The Lord Bestows Grace

July 10, 2013

Psalm 84:11 NASB … For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives[bestows] grace[02580] and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly[08549].

Who does the Lord bestow grace on?

  • Those who walk uprightly – who repent, seek the Lord and turn from sin
    • But Noah found grace[02580] in the eyes of the LORD. These are the records of the generations of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless{upright[08549] } in his time; Noah walked with God. -Gen6:8-9
    • He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly[08537] -Prov2:7
    • But let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in you. For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor[07522] as with a shield. -Ps5:11-12
    • Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come upon us, yet we have not sought the favor[02470] of the LORD our God by turning from our sins and giving attention{understanding} to Your truth. -Dan 9:13 NIV
  • The humble
    • He mocks proud mockers but gives grace[02580] to the humble. -Pro3:34 NIV
    • Does the LORD take delight{favors[07521]} in thousands of rams, In ten thousand rivers of oil? Shall I present my firstborn for my rebellious acts, The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? -Mc6:7-8
  • Those who fear and seek the Lord
    • The Lord favors[07521] those who fear Him, those who wait for{hope in/expect} His lovingkindness{mercy}. -Ps147:11 NASB
    • Fear the LORD, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the LORD lack no good thing. -Ps34:9-10
  • Those who keep the Lord’s mercy and truth in their actions and hearts
    • Do not let truth and mercy leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will find favor[02580] and good [and] understanding, in the sight of God and people. –Prov 3:3-4 NET
    • Good understanding produces favor[02580], but the way of the treacherous{deceitful/unfaithful} is hard. -Prov13:15 NASB
  • Those who know the joyful sound and walk in the light of His face{favor/beauty}
    • Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance{favor}.  … For You are the glory of their strength, And by Your favors[07522] our horn is exalted. -Ps89:15,17
    • Hannah said, Let your handmaid find grace[02580] in your sight. So [she] went her way and ate, her countenance no longer sad. -1Sam1:18 AMP
    • But You are a shield around me, O LORD; You bestow glory on me and lift up my head. -Ps3:3
    • May the favor[05278] of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us—yes, establish the work of our hands. -Ps90:17
    • One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty[05278] of the LORD and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD. Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice, And be gracious[02603] to me and answer me. -Ps27:4-7
    • May God be gracious[02603] to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, Selah -Ps67:1
    • The LORD make His face shine on you, And be gracious[02603] to you. -Num6:25
