Run to Win the Prize

March 15, 2016

Hebrews 12:1-2 NLT … … Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus …

Run straight the race
That before you lies
On Jesus fix your eyes
Press on with endurance
Towards the finish line
Thru His grace finish strong
Christ the way, the truth, the life
Christ the prize.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 AMPC … Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours.
25 Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither.
26 Therefore I do not run uncertainly (without definite aim). I do not box like one beating the air and striking without an adversary.
27 But [like a boxer] I buffet my body [handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships] and subdue it, for fear that after proclaiming to others the Gospel and things pertaining to it, I myself should become unfit [not stand the test, be unapproved and rejected as a counterfeit].

Running the race to finish strong and win the prize of Christ requires:

Finish Strong

December 19, 2015

Hebrews 12:1-3 AMPC … Therefore then, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses [who have borne testimony to the Truth], let us strip off and throw aside every encumbrance (unnecessary weight) and that sin which so readily (deftly and cleverly) clings to and entangles us, and let us run with patient endurance and steady and active persistence the appointed course of the race that is set before us, 2 Looking away [from all that will distract] to Jesus, Who is the Leader and the Source of our faith [giving the first incentive for our belief] and is also its Finisher [bringing it to maturity and perfection]. He, for the joy [of obtaining the prize] that was set before Him, endured the cross, despising and ignoring the shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Just think of Him Who endured from sinners such grievous opposition and bitter hostility against Himself [reckon up and consider it all in comparison with your trials], so that you may not grow weary or exhausted, losing heart and relaxing and fainting in your minds.

Keep on keeping on
With eyes fixed on Christ
His mercy in view
He’s faithful to see you through
With strength to press on
To keep on keeping on

To be e joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayerRo 12:12
With eyes on Christ and His mercy –
Ro 12:1
Press on
Press on to finish strong!

Psalm 33:18 AMPC … Behold, the Lord’s eye is upon those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe], who wait for Him and hope in His mercy and loving-kindness …

Only by focusing on Christ with His mercy in view, can we press on and finish strong!

Romans 12:1-2 AMPC … I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].

Author and Finisher

Psalm 40:1-2 AMP
1 I waited patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. 2 He drew me up out of a horrible pit [a pit of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay (froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings.

Whatever you are going through TODAY
Fix your eyes on Jesus
Wait expectantly on Him.

Follow His lead and He will establish you on firm ground.

Remember the One who is able
He is faithful to complete what He started
He is the Author and Finisher of your faith!

Count it all joy!

Prayer:
Hebrews 10:36 AMP
36 For you have need of steadfast patience and endurance, so that you may perform and fully accomplish the will of God, and thus receive and carry away [and enjoy to the full] what is promised.

James 1:2-4 AMP
2 Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.
3 Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.4 Let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.

1 Corinthians 9:24-25 AMP
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners compete, but [only] one receives the prize? So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours.
25 Now every athlete who goes into training conducts himself temperately and restricts himself in all things. They do it to win a wreath that will soon wither, but we [do it to receive a crown of eternal blessedness] that cannot wither.

There is not a solitary crown given to the fastest runner, or the runner with the most endurance, but for everyone who finishes! ==> So keep running your race. Don’t stop. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, who is waiting at the end of your running lane ready to present you with a crown of glory that will last forever!

Hebrews 12:1-2 AMP
