He Has Made Me Glad

March 9, 2014

Psalm 118:15, 19-21, 24 NETThe voice of rejoicing and salvation{deliverance} is in the tents{tabernacles} of the righteous; The right hand of the LORD does valiantly. … Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will enter through them, and give thanks to the LORD. This is the gate of the LORD through which the righteous may enter.  I will give thanks to You, for You have answered me, And You have become my salvation{deliverer}.  … This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.

He Has Made Me Glad Lyrics

I will enter his gates with
Thanksgiving in my heart
I will enter his courts with praise
I will say this is the day that the
Lord has made
I will rejoice for he has made me glad

He has made me glad
He has made me glad
I will rejoice for he has
Made me glad, glad, glad
He has made me glad
He has made me glad
I will rejoice for he has
Made me glad

Psalm 100 AMP

A Psalm of thanksgiving and for the thank offering.

1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands!

2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come before His presence with singing!

3 Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless andaffectionately praise His name!

5 For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.
.

Psalm 68:3-4 AMP But let the [uncompromisingly] righteous be glad; let them be in high spirits and glory before God, yes, let them [jubilantly] rejoice!

4 Sing to God, sing praises to His name, cast up a highway for{extol} Him Who rides through the deserts—His name is the Lord—be in high spirits and glory before Him!

From NetBible Ps 68:4

  • extol[05549] = lift up a song, cast up a highway/way

Singing praises, rejoicing and extolling the Lord – is like casting up a highway – inviting Him in. This is a good thing to do especially in the desert — for it’s only the Lord’s presence that brings rain into your desert.

Psalm 68:8-9 AMP The earth trembled, the heavens also poured down [rain] at the presence of God; yonder Sinai quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.

9 You, O God, did send a plentiful rain; You did restore and confirm Your heritage when it languished and was weary.

Psalm 100 – Seven Commands of Thanksgiving

November 17, 2012

Psalm 100 AMP
A Psalm of thanksgiving and for the thank offering.

1 MAKE A joyful noise to the Lord, all you lands!

2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come before His presence with singing!

3 Know (perceive, recognize, and understand with approval) that the Lord is God! It is He Who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His]! We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and a thank offering and into His courts with praise! Be thankful and say so to Him, bless and affectionately praise His name!

5 For the Lord is good; His mercy and loving-kindness are everlasting, His faithfulness and truth endure to all generations.

Look at the subtitle of this psalm, I never realized before that psalm 100, a psalm of thanksgiving was “for the thank offering”. Look at the above psalm, it’s interesting that it contains seven ways to praise and that these ways to praise are also commands: seven commands of thanksgiving!

Do you want to say thank you to the Lord Jesus Christ?
Seven Commands of Thanksgiving:

  1. Make a joyful noise{with the voice of triumph} to the Lord
  2. Serve the Lord with gladness{with exceeding joy, glee}
  3. Come before His presence with{joyful triumphant} singing
  4. Enter His gates with thanksgiving{a thank offering, a sacrifice of praise, adoration}
  5. Enter into His courts with praise{associated with singing a new song}
  6. Be thankful to Him{with all you heart}
  7. Bless and affectionately praise His name{as if kneeling to your King}

.

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. -Heb 13:15

A Thank Offering

March 26, 2009

Jonah 2:7-10    “When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the LORD; And my prayer went up to You, into Your holy temple.
8 “ Those who regard worthless idols forsake their own Mercy.
9 But I will sacrifice to You with the voice of *thanksgiving;
I will pay what I have vowed. Salvation{Deliverance, Victory} is of the LORD.”

10 So the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

After Jonah prayed and offered a sacrifice with the voice of thanksgiving to the Lord, he was freed from the belly of the whale. What does it mean to offer a sacrifice with the voice of thanksgiving?

From:    http://net.bible.org/verse.php?book=Jon&chapter=2&verse=9

tn Heb “voice/sound of thanksgiving.” The genitive תּוֹדָה (todah, “thanksgiving”) specifies the kind of public statement that will accompany the sacrifice. The construct noun קוֹל (qol, “voice, sound”) functions as a metonymy of cause for effect, referring to the content of what the voice/sound produces: hymns of praise or declarative praise testimony.

***

*thanksgiving – towdah [08426]

1) confession, praise, thanksgiving
1a) give praise to God
1b) thanksgiving in songs of liturgical worship, hymn of praise
1c) thanksgiving choir or procession or line or company
1d) thank-offering, sacrifice of thanksgiving
1e) confession

     from 3034; properly, an extension of the hand, i.e. (by
implication) avowal, or (usually) adoration; specifically, a
choir of worshippers:-confession, (sacrifice of) praise,
thanks(-giving, offering).

A sacrifice offered to the Lord with a voice of thanksgiving, a thank offering includes giving thanks, hymns of praise, declarative praise testimony … making a joyful sound to the Lord!

So if you find yourself in the belly of a whale today, why not pray and surrender all to the Lord? Cease striving and offer up a sacrifice unto the Lord with the voice/sound of thanksgiving. Salvation, deliverance and victory is of the LORD!

Psalm 95:2 AMP   Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!

Let’s come before His presence{meet His face} with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise{melody} to Him with with songs of praise{celebration}!
