The Merciful Lord does not Forget!

April 25, 2017

Blue Letter Daily Promise
(For the LORD thy God [is] a merciful God;) He will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which He sware unto them. (Deuteronomy 4:31)

Reflection
God in His mercy has promised that He will always be with His children of faith. He remembers His promises and will never break them! What an awesome God we serve!

Psalm 111:4 NASB … He has made His wonders to be remembered; The Lord is gracious and compassionate.

Lamentations 3:21-24 AMPC
21 But this I recall and therefore have I hope and expectation:

NLT … Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this:

22 It is because of the Lord’s mercy and loving-kindness that we are not consumed, because His [tender] compassions fail not.

The LORD’S loving kindnesses{mercies} indeed never cease{we are kept from complete destruction – not consumed}, For His compassions never fail.

23 They are new every morning; great and abundant is Your stability and faithfulness.

Great is his faithfulness; His mercies begin{are created} afresh each day.

24 The Lord is my portion or share, says my living being (my inner self); therefore will I hope in Him and wait expectantly for Him.

A Song:
Mercies new
Mercies new
Sweet as honey –Ps 19:10,119:103
Taste afresh and see –Ps 19:8,34:8;1Sa 14:29
Life renewed –Ps 103:1-5
Mercies new
By His faithfulness
We are not consumed.

Psalm 103:17 AMPC … The mercy and lovingkindness of the Lord are from everlasting to everlasting upon those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him.

A Prayer:
Be merciful and gracious to me, O LORD, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter and confidence in You; in the shadow of Your wings I will take refuge and confidently trust. –Ps 57:1

Gracious – Righteous – Compassionate = The Lord!

April 3, 2016

Psalm116_5
Image from 365promises

Psalm 116:5 AMP … Gracious is the Lord, and [consistently] righteous; Yes, our God is compassionate{full of mercy}.

Call upon the Lord in faith –He 11:6
Use the faith you have{mustard seed} –Lk 17:6

Believe He will answer
On the basis of His nature/name.

The Lord is gracious –Ps 86:5,15
The Lord is righteous –Ps 119:137,145:17;Jer 12:1
The Lord is compassionate{full of mercy}.

Exodus 34:6-9 NASB … Then the Lord passed by in front of him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth. 7 who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on the children and on the grandchildren to the third and fourth generations.” 8 Moses made haste to bow low toward the earth and worship. 9 He said, “If now I have found favor in Your sight, O Lord, I pray, let the Lord go along in our midst, even though the people are so obstinate, and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your own possession.”

Hebrews 4:16 NASB … Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

From Godvine
Barnes’ Notes on Psalms 116:5
.
Gracious is the Lord – This fact was his encouragement when he called on God. He believed that God was a gracious Being, and he found him to be so. Compare the notes at Hebrews 11:6.
.
And righteous … – Just; true; faithful. This, too, is a proper foundation of appeal to God: not that we are righteous, and have a claim to his favor, but that he is a Being who will do what is right; that is, what is best to be done in the case. If he were an unjust Being; if he were one on whose stability of character, and whose regard for right, no reliance could be placed, we could never approach him with confidence or hope. In this sense we may rely on his justice – his justness of character – as a ground of hope. Compare the notes at 1 John 1:9 : “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.”

Proclaim the Name of the LORD

May 13, 2010

Exodus 33:18-19 Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!”
19Then He said, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion{show mercy} on whom I will have compassion{show mercy}.”

Exodus 34:5-7 Now the LORD descended in the cloud and stood with him{Moses} there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. 6nd the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, “The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, 7keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty , visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.

These are the LORD’s response to the cry ‘show me Your glory’! To ‘see’ His glory is to ‘see’ His great mercy, His justice, His goodness and His truth!

Proclaiming His mercy, grace, longsuffering {slow to anger}, justice, goodness, truth and forgiveness are part of proclaiming His name.

Psalm 86:15-17 You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth. 16Oh, turn to me, and have mercy on me! Give Your strength to Your servant, And save the son of Your maidservant{save me, for I am your servant}. 17Show me a sign for good{a sign of Your goodness}, That those who hate me may see it and be ashamed, Because You, LORD, have helped me and comforted me.
