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.

A song:
Consuming fire, consuming fire
Down in my soul, down in my soul
His word like a fire
His word like a fire
Down in my soul, down in my soul
Can’t be contained …

His Word Burns

His word burns like a fire
His law, His instructions
On His peoples hearts and in their minds
His word burns and can not be shut up!

Hebrews 8:10 NKJV … For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws(instructions) in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

Luke 24:32 NIV … They asked each other, “Were not our hearts(soul/mind) burning within us while He talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?“

His word burns like a fire as He opens Scripture in your heart and mind.

Do not be afraid to speak what the Lord shows you!

Gird up your loins, arise and stand up; Speak to them all which I command you. Do not be dismayed(terrified) before them, or I will dismay(terrify) you before them. –Jeremiah 1:17

Eph 6:17
Without the sword there is NO protection
Against the terrors of the night –
Song 3:8

God’s word is a lamp unto your feet –Ps 119:105
Revealing the path of life! –Pro 10:17

From Keep Your Lamps Burning

A lamp in ancient times was a vessel with oil and a wick carried in the hand to light the path to walk on.

  • The picture here is that as we walk, our hand (which speaks of our works) needs to hold up (apply/do) the lamp (which is the Word) ==> then our lamps will be lit and burning and our eyes will see the “straight” path {path leading to life} before us!

Ephesians 6:10-17 AMPC … 10 In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. 11 Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. 12 For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere. 13 Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. 14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of {righteousness}integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God, 15 And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. 16 Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. 17 And take the helmet of salvation and the sword that the Spirit wields, which is the Word of God.

Psalm 91:4 NLT … He will shield you with His wings. He will shelter you with His feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection{your protective wall}.

Keep Your Lamps Burning

August 31, 2014

Psalm 119:105 AMP
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Luke 11:34-35 NASB
34 The eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is clear, your whole body also is full of light; but when it is bad, your body also is full of darkness.

From NetBible Lk 11:34
NLT … Your eye is a lamp for your body. A pure eye lets sunshine into your soul. But an evil eye shuts out the light and plunges you into darkness.

  • lamp[3088] = an eye, like a lamp shows the body which way to turn
  • clear[573] = single(in union, fixed on Christ), whole/sound/healthy(fulfilling it’s office)
  • bad[4190] = diseased, blind, evil

35 Then watch out that the light in you is not darkness.

From NetBible Lk 11:35

  • * This is a present imperative, calling for a constant watch – keep your lamps burning

From my previous posts both the word and the eye are lamps.

  •  the spiritual person with the single eye(connected to Christ’s Spirit)
uses God’s word as a lamp to light his path and so walks a straight path
  • the spiritually blind person doesn’t use God’s word and Spirit to judge(they may not even know they are blind) and so walks a crooked path ==> they have no lamp or light

A lamp in ancient times was a vessel with oil and a wick carried in the hand to light the path to walk on.

  • The picture here is that as we walk, our hand (which speaks of our works) needs to hold up (apply/do) the lamp (which is the Word)
==> then our lamps will be lit and burning and our eyes will see the “straight” path before us!

Luke 12:35-36 AMP
35 Keep your loins girded and your lamps burning,
36 And be like men who are waiting for their master to return home from the marriage feast, so that when he returns from the wedding and comes and knocks, they may open to him immediately.

Ephesians 6:14 AMP
14 Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God …

The Eye = The Lamp
Making Crooked Paths Straight!
