Lion of Judah ROAR!

February 18, 2015

Joel 3:16 AMP
16 The Lord will thunder and roar from Zion and utter His voice from Jerusalem, and the heavens and the earth shall shake; but the Lord will be a refuge for His people and a stronghold to the children of Israel.

1 Samuel 2:10 AMP
10 The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; against them will He thunder in heaven. The Lord will judge [all peoples] to the ends of the earth; and He will give strength to His king (King) and exalt the power of His anointed (Anointed His Christ).

Psalm 29:4 AMP
4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.

From: A Mighty Thunderous Roar {Article}

All will tremble at the roar of the Lion of Judah (Amos 3:8). To those who contend with the Lord, His roar will show His wrath (Prov 19:12, 20:2). They will tremble in terror. But to those who belong to the Lord it will be protection. They will tremble in awe and respect gathered like protected children around Him.

A song:
Rise up O Lord, rise up
Rise up O Lord, rise up

From the secret place of thunder
Rise up
Lion of Judah

From the secret place of thunder
A glorious mighty thunderous

Rise up O Lord, rise up
Rise up O Lord, rise up
Lion of Judah

Psalm 81:7 AMP
7 You called in distress and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!

From NetBible Ps 81:7

  • secret place[05643] = hiding place, covering, protection, shelter
  • *The name Meribah means “strife.” Two separate but similar incidents at the place called Meribah are recorded in the Pentateuch (Exod 17:1-7Num 20:1-13). In both cases the Israelites complained about lack of water and the Lord miraculously provided for them.

The Lord answers the cry of His children
From Zion, the secret place of His thunder
With His mighty, thunderous ROAR!
His ROAR of refuge and protection for His children
A terrifying ROAR to His enemies.

Zion is the Lord’s dwelling place
Zion is where the Lord is enthroned on the praises of His children.

From my article ‘Ascending Mount Zion‘, we saw that the center of the throne is where the Lord is enthroned on the praises of His people. God’s throne, His dwelling place, Zion, is encircled by those singing a new song, it’s here in this atmosphere of praise where the Lamb stands high and lifted up(Rev 5:6, 9-13).

From my article ‘Rise Up, O LORD!‘, Arise found in Psalm 132 links Zion with the Lord’s eternal resting place.

Psalm 132:7-9, 13-14 … Let us go into His dwelling place; Let us worship at His footstool. Arise[06965], O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength. Let Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and let Your saints shout for joy. …
… The LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His habitation. This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it.

From: A Mighty Thunderous Roar
Awake the dawn {awake a time of deliverance/vindication}
Join the mighty thunderous roar
Let the triumph of praise be heard!

Deuteronomy 28:7 AMP
7 The Lord shall cause your enemies who rise up against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

Rise Up O LORD!

Rise up O LORD!
Let Your enemies be scattered
Let those who hate You flee before Your face!

So it was, whenever the ark set out, that Moses said: “Rise up, O LORD! Let Your enemies be scattered, And let those who hate You flee before You.” -Num10:35

As smoke is scattered, Lord You drive them away!
As wax melts before the fire, Lord they melt before Your face!

Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered; Let those also who hate Him flee before Him. As smoke is driven away, So drive them away; As wax melts before the fire, So let the wicked perish at the presence of God. -Ps68:1-2

Remember, O LORD, the reproach of Your servants
How they have mocked, taunted and scorned

Remember, Lord, and earnestly imprint [on Your heart] the reproach of Your servants, scorned and insulted, how I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the many and mighty peoples; With which Your enemies have taunted, O Lord, with which they have mocked the footsteps of Your anointed. -Ps89:50-51 AMP

Rise up O LORD!
Rise to my defense
Vindicate me!

Stir up Yourself, and awake to my vindication, To my cause, my God and my Lord. -Ps35:23

Deuteronomy 28:7 NKJV … The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.

Word StudyFrom Num 10:35

  • Rise[06965] = stand, to be established, endure
  • scattered[06327] = to be dispersed, to shatter- dash to pieces
  • before You[06440] = before Your face – presence/person

From Psa 68:1-2

  • * The psalmist depicts God as a mighty warrior and celebrates the fact that God exerts his power on behalf of his people.
  • *The wording of v. 1 echoes the prayer in Num 10:35: “Spring into action, Lord! Then your enemies will be scattered and your adversaries will run from you.” – as smoke is scattered, you scatter [them].

From Psa 35:23

  • Stir up Yourself[05782] = rouse, awake, incite, open your eyes
  • * Though he is confident that the Lord is aware of his situation (see v. 22a), the psalmist compares the Lord’s inactivity to sleep and urges him to wake up.

Rise Up Lord – Show Your Face!

Isaiah 30:18 NIV … Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

Isaiah 30:18 AMP … And therefore the Lord [earnestly] waits [expecting, looking, and longing] to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) are all those who [earnestly] wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him [for His victory, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship]

Rise up O LORD to show compassion on me
You are my help
Do not hide Your face from me
You are my deliverer, my vindication!

I am oppressed and needy
Come quickly!
I long for Your unbroken companionship LORD!
O to walk in the light of Your face!

Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O LORD, in the light of Your countenance.-Ps89:15

My heart says of You, “Seek His face!” Your face, LORD, I will seek. -Ps27:8

May all who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; May those who love to experience Your deliverance say continually, “May the Lord be magnified in praise!” -Ps40:16
