Psalm 42:1-5 NKJV
1 As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? 3 My tears have been my food day and night, While they continually say to me, “Where is your God?” 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul within me. For I used to go with the multitude; I went with them to the house of God, With the voice of joy and praise, With a multitude that kept a pilgrim feast. 5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance.

What do you long for? How vital is the Lord’s presence to you individually /corporately?

What would happen if Jesus appeared in a visible tangible way, in your midst, during your gatherings. What impact would His presence have?

Without His presence isn’t singing is just singing, preaching and teaching mere words, and everything else just another meeting?

Take another look at the above scripture. David had a passion in his heart for the presence of the living God. He compared this passion to a deer panting for water brooks. Think about this for a moment.

The deer needs the water to have life. The deer also needs to continually return to the water brook to drink. One drink is not enough to sustain life. The deer’s very life depends upon it’s ability to continually drink.

*

Also look at where David places all of his hope(v5) => in the help of the Lord’s countenance. Isn’t this another way of saying all of his hope was in the saving acts of the Lord’s tangible presence /intervention?

Check your heart today – where is your passion? How hard are you seeking the Lord’s tangible presence /intervention? Individually /corporately? How much of your hope is placed in the Lord’s tangible presence /intervention?

Deuteronomy 4:29 AMP
29 But if from there you will seek (inquire for and require as necessity) the Lord your God, you will find Him if you [truly] seek Him with all your heart [and mind] and soul and life.

2 Chronicles 16:9 NIV
9 For the eyes of the LORD range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him. …

As the Deer

May 1, 2010

Psalm 42:1-4 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long, “Where is your God?” These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.

As The Deer

As the deer pants for the water
So my soul longs after you
You alone are my hearts desire
And I long to worship you

You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my hearts desire
And I long to worship you

I want You more than gold or silver
Only You can satisfy
You alone are the real joy-giver
And the apple of my eye

Psalm 63:1-5 O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

There is a ‘place’ of worship held in the LORDs hands
Where only the Lamb can lead

Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; He will lead them to springs of living water.

The center of the throne, from where the springs of living water flow.

Come follow the Lamb wherever He leads
Taste and see -Ps 34:8
With joy draw water from the well  -Isa 12:2-3
Living water from the river of delight.  -Ps 36:7-9

Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good.
His love endures forever. -Ps 136:1

Worship in Spirit and in Truth
Follow hard
From His hands, in His time
Taste and see
Take the free gift of the water of life.

Revelation 22:1-2, 17 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.

A picture of the Bride of Christ

Song 8:14 AMP [Joyfully the radiant bride turned to him, the one altogether lovely, the chief among ten thousand to her soul, and with unconcealed eagerness to begin her life of sweet companionship with him, she answered] Make haste, my beloved, and come quickly, like a gazelle or a young hart [and take me to our waiting home] upon the mountains of spices!

A Love Song: His Love – Better than Life
Refresh Your Soul

As the Deer

January 30, 2009

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth — For your love is better than wine. Because of the fragrance of your good ointments, Your name is ointment poured forth; Therefore the virgins love you. Draw me after you and let us run together! The king has brought me into his chambers.” “We will rejoice in you and be glad; We will extol your love more than wine. The upright love you.”–Song 1:2-4

From http://net.bible.org/verse.php?book=Sos&chapter=1&verse=4

Quote:
*The verb (mashakh, “draw”) is a figurative expression
(hypocatastasis) which draws an implied comparison between the physical acting of leading a person with the romantic action of leading a person in love. Elsewhere it is used figuratively of a master gently leading an animal with leather cords (Hos 11:4) and of a military victor leading his captives (Jer 31:3). The point of comparison might be that the woman wants to be the willing captive of the love of her beloved, that is, a willing prisoner of his love.

The heart cry of an awakened heart desparately longing to be drawn away by her beloved in His cords of love.

[Joyfully the radiant bride turned to him, the one altogether lovely, the chief among ten thousand to her soul, and with unconcealed eagerness to begin her life of sweet companionship with him, she answered] Make haste, my beloved, and come quickly, like a gazelle or a young hart [and take me to our waiting home] upon the mountains of spices! –Song 8:14 AMP

Establish your hearts on the Rock –Ja 5:8
For the coming of the Lord draws nigh.
Surrender in complete abandonment
Fervently sing in the shadow of His wings
Rejoice and be glad
Set the Lord always before
Follow hard
Upheld in His presence taste fullness of joy
Drink deeply of His love
Let Him flood your dry ground –Ps 44:3
The path of life made known

At His right hand are pleasures forevermore. –Ps 16:11

.

My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD;
My heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.
Better is one day in your courts than 1000 elsewhere! –Ps 84:2,10

As the deer pants for the streams of living water
So my soul pants for you, O God. –Ps 42:1

My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast.
I will sing and make melody.
Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. –Ps 57:7-8

Heart Cry

January 29, 2009

Psalm 42:1   As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.

What is the cry of your heart? How earnestly are you seeking the Lord? Does your soul thirst for Him as the deer pants for the living water in a dry and weary land?

I have loved you with an everlasting love;
… I have drawn you with loving-kindness. –Jer 31:3

Taste His love, a love better, more delightful than wine. Be drawn by His love better than life.

May he kiss me with the kisses of his mouth! For your love is better than wine. Pleasing is the fragrance of your perfumes; your name is like perfume poured out. Therefore the virgins love you. Draw me away! Let us run together! Let the king bring me into his chambers. We rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. How right they are to adore you! –Song 1:2-4

Taste and see, you will be swept away, caught up in His love, you will sing His praise. Your heart cry “Make haste, my beloved, come quickly to me”.

Taste and see that the LORD is good. Oh, the joys of those who trust in Him! -Ps 34:8

Behold, He is standing behind our wall,

Make haste, my beloved!
Be like a gazelle or a young stag on the mountains of spices. –song 8:14

“Yes, I am coming quickly “
